I am confused ...

Peace,
Respectfully.welcome welcome to the forum, brother.
When i was a sunni, i wasn't really a sunni, i was just a clone, a person who imitates other sunnis. I had million questions but never wanted to ask humans, because there are plenty of humans with different answers.I asked God.
God doesn't lie.
God is not human.
Now, i got all the answers and whenever i read The Quran, the correct translation, Thank God, i am even more sure that i'm on the right path. I'm not worried nor scared to call sunnis and shias nonmuslims because i'm reading Quran and seeing with my own eyes that they are simply not following it.When i was in London, for example, sunnis broke their fast at maghrib, even though i asked a friend of mine who is a devout sunni to translate the word in The Quran, the word when Allah SWT says to break the fast. The word is layl. I asked him what maghrib means and what layl means and he had the same look on his face like me, when my uncle beat me in the chess game long time ago.
In The Quran, God tells us that we need to fast until layl and not until maghrib.
2187 It has been made lawful for you during the night of fasting to approach your women sexually. They are a garment for you and you are a garment for them. God knows that you used to betray your souls so He has accepted your repentance, and forgiven you; now you may approach them and seek what God has written for you. And you may eat and drink until the white thread is distinct from the black thread of dawn; then you shall complete the fast until night; and do not approach them while you are devoted in the temples. These are the boundaries of God, so do not transgress them. It is thus that God clarifies His revelations to the people who they may be righteous.
Of course, this is just one of the things i witnessed.
Trust God.
Don't take my word for it, read The Quran, always rely on God and trust Him.Also, read last two chapters in The Quran.
Peace.

How did you manage to do that or else what brought you to the conclusion that this way is the right way ?
welcome
Well for me, something clicked in my head. I started thinking about the fact that Bukhari and the others did not compile hadiths until 200+ years after Prophet Muhammad (saw) died, and it is not logical that they didn't change during the time they were collected. The explanations from others and in things I read just seem absurd (i.e., everyone had super memory and didn't forget anything, were so religious they didn't make mistakes, etc.). They were human and even things I tell others are easily changed or distorted and that's just in a matter of days. All I know is the other way is not the right way, I couldn't stay on the Sunni path.

I am not asking for words of comfort -I cried myself out a few moments ago - all I am asking is a how to be sure I am not slipping into another "Leave your mind behind" regime , comparing Quran's verses and certain terminologies are impressive in this site's articles but I want to get back to the roots of it .
I did that too, cried myself out.. i just kept thinking why me? why this? why me? is it true? why?
have you ever got the feeling where you weren't sure about something but you took a guess or worked it out but you weren't confident but did it anyway, you might have even got it right though you know that ikky feeling of uncertainty kinda sux.. then you expose yourself to the resources/techniques more.. little by little you gain more confidence or become totally clueless and start at point 1 till you understand..of course depending on the motivation.
When you know stuff and understand it, it makes you feel good. That's a feeling that happens on an individual learning level.. it's truly amazing that we are our worst and best enemies of ourselves..
About the root system, even traditionalists use this method to a certain degree however they have their own fiqh about it i.e. words having a literal meaning, a linguistic meaning and a shar`e meaning (sunni fiqh).
I didn't start using root systems till recently, it really helps in understanding the message and it keeps the message consistent. i'm not sure if any other way would be as harmonious or consistent.
welcome to the forum!

Very simple Stick To It!

We're not sure that it is the right way, and that's why we're having this forum, to discuss with others, to test the hypothesis..
Unlike the dogmatic sectarian groups, we're open for discussion...welcome

Salam Architect,
The one thing that all people who come to this journey have in common is "their overwhelming love of God".
That is the million $ question do you love God in your heart over all others that, when evidence is presented in His name, you give that evidence weight over everything and everyone else?
That is what most of us have done when conforented with the verses of the Quran that speak in God's name and claim that His words are complete and detailed...that setting-up any equal or partner to Him is "idolatry" which will never be forgiven...It always boild down to that...God alone, or God plus?
Personally, after walking this path for so many years, I can tell you that my feeling of being 100% certain has never changed...from that first day I became aware of what falsehoods we had been following in the name of God and asked His forgiveness, until today....I have always known is was the truth.
-
I believe there is nothing worthy of worship except God alone without any partners. God's final revelation to humanity was the Quran which he said he would protect until the end of time.
Verse 262 says "Surely those who believe; and those who are Jewish, and the Nazarenes, and the Sabians, whomever of them believes in God and the Last Day and does good work; they will have their reward with their Lord, with no fear over them, nor will they grieve."
Worship God and follow his teachings (the Quran) and know that he will judge you justly on the day of Judgment on what is in your heart.
Allah knows best.

If I were a Muslim and trying to find a more mellow version of Islam I would come here. I am very new here as well and interested in understanding and comparing and contrasting the more fundamental Islam with the moderate Islam and see which is valid.
I am glad so many here are anti-hadith because so many hadith appear to me to be anti-morality. Some of the opinions on this site are incredibly 'heretical'. There is an article from a 19er suggesting that two verses in the Koran were added. Reading that blew my mind that a Muslim would consider the Koran had been 'corrupted'. So I think free-minds has a lot to offer.
I'll be pressing and asking questions as I go. So far I have found people willing to answer and respond.
As Jaffar said
The beauty of it is We don't.
We're not sure that it is the right way, and that's why we're having this forum, to discuss with others, to test the hypothesis..

I converted to Islam based on the Quran (thinking how simple things are having one book that makes sense) Then I learned of the Hadith. So I bought a large collection of books from Darussalam publications (all Saudi authorized) thinking I was going to expand my knowledge of Islam.
I was so excited when I got my package, beautiful, green, hardcover, gold print books. I picked up a book (a compilation and explanation of Hadith) and right in the very beginning it talks about killing apostates.
I closed the book and fell back in my chair thinking "What did I get myself in to?".
Follow the Quran, no matter what else you except for religious guidance weigh it against the Quran. God never said he would protect Hadith, Sunnah or the Bible, but he did say he would protect the Quran. So if you believe the Quran to be from God follow his words, because Allah knows best.

But how could such hadith so closely associated with the Koran? Not in the Koran but surely for the majority of Islamic history after the collection of the hadith, these hadith were not questioned by the mainstream scholars?

It seems to be very common in the history of religion. Shabbir Ahmed has some great writings on this subject. Also Reza Aslan say's in his book "No god but God" when talking about Islam's historical traditions, "As a result their accounts more often reflect the political and religious ideologies of 9th century Damascus or 11th century Baghdad, than of 7th century Medina."
If you read Bart Ehrman's book "Jesus Interrupted", he says similar things about the Gospels, noting that the authors views were effected by their conditions and audience.

I haven't read Jesus Interrupted to know. If you wanted to PM me with some examples from the book that is fine but not needed.
You are implying that all religions suffer this problem. I can believe that. But unless you know something about Christianity which I don't (quite likely ) what surprises me is how vast the discrepancy is between the Koranic Mohammad and the Hadithic Mohammad we seem to have and yet historically no one seems to have noticed it (in general).

Peace Wootah,
Check out http//freequranonline.org/Most-Authentic-Sayings
The discrepancy is very clear. Similar story to ayyub, I wasn't even aware of the Hadithic Mohammed as initially I had only read the Quran without any preconceived notions of "Islam". It was after going to the mosque and learning about Hadith that I discovered all the shocking details.

Also go to http//www.ourbeacon.com and read some of Shabbir Ahmeds books in the Library section. There are some PDF books there that should give you some ideas about how things got corrupted.
