Now.. how would you know when the person you're about to kill is a believer or non believer?

Ask them the following

If the person doesn't answer ANY of the above questions correctly (yes.. that includes if the person doesn't understand the question, since the question is in Arabic) then he/she is eligible to be killed. And you'll earn your paradise with x virgins.. voodoo

Well, obviously, there is a difference between a Believer, disbeliever and a wrongbeliever.
We should also be aware of the Fact that The Exalted God The Most Wise is also The Most Merciful

3953 Say O My servants who transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of God. For God forgives all sins. He is the Forgiver, the Merciful.

Also

4116 God does not forgive that partners be set up with Him, and He forgives other than that for whom He pleases. Whoever sets up partners with God has indeed strayed a far straying.

Also, Thou shalt not kill. (Deuteronomy 517, KJV).

The Exalted God is The Most Merciful, The Most Wise, and if you have killed a nonbeliever (atheist) by mistake, then He AllMighty knows it, right?
If you have killed him on purpose, that's another case.
If you kill a wrongbeliever by accident or on purpose, God will judge you and i think in any of these cases, you should always seek God's help and pray for forgivness, if it was an accident.
I'm not saying that you should kill or that you have done it, just speaking generally.

Yes, thats a very possible meaning. Some say that 'Momin' means safe or secure in these verses. Therefore, the peaceful citizen you shall not kill.

Regarding the red part, this is probably a man who joined the believers but his original clan is an enemy to ours. hmm

Which verse is this? Also, I think "trust" is a better translation than "belief" for "iman".

Alif-Meem-Nun = become/feel safe/secure, state of security/safety, trust, become quiet/tranquil in heart/mind, become free of expectation of evil or free of an object of dislike/hatred, promise/assurance of security/safety, become trustful/faithful/confident, to believe/acknowledge it, manifestation of humility/submission.
