Masturbation

Not to be offensive but I find this funny. rotfl
Others hold the opinion that it is not haram as long as you are doing it to avoid what's definitely haram and that's sex with someone other than your wife.
Ok...isn't this why muslim men masturbate? Why else would you masturbate if you didn't have a hot woman living in your house? Duh. nope
-M
As a married man I will tell you that almost all married men still masturbate even with a woman in their house. Men tend to have urges far more often than women or at times when women can't have sex or are not available.
Is masturbation haram? I would say it is only haram if you masturbate AND not wash your hands afterwards. This would be disgusting for the rest of the population to shake a man's hand that wasn't cleaned after masturbating. yuck
Just my deranged thoughts.

Meteora "There's not even a single "sahih" hadith that states this. Some sunnis conclude that because Muhammad advised adolescents to fast when they're horny,"

However, I don't understand this part " or those whom their right hands possess". Those that mean it is aloud to masturbate?
Uh oh! If one is a lefty is he damned to hell or "self-celibacy" for eternity. rotfl rotfl rotfl
Ok seriously before this thread is trashed; if it is not explicitly forbidden, then we as humans cannot forbid it. Please see

Is it haram to masturbate?
Peace Mouad;
"Say My Lord has only prohibited indecencies, those of them that are apparent as well as those that are concealed..."
Qur'an 733
Obviously only do it when you really need to. If one's faith and remembrance is strong enough to quell all but the more potent urges, that is good. When you do so, you should do it for the sole purpose of release and not for enjoyment. Perhaps if you are married and you think just of your wife... Anyway there is no punishment against it (just like alcohol, it is between the person and Allah (SWT)).

Thinking ISNT Haram, nor masturbating, nor masturbating while thinking for someone you're not married to, you dont get accounted for what you think, and you can also do it for enjoyment, no where in Quran it tells us to never do anything enjoyable.
example thinking of sex with someone you're not married to while masturbating, even if you're doing it for enjoyment isn't haram, as long as it wasn't your intention to do what you thought If you could do that thing but you was just thinking Ahh, what if... would be amazing if it wasn't haram ( and i could do it).

exegetical masturbation beware ...
(hey what's that search button for again?)
rotfl dw youll get your memory back in a while laugh

That doesn't mean thinking is haram, im not sure which verse but when i read the Quran one day i saw that after Muhammad's ummah told him that they will go to hell because they can't keep their thinking, an ayah came down that made thinking unaccountable, you don't get accounted for what you think, that verse ment like if you've done a haram(with actions not thinking) and kept it in your mind and you hided it from others, you will still be accounted for it because you cannot hide from Allah.

You are perhaps thinking of verse 2286?
Regardless, the thought is a part of the masturbation, and as a whole it is a deed (because you let yourself think it and encourage yourself via volunteering the act). The companions of the Prophet (SAW) were not worrying about their thoughts during this act were they? In essence you would be giving yourself the desire, and arguably the thought itself (prohibited or not) is what would make the act "lewd".
Finally, we should not judge by ahadith. Find the verse if you can.

I should ask this
What is the acceptable limit of masturbation per day/week/month etc. according to your understanding (considering that you may think of anyone)? I provided my own.
"Surely Allah will make those who believe and do good enter gardens beneath which rivers flow; and those who disbelieve enjoy themselves and eat as the beasts eat, and the fire is their abode."
4712
Anyway peace.

Once in two weeks or more if you can't keep your desires.

Nowhere in Quran thinking bad stuff is mentioned to be haram, it is a natural, if it was haram everyone would go to hell, its EXTREMELY hard trying to not think about haram, and you're alone there in a room, if you're close to "lewdness" what are you gonna do? Have sex with the couch?

Two comments
1.) Notice that almost all the comments are from men? o I am sure women masturbate too. o The sex toy industry (which is in the billions) counts on those women. o
2.) If it were explicitly haram then the Quran would say so, explicitly. For example, pork is haram because it explicitly says don't eat it. However masturbation is already associated with a lot of guilt for many reasons. But I don't think it is haram. Besides it can serve a good purpose. It can keep you from becoming so frustrated that you lash out at people or take desires too far. I guess some people think that masturbation increases your desire to do something haram. I think masturbation reduces those desires since you have an outlet for those desires. And as an added benefit it harms no one.
In Judaism any thoughts are not a sin. Only carrying out those thoughts may be sinful, but the thought is not a sin. And if it doesn't hurt anyone or cause any loss to anyone I can't imagine Allah would have it high on his list of sins. Besides if it were on the top of the list of sins, then the Quran would explicitly say it.
Just my thoughts.

peace Salam, Shalom, Peace peaceI agree, but i don't find it reasonable for thinking to be haram and its not Quran prohibited so yeah

Although I am unsure where you found the 1 week in the Qur'an?
If thinking is not an accountable action, are hypocrites/pretenders going to Heaven?
Peace.
Thats a different case, you see, hypocrites and pretenders have the intention to damage a particular thing, but most persons get horny and its a natural thing so thinking about it is not haram, its your fantasies.

Salam all
alhamdulillah to be back. Layth thank you for resetting my password.
Now to the issue on masturbation.
You really can't find any verse that says in no uncertain tems that masturbation is forbidden, but we should be guided by al qur'an's 2187
2187 It has been made lawful for you during the night of fasting to
approach your women sexually. They are a garment for you and
you are a garment for them. God knows that you used to betray
your souls so He has accepted your repentance, and forgiven you;
now you may approach them and seek what God has written for
you. And you may eat and drink until the white thread is distinct
from the black thread of dawn; then you shall complete the fast
until night; and do not approach them while you are devoted in
the temples. These are the boundaries of God, so do not transgress
them. It is thus that God clarifies His revelations to the people
who they may be righteous.I'd like to draw your attention to the line "now you may approach them and seek what God has written for
you."Isn't it clear and detailed enough that God wants us to approach our wife to seek what He has written for us?
Doesn't it breeds hypocrisy towards this verse (thus towards God) if one uses a condom, have sex with one's pregnant wife, have anal sex, and/or masturbate? Perhaps, I don't need to add having sex with animals because clearly sexual intercourse is for procreation. Masturbation does not serve procreation.
But what about those who are single? Let us hear and obey God
2432 And marry off those among you that are single, and the good
from among your male and female servants. If they are poor, then
God will grant them from His grace. And God is Encompassing,
Knowledgeable.
2433 And let those who are not able to marry continue to be chaste
until God enriches them of His Bounty. And if those who are
maintained by your oaths seek to consummate the marriage, then
document it with them if you find that they are ready, and give
them from the wealth of God which He has bestowed upon you.
And do not force your young women to need if they have desired
to be independent, in order that you may make a gain in the goods
of this worldly life. And if anyone has compelled them, then for
their compulsion, God is Forgiving, Merciful.I have underlined the line that matters.
Indeed, salat and patience is the key.
244 Do you exhort the people to do good, but forget yourselves, while
you are reciting the Book? Do you not comprehend?
245 And seek help through patience and through the salat.
It is a difficult thing, but not so for the humble.
246 The ones who conceive that they will meet their Lord and that to
Him they will return.Ramon
