Same here, Rev.John. I usually read from www.quran.com with the Arabic and several English translations to compare, and what i found is "does not love" (laa yuHibbu). Just a negation. The opposite of what is being talked in this thread.

How about this3539 He is the One who made you successors on the earth. So, whoever rejects, then to him is his rejection. And the rejection of the rejecters only increases the abhorrence of their Lord towards them. The rejection of the rejecters only increases their loss.

The keyword being hatred/abhorrence instead of hate (v). The order of the words, though, is more precisely
He is who made you successors on the earth.
Then whoever disbelieves, then on him his disbelieve.
And not increase-the disbelievers, their disbelieve at their Lord except abhorrence/hatred.
And not increase-the disbelievers, their disbelieve except loss.Now, could it be argued that there is a difference between "The Lord hates something" and "they increase hatred at their Lord's side"?
Yes, the notion of "abhorrence/hatred" is worse than "hate" (and i'm not familiar with the word maqtA).
