Chronological order from The Quran: story of Abraham
-
I just noted that in 2185 Ishmael is described as having sabir and of saliheena, which are words used for the intended-sacrifice son, so this neutralises any argument based on exclusivity of terms that I mentioned previously.
There is also a possible hint of interpretation of dreams given to Abraham and Isaac and vision , providing a possible link showing relevance to Abraham/Isaac, not of Ishmael.

peace Mazhar,
That is what is commonly thought, although AQ does not have any explicit indication of it in the Arabic except it happens to mention Isaac's name after.
Peace Wakas,
The Qur'aan has very specifically mentioned the chronology of events in 37100-113. The only problem is that you have not yet paid attention to learn how an Arabic text is read and understood. Every subsequent particle and word needs to be related to the words preceeding it to understand what is being conveyed therein. It is not that Ishaque alahissalam is mentioned afterwards, but it is a separate information from what has been described and conveyed before it. There is no point talking of "good news of Ishaque" after finishing the sacrifice episode of son who was a grown up to an age where he could assist his father.
-
There is only one explicit reference in which Abraham is given glad tidings of a son and that is in reference to Isaac.
This too seems a conclusion drawn in haste.
Particle Fa denotes cause and effect-response; sequence of two things whih have a relationship of cause and effect. In response to request/prayer he was given glad news of a son, qualitatively described as .
About Ishaque alahissalm it is specifically told that for him no request/prayer was made; he was granted as an unsolicited gift. And when news about him were conveyed through the Messengers his qualitative description was given as .

peace Mazhar,
You never answered my question. Quote "I assume this is how you would resolve this problem?"
Note the order of narration of two sons. You will always find it when they are mentioned together;
I also noticed this but did not research AQ to see if when lists of such people are given if they are always sequential. Have you researched this? If they are always sequential, that would be strong evidence for Ishmael before Isaac. In 683-87 it is Isaac first, but it has info in between the named people.
Your replies #5, 6 and 7 are, as they stand, baseless non-points. 37112 uses "wa".
peace Tlepsh,
Is your translation possible from the Arabic, i.e. "Isaac's prophethood...". I'm not sure.
-
37101 So We gave him good news of a compassionate child. (saac)
37112 And We gave him the good news of Isaac?s prophet hood, among the righteous.
peace Tlepsh,
Is your translation possible from the Arabic, i.e. "Isaac's prophethood...". I'm not sure. Wakas
is accusative-a noun describing circumstance-state-status
-
Isaac became a prophet when he was old enough. He was not born as a prophet. So The good news in verse 37112 is his becoming a prophet. n other words his status.
When the news of a baby boy is given in Quran we see that the word (م is used as in verse 197

Peace Wakas,
You can find almost the same translation here

I reviewed this recently and I think you are correct with your observation on 37112. (As a side note the monotheist/free-minds and Reformist translations are misleading in this verse, as there is no "coming of" in the Arabic)
To further evidence Isaac being "the sacrifice son" we note 37113 uses the dual "...both their offspring..." strongly suggesting Abraham had further offspring which would have been Ishmael.
37113 And We blessed him and Isaac. And from BOTH their progeny, some are righteous, and some are clearly wicked.

Point for reflection!
An aged person, not earlier bestowed a son, prays for grant of a son
And he said, "I am going—migrating in the cause of Allah the Exalted, soon He the Exalted will keep guiding me."
After having migrated he prayed "O my Sustainer Lord! Do grant me a son that be one of the righteous."
In response to his prayer, Our Majesty delighted him with news of an intelligent, enduring and forbearing son.
He gets the son he solicited.
Thereby, when he (son) had crossed over to the age of exerting effort, formally operational along with him; he (Iebra'heim alai'his'slaam) said —
The other son was later granted unsolicited.
We mention sons by order of their birth, elder first
"The Infinite Glory and Praise stands specified eternally, entirely and exclusively for Allah the Exalted. He the Exalted has granted me Iesma'eile and Ies'hauq upon reaching the old age.
Indeed My Sustainer Lord is certainly the listener of the prayer.
