    Peace to you dear,

I know what you mean but that is not my point to sister aynur. I would not make fun of, or ridicule, or think less of those who read or recite the Quran (Arabic) without understanding the Arabic language. The fact that it is easy to recite among those who don't even understand Arabic is a real wonder. bravo

Maybe I need to mention that I am an Arab and I know and can easily find out the meanings of every word in the Quran, yet that does not mean that I can fully understand it. And I dare anyone who says so, the way Allah intended it to be understood! So why then, do you think, that I as well as those who don't even know Arabic continue to recite it? I, personally, recite it because I trust that it is Allah's word and that among countless other things, it heals. So if I see someone who can recite Quran, by heart sometimes, without them understanding the language, I know that they do so because they trust that the Quran is the word of Allah and that they do feel the healing within. Isn't that enough? After all, If you read a translation, what makes you so sure that the translation, all the translations that you read are even correct? Clearly, it does boil down to trust.

I have pushed the understanding aside. It does not concern me a lot now. What I can easily understand, effortlessly, then great. Otherwise, it's ok. I trust that if I truly need to know the real meaning of a word or ayah then it will surely come to me, unexpectedly. Now I am more than content with just absorbing the letters and the words of the Quran and letting them sink in. That, by itself, is a priceless joy for those who sense it.

None senses it except the purified.

    Peace Taj

Point taken. However, I believe along with the recitation do some study and research to help you get the message. Recitation alone in my opinion is useless without some understanding (blind following). Again my view.

    Peace

It would seem that is also AQ's view, see 443, 1736.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

        Peace Hope,

There's absolutely nothing useless in reciting the Quran whether you understood it or not. Just open your heart and pray for guidance and you will get whatever you need to get. The message itself is spiritual. It is far bigger and deeper than earthly language. The message is clear, simple and direct no one needs to go to any details or explanations or even reciting the Quran to get the message and guidance.
For believers, Quran is but one means to stir what is already within (that which is nearer than the jugular vein). Whether illiterate or non Arab, a believer can get it and heal from it. Those who don't believe and need to be convinced won't get it no matter what.

Hope4, i did some research, apparently a man in Iraq by the name of "Al-hijjaj ibn Yusuf" ordered the Quran to be in jizo`. so it started from him and spread..

          Way before Ottoman time..

I was just talking to someone, apparently the purpose is because Ramadan is 29-30 days so that way the whole Quran is complete by end of Ramadan.

          Salam

Thank you for that. I feel 443 implies indirectly but 1736 directly.

Thank you for your research it makes sense now. I guess its not a requirement that you need to read a whole jizo of the quran everytime you read it as my family thinks. Rather its an easy way to split the reading into equal portions to be read over ramadan. Again thank you for that.

                Peace

Thank you for that reminder and you put your point through very nicely. I suppose different people will take different things from the Quran and the fact you said that the Quran is one means to stir what is already there makes sense. I do also agree that although I do not understand arabic when the Quran is recited I do feel a sense of peace. However, for over 30 years I have concentrated on recitation of the Quran and trying to learn by heart some suras, however for the past 4 to 5 months I have started to try to understand what the message is, through research and reading articles, intepretations of the Quran both in english and turkish and I can honestly say I feel my faith is greater now than it was in the past, specially as I have found answers to many of the questions I had in my head. But yes for about 30+ years of my life I did find peace by listening to the Quran but all I new about Islam was all hear-say.

So I agree with you that recitation without understanding is one means to stir what is already within and I take back my saying or using the word useless. But the main aim or goal should be to understand the message as 1736 states.

May God guide us in the right direction/path.

                  Peace

                  Hope

There is good and bad people in all religions and walks of life. Its up to us to differentiate the wicked from the good and take note of the path we pick for ourselves. Please lets not lable any sec or group as being collectively evil or misguided, but lets concentrate on ourselves and try to take the best examples to help us achieve righteousness. I have been guilty of this in the past and its not good.

Yes, when one's understanding becomes the right one while all else is false! When you belong to a sect it is like telling the others that you are smarter, that you know better, etc.. and so you ought to be stronger than the other in order to protect and defend your understanding and the sect that holds and supports that understanding from the other, and so forth..

Say, "He is the Able to send upon you affliction from above you or from beneath your feet or to dress you (put onto) you sects and make you taste the violence of one another." Look how We diversify the signs that they might understand. (665)

they say there will be 71 christian ones, 72 jewish ones, 73 muslim ones... you know what they say... i heard there's several thousand just christian sects... i'm sure there more then 100 muslim ones, at least over last 1400 years... which kinda denotes the whole 71,72,73 thing...
i know nobody asked, just thought i mention it hope nobody minds

                                          Peace,
                                          Respectfully.

                                          Who are they?
                                          Little green men?
                                          And why are they green?
                                          Too much vegetables?
                                          Have a banana.

                                          Peace.
