    Re asking God for things.

There is no doubt that turning towards God is beneficial, to call upon etc. However, I am reminded of the wisdom

"I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs" ~Fredrick Douglas

Similar to 1311 "...God is not to change what is in a people until they change what is within themselves...."

Very Important Point. Pray, respond, move.

                      peace

                      Salam,
This situation can be applied to anything in life but in my case it is marriage.
If something seems like a blessing from God that he has given you something special (ie the person I like, who is also my bestest friend in the whole wide world) and you want to turn it into something beautiful (ie get married and start a family) but it never seems to work out as planned (ie financial problems) and you pray to God everyday to help you out but nothing changes, how would you know if...

                      a) it isn't meant to be, so give up right now
                      b) it will happen at the right time which isn't now, so be patient
                      c) anything is possible if you work hard to get it, so work hard

I really like this person a lot, we have knows each other for years and both our families know... everything seems right about it and about us getting married. I feel that it was a blessing from God who has let us meet one another and make each other happy. I have been praying to God to help us for so long but nothing has changed (
You get so many sayings about a, b and c but which one is right?

Opposites attract, if you're both the same, I do not think it will work, you're maybe young and impressionable thinking ideally who wish to be with, sometimes something you like maybe bad for you, and something you dislike there may come a lot of good from. Try keep yourself clean and away from sin, because it is a law that anyone who commits adultery or fornication cannot marry a believer, this seems to ring true with me, but may God guide me and my family and we repent firmly and become believers. Think would you be happy, if so then work at it and hopefully it will work out, if you think it is to compete with others to have a prize then for your own good it may not work out. Insha Allah, I hope you have righteous intentions, I remember when I was at university, and not very God conscious, and I wanted to start a relationship with a Christian girl, but no matter what we did to try to come together we just were detracted all the time, maybe this was the will of God, I was about 20 at the time, nine years on I got married to someone who didn't have stay in the UK, her name was the same as the name of the girl I said I would marry when I was only ten, she was bullied because of it, in some ways it come true, 'I said I will marry Nargis, and that is the name my wife goes by with family' on paper it is something else, but coming from Pakistan they never noted her birth only years after were her documents made. I hope you have righteous intentions, not thinking of superior or inferior, envy, greed, ego and such. And I am a submitter and my wife is sunni, but she gets along with my folk. A lot of good has come out something I sort of disliked in the beginning, insha Allah thanks be to God.

                        Peace asubmitter,

Why are you assuming that there are negative intentions involved. I already said that there are financial problems so if I was greedy, wouldn't I go for a rich man instead?
Plus he lives abroad so there's no fornication involved either.
I think you're wrong when you said that if we're the same then it won't work out. We have a lot to talk about because of our similar interests and friction is very minimal since we agree with most things and we're both understanding about any dissimilarities. It might not work for some people but it works for us.

You right I don't know you or your situation, but from my own experience I can say such and such but it may not be what you need to hear, insha Allah, I hope you good luck and no ill feeling, everything I said was purely subjective but may have appeared it could be applied to anyone, I cannot start with I or what I think, trying to make myself feel important, I can only start in the manner I chose, there are many hidden laws unspoken laws that are explained in the art of writing but only the beholder can understand, I try to be observant of God in my actions and words, I try to implement the law in my life rather spend debating over it, I trust my eyes, enough to understand what reality I am percieiving, but recognise God controls all hearts and minds, and sometimes like the Quran says 'truly it isn't their eyes that are blind but their hearts which are inside their breasts.' (2246)

From what I hear you say, I hope you can find a way to be with whoever you feel comfortable with.

From reading your username, I assume you were born in 1988, if so you are 22, same age I was when I wanted to get married to a girl on the same course at uni. I started liking her when I was 20 and spent the next two years trying find the courage to speak to her. I was only a student so didn't have much money either. Insha Allah keep devoting to your Lord, and may He guide you to the easiest of paths.

                          peace

                              Respect.

Keep steadfast sister and keep up the prayers.
If you read Quran everyday, you'll keep strong, because that's what you need now.
                              Stay strong and trust God.
Don't trust humans and please do not give up. We're believers, we don't give up just because the pressure is too high, right?

                              Peace.
