Qur'an-Alone Muslims Should Unite

This website is probably where people are the most difficult to convince as they have been brainwashed by dishonnest people who even reject the fact we shall pray towards Mecca, perform the pilgrimage there, deny the lunar calendar, etc... They reinvent meanings for straightforward words, so basically we do not speak the same language anymore. Lots of people are led astray on this website. It is a tragedy.
Mon ami Pierre.. the earth is round.. logically there's no way anybody who lives at least 3000 KM or more from Mecca could possibly praying directly towards Mecca.. unless he performs the Michael Jackson style of leaning forward as found in Smooth Criminal video..
And how should they pray when they are in Mars???For those who really think straight, it is clearly evidenced that the ignorant bedouin Arabs has twisted God's message to includes their own silly and ridiculous tradition and superstitions.
I found it sad that ignorance people many times disown a very simple logic and start labeling people who really start to think straight as 'dishonest', 'ashtray', 'infidel' and 'kuffar'.

I could quote the same to you. Like I said, no reason for differences of opinion to disunite us. Better that we move forward together in serving God through working for the betterment of humanity. Let's uplift those who find themselves in a worse position than ourselves, those who don't know where their next meal will come from, those who die routinely from not having shelter, those who cannot fight against the elements because they can't clothe themselves appropriately. Maybe then we can have them join us in the discussion of whether or not there are 5 daily prayers and all the other academic discussions that take place.
I worry more about being questioned as to why we didn't come together to ensure that people's basic needs such as food, shelter and clothing are met rather than being questioned about why we didn't ensure that we all made the same number of prayers each day. For me, the unity of the ummah is a matter of priorities. Let's unite in acting on that which we agree upon, and allow the differences to resolve themselves through productive discussion. I have a suspicion we may find that when we do this, we may not find as much time to argue any more.

please do not let physical salat come in the way of all of us uniting. personally, i feel more in contact with God when i dont do the ritualistic prayer..but just sit and meditate..read the quran and serve others..with the last one being highest in preference. i constantly seek Gods approval and thank Him for evrything.thats how i feel close to Him...i used to pray 5 times..but i feel closer to God now by only doing the physical prayer 3 times ..plus whenever i feel like it.
if someone else feels close to God through the 5 prayers, then by all mean..go ahead..i think we are all united in the fact that we want to get closer to God and closer to righteousness.thats the glue that holds us together...for me its good enough -

How does someone's personal connection with God actually have to do with us being united or not? Some people feel closer to God by praying ritually 5 times, others 3 times, others with meditation, others by doing social works, etc. Seriously, there are many ways to feel the presence of God. We have our own unique way to accomplish that. No one is the same.
Unity is not about maintaining the same physical appearance, nor is it about behaving the same way like robots. Otherwise God would create us the same, and not as it is in 4913. For me, unity is about striving for the same goals, despite our differences. I believe we should focus on what we have in common, rather than on what we differ in. Let us "communicate" to God on our ways, rather than feeling insecure that the others do not do it the same way as we do.

If we have quick look at history we would find that prayer in it self has not united any body.Also just because some body prays like you does not mean they think or act as you.
If we truly want to unite then following a religion has to be sacrificed as all religions propagate disunity.

Ironically, the verses that are commonly taken to mean face a certain direction during prayer , actually tell us what to unite on.
And to each is a direction/wijh that he will take so you shall race towards good deeds. Wherever you may be, God will bring you all together. God is capable of all things.
It could not be more simple.

548 And We have sent down to you the Book with the truth, authenticating what is between your hands of the Book and superseding it. So judge between them by what Allah has sent down, and do not follow their desires from what has come to you of the truth. For each of you We have made laws, and a structure; and if Allah had willed, He would have made you all one nation, but He tests you with what He has given you; so strive to do good. To Allah you will return all of you, and He will inform you regarding that in which you dispute.
Still Allah said
3103
3103 And hold firmly to the rope of Allah, all of you, and do not be separated. And remember the blessing of Allah upon you when you were enemies and He united your hearts. Then you became, with His blessing, brothers; and you were on the edge of a pit of fire and He saved you from it; it is thus that God clarifies for you His signs that you may be guided.
Then He said

3104 And let there be a nation from among you who calls towards goodness, and orders kindness, and prohibits vice. And these are the successful ones.
Then,

3105 And do not be like those who separated and differed after the clarity had come to them. And for them is a painful retribution.
May Allah guide us all towards the Truth and make us the followers of His clear aayaats.

I agree with Imraan.
What i think is happening is that the Quranist persuasion is slowly becoming mainstream among the cultural and intellectual elite. Which is what most , actually all, of the people in this forum are. As that happens many Quranist who come from a Sunni or Shgia background will see no need to change their mode of prayer as they are comfortable with it. This is actually normal and will probably be the majority view among Quranist in the future. There are three type of Quranist (as there were three type of Mutazilites in the past)
- only accept the authority of the Quran
- Accept the authority of the Quran plus the rituals (practiced sunnah) but not hadith
- Accept the authority of the Quran, the ritual Sunnah and some hadiths that meets certain criteria ( does not contradict Quran or multiple sources etc)
You can't be a Quranist if you accept all Sunni or Shia hadith.
Unity is when when we accept all three EQUALLY. That can't be done unless we do not accept any BINDING authority accept the one source we all agree with and thats the Quran. We all have our different comfort zones and we all have our own way of interacting with the larger muslim community like praying in mosques and going to haj etc. This is actually all good for us since it creates diversity.
But,
if we make any source other than the Quran as binding than we really can't say we are Quranist as that defeats the whole purpose. It also breaks away the unity.

From my studies of The Quran, we should be united on our bond with God, racing towards good deeds, and bringing betterment.
For me, the discussions I have on this forum, are purely academic, I am not interested in what others believe and/or practice, unless it is detrimental to me. All I wish to do is help bring about a better understanding of the message.
