Hi All,

Could anyone please explain the meaning of word in the following verse.

I had read somewhere in this forum that "tal" means pull/push. I checked Lane's dictionary but I couldn't find any example.

Could anyone help me.

This is the verse which unlock the meaning of the Prophet Abraham and Ishmael story. If somehow we established that "tal" means pull/push then it is very logical translation that he (Ibrahim) pulled him (his son) to his (Ibrahim's) forehead..

Put him postrate, that is, made take the physical attitude of the person who aslama. That is they both aslama,submitted to God and Ibrahim did a physical expression of making his son submit to God.

So, what is the meaning of "tal"?.

Is it mean "to prostrate"?

I have found following in the Lane's dictionary

which means he gave or delivered the thing to him or he threw, or put thing into his hand.

What I understood "tal" means, to put, to lay down, hill etc.

question is what was the shape of sacrifice? or submission...

logically speaking i think, the submission was to inherit a new land in deserts of arabia.. so it was a test.. for a father to seperate his son from himself...

but what we see , the coming of isaac in the shape of good news and , ishmael was happy from his posting , i mean early form of posting... so he also submitted along with his father...

if both were submitted then its impossible that both will chop the necks of eachother... lol

1 somtimes we think something unpleasant , is infact good for us...
and sometimes we think something pleasant is really bad for us in reality...

2 and your kids are just a trial for this wordly life...

3 and we will surely test you by your kids/money/fear..

all three prominent verses are hint to the situation of abraham...

and in the end God said about abraham, we tested abraham in multiple ways and we found him always a submitting servant of us... i mean God praised abraham in nice manner... becoz abraham was an intelligent person and a man of reason from his early age...

ehre was no sacrifice at all and at no moment it is even hinted that Ibrahim thought he had to sacrifice his son. He asked his son what dd he think the dream meant. I that dream he sacrifices his son, just that4. God does not order such a thing to himneither in realiy nor in the dream.

So once he consulted his son he sonsaid that whatever it might mean he sure would be patient. So they did what allmuslims do, aslama, put hemselves in God's hands and submitted, THAT was th sacrifice, the sacrifice evry muslim must accet,because that is what islam means. Ibrahimacknowledges tht his son is God'sno his and that both are God's not themselves's.
