Terrified

Peace sister,
Welcome to the forums. )
So I have spent the better part of the day reading up on Qu'ran only Muslims. I agree with so much of what it says, but am terrified that I will be a kafir for walking away from hadith. How can something that so many others follow be so wrong?
I guess my answer to that could be equated with how so many Christians observe Christmas and Easter, even though the Bible never says to do it.
6116 And if you obey the majority of those on Earth they will lead you away from God's path; that is because they follow conjecture, and that is because they only guess.
I think you already know the truth in your heart. Continue to study and ask Allah for guidance.
May peace be with you.

Thank you so much for the ayats you provided...they are very uplifting and comforting!
In peace,

I was just going to post that Ayah.
?The words of your Lord are complete in its truth and justice. Nothing can change His words ? He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing. If you obeyed most of those on earth, they would lead you away from the path of Allah. They follow nothing but speculation ? they are merely guessing.? (6115-116)
and
And they shall say O our Lord! surely we obeyed our leaders and our great men, so they led us astray from the path; (33.67)
"Do not accept anything that you have no knowledge of. Surely the hearing, the sight and the mind you are responsible for." (1736)
Sweety, let me ask you this. How can following the book of Allah with a pure heart and sincerity lead you astray? Allah is mercy. When I first turned away from hadith, everyone freaked out! It just did not make sense why, it is the complete book of God.. how could following it be so bad?? I did not leave Christianity (Catholicism, too) just to adapt to another religion idolizing another man with God, superstitions and robot rituals. Sayings the just made me feel so bad, how could I follow that? I was seeking a personal relationship with my creator. It is the only think that felt right to me. I found that with Quran.
"Do they not meditate earnestly on the Qur?an, or are there locks on the hearts?" (4724)
May Allah guide you and bring peace to your heart and mind.
?And when My servants ask you concerning Me, then surely I am very near; I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he calls on Me, so they should answer My call and believe in Me that they may walk in the right way." (2186)

Have no fear dear muslim.
He said, "My Lord, since You have willed that I go astray, I will surely entice them on earth; I will send them all astray.
"Except those among Your worshipers who are devoted absolutely to You alone."
He said, "This is a law that is inviolable."You have no power over My servants. You only have power over the strayers who follow
you.Let me start by saying that all major religions have suffered corruption because satan has out smarted humans from the begining of time. Your only refuge is God.
be careful of the majority because many follow traditions that are not revelations from God.Surely, those who argue against GOD's revelations without proof are exposing the arrogance that is hidden inside their chests, and they are not even aware of it. Therefore, seek refuge in GOD; He is the Hearer, the Seer
When we stray into what we say Muhammad said or what Jesus said or what Moses said,we leave ourselves open to the enterpretations of satan.
Here's an example
who told you to change your name?
who said cover your hair?
who said stone gays? You are not lost or crazy.
You are becoming a thinker. congradulations!

I had this problem too, though I am an abrasive person who is ready to fight physically and verbally for his beliefs and I think a lot of people sensed this, so being bullied or chastised or physically hurt for stating that I am Qu'ran only and no longer a hadithist was not as difficult for me.
I don't know what your situation is though, but you must be brave. I know you have a husband and a child, I cannot comment on the position you are in as I was never in that position, I can't imagine how tough it must be for you, but you must be brave, and you must remember that Allah is the one whom you should fear the most out of anyone. Any people who outcast you for your beliefs are not worthy of your time anyways. As for your family, this is very difficult I can imagine. I hope that Allah gives you the strength and wisdom to open up to them about how you feel and to prepare you for any reaction that might occur. I know this is kind of a gloomy prospect, but if you do somehow die for this remember that you died for your faith, and that is a great thing in Allah's eyes.

Wow...that is powerful. Thought provoking...when I left Christianity for Islam it was based on that very same thing. I realized that we were worshipping Jesus...and came right on over and began worshipping Muhammed. As a matter of fact, I think the first thing I admitted to myself after about a year or so was "Islam is no different than Christianity....there is false worship going on over here too."
There is a large part of me that feels ashamed that I fell for it...I honestly thought I had found the correct way to worship God!

I think one the greatest mistakes we (humans) make is underestimating our mortal enemy satan.
in the west we never saw satan coming in the form of eastern traditions, unauthorized opinions,
poor translations of the Quran and cultural representation mistakened for religious practice.
O0He said, "Since You have willed that I go astray,* I will skulk for them on Your straight path Say, "O followers of the scripture, why do you repel from the path of GOD those who wish to believe, and seek to distort it, even though you are witnesses?" GOD is never unaware of anything you do
Under the guise of their apparent faith, they repel the people from the path of GOD. Miserable indeed is what they do.

I am married with a daughter, my husband came to Islam while incarcerated in prison, even though his father was Muslim (and is also incarcerated). I am the only Muslim in my family, other than a distant cousin. I was raised Christian and for a while studied with Jehovahs Witnesses. Of course, they too commit shirk and once I realized that, I came to Islam.
Salaam,
welcome handshake
It took me several readings to understand the red part
After first reading I was like second reading hypno after the third reading I started to hmm then finally a ! and rotfl about my stupidness.InshaAllah soon you will make a new nick, something like happymuslimah

Bender,
I am so sorry...I apologize for my horrible grammar. My thoughts were coming much too quickly when I posted that. "I am married and have a daughter" would have been the appropriate statement there.

Walekum Salam, Welcome to the forum!
I can relate very much to your trepidation. I am fairly new to Islam but my personality and analytical mind have always approached it with a "show me proof" attitude, which inherently means that it will take a long time (if not forever) to understand/read/reflect on the Quran and its meanings. In the meantime I started to practice salat, fast for Ramadan, go to mosque, etc...but even on the intuitive level I have also felt something was "wrong" with many of the traditions I began to adapt. For example, I first began using a translated version of the prayer and every time I recited the passages about Mohammed I felt a strange feeling deep in my stomach. Somehow, I just knew it didn't fit. And now after joining this forum, I understand that my subconscious was recognizing it as worshiping someone other than God.
I also have a husband who was born Muslim - a Sunni. We have already had many heated discussions because he takes everything he was taught at face value and I take nothing at face value. He feels frustrated that I won't allow him to "lead me the right way" and that "i always need proof." And I am very anxious as to what his reaction will be now that I have found others who are reinforcing my initial arguments. If there is anyone who has any advice about how I can make peace with my husband while at the same time sharing my spiritual journey with him, I would be very appreciative.

Peace cellobykasia..
Forgive my bluntness.. but I'll be frank...
Prepare for the worst... your husband is a 'damaged good' and cannot be changed.. thus keep it as it is..
Your children however still has some bright future... keep them away from the insanity of religion..
Our children don't deserve to inherit our insanity..Salam / Peace

Do not worry about your bluntness. I do, in fact, believe that in some ways you may be right. In the end, it is battle of the ego's that cannot be and only ends when one side lowers their sword. To have that peace, I think you are right, I must just accept him for who he is.

uuummm rough
be prepared for more arguments but argue in the best way. Maintain your love and sense of humor
Don't panic. Allah chose you to help those who would be guided. Let me relate a storyMy wife and I were sunni
one day she say's to me "close the closet"!
I say to her why?
she say's "because the jinn hides in dark places"
so I say to her "so the jinn is in the closet doing what for 24 hours a day"
she thinks, laughs then reply's "I don't know"
then I say "poor jinn needs something to do, that has to very boring."
So we both shared a light moment.
My point is, give it time, you are also unlike me dealing with the male ego O0Muhammad Forbidden from Issuing Any Religious Teachings
This is the utterance of an honorable messenger.
Not the utterance of a poet; rarely do you believe.
Nor the utterance of a soothsayer; rarely do you take heed.
A revelation from the Lord of the universe.
Had he uttered any other teachings.
We would have punished him.
We would have stopped the revelations to him.
None of you could have helped him.
This is a reminder for the righteous.
We know; some of you are rejectors.
It is but sorrow for the disbelievers.
It is the absolute truth.
Peace

follow the good and leave the bad, from whatever source.
Peace,
Verse 285
After this it is ye, the same people, who slay among yourselves, and banish a party of you from their homes; assist (Their enemies) against them, in guilt and rancour; and if they come to you as captives, ye ransom them, though it was not lawful for you to banish them. Then is it only a part of the Book that ye believe in, and do ye reject the rest? but what is the reward for those among you who behave like this but disgrace in this life?- and on the Day of Judgment they shall be consigned to the most grievous penalty. For God is not unmindful of what ye do.

Saying Qur'an shouldn't be followed is outright kufr, I'm afraid. It means one doesn't trust or believe in God.
God and Quran is different entity..
Don't idolize the Quran.. it was written by human, translated / explained by human..
Many people 'hide behind the Quran' to support their own twisted opinion..It's mind boggling, to trust a book, a dead matter, written by human hands more than your own conscience..
And why Kufr? Kufr is "Hiding/covering the truth"..
But in any case... so be it... as it's coming from you anyway.. who do you think you are?Salam / Peace

Are you muslim?
Where do you find your point of view Jafar?
Where do you get your information?"As for those who disbelieve and reject our revelations, they will be dwellers of Hell, wherein they abide forever."
We have sent down to you such clear revelations, and only the wicked will reject them.

do you want us muslims to believe as you believe Jafar
Are you muslim?- Define what is muslim to you... and I'll answer that.. being a muslim has NO CORRELATION with Quran.. as evidenced by stories in the Quran itself...
- No I don't want YOU to believe as I believe.. I want YOU to believe as your heart tells you to believe... not what a dead matter / book written by human hands and explained by Imams told you to believe..
Where do you find your point of view Jafar?
Where do you get your information? My own conscience tell me that..
Where did Abraham get his inspiration from? Quran? A book?
Where did Noah get his inspiration from? A book? Hardly.. paper is not yet invented during his time...Where did Pharaoh get his inspiration from? A book called the "Book Of The Dead".. written by human hands and authorized by the egyptian high priest..
It was the egyptians who initially thought of an idea for 'a book' (a scroll to be exact) which EVERYBODY should buy (and of course sold and available through the priest) to be 'saved' on afterlife.... Those who didn't have the book and/or disbelieve on it shall not earn any 'immortality'.. (hmmm sounds familiar???)
For your education http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2-0lfJQGGswell my friend I don't want to beat up on you too bad, but I could all day and night.
No problems..
I'm used to be called "Kuffars", "Murtaad", "Satan" by the ignorant sectarians...Salam / Peace
