True Meanings of Jannah and Jahannam

I am confused confused confused confused about the true nature of the Heaven and the Hell as described in Quran,

Heaven as having

Rivers flowing Beneath
Beautiful and Wise comp[anions for Residents

Hell as

Abode of Eternal Punishments
Abode of Scorching Fire

seems too superficial as a description given by the Lord's Book

besides we have contradiction in dealing with Heaven in such a way. Then Heaven just becomes a place to satisfy the never ending sense of gratification and joy although ironically these things are advised not to be involved too much in life.

Similarly Hell tempts people to abstain from Sins only for the "Fear 0f the Fire" and not for the "Love of the Lord".

Such wrong interpretations of the Book plainly contradict the beautiful proverb"One should do good and avoid even if not Heaven and Hell exist"

I am at these crossroads, hope Lord can provide me with essential tools to finish the contradictions. Amen!!!!

It is always better to think about one's self. Abstaining from fornication is in reverence and obedience to the command of Allah the Exalted. Thereby, if someone whom you referred as Sunni with contempt hopes to be rewarded then it further confirms that he believes in the promise of the Lord as true. It is demonstrative of ones strong faith in Allah the Exalted.

You are right. There is no need to get confused about that which you are best informed! God knows what is Good and what is bad for you while you know not. This worldly things, matters and materials and men and women are but a deception and a test unto you; therefore whatever God forbids you in this world, don't you ever get involved or entertained in it for it is God's assurance that for your every single sacrifice, in praise of His Honour, He would replace each with a provision quite the unlike of them all a beautiful reward the purest, liveliest, lasting and ever thriving bliss, peace and tranquility, crowned with profound wisdom. As a result you would not hear or talk or speak and involve in such voluptuous vaingloriousness.

This worldly things, matters and materials and the men and women are a deception and a test unto you; therefore whatever God forbids you in this world, don't you ever get involved or entertained in it for it is God's assurance that for your every single sacrifice, in praise of His Honour, He would replace every one of them with a provision and as a beautiful recompense the purest, liveliest, lasting and ever thriving bliss, peace and tranquility, crowned with profound wisdom. Dear brother, I believe the answer lies in the Qur'an.

Please look at the following ayats below

But unto him who shall have stood in fear of his Sustainer's Presence, and held back his inner self from base desires, paradise will truly be the goal! (7941)

?O David! Behold, We have made thee a vicegerent on earth judge, then, between men with justice, and do not follow vain desire, lest it lead thee astray from the path of God verily, for those who go astray from the path of God there is suffering severe in store for having forgotten the Day of Reckoning!? (3826)

O YOU who have attained to faith! Be ever steadfast in upholding equity, bearing witness to the truth for the sake of God, even though it be against your own selves or your parents and kinsfolk. Whether the person concerned be rich or poor, God's claim takes precedence over either of them. Do not, then, follow your own desires, lest you swerve from justice for if you distort , behold, God is indeed aware of all that you do! (4135)

Therefore, it is quite clear that evil desires are a part of human nature, but the challenge is if people can control them.

I think there is quite some trith in what Harun writes. I think the solution is in two directions
one is that in fact the descriptions of jannah must be allegorical (as mentioned in 37). If you look at the descriptions, it is mainly what an arab (or someone else in the desert areas) would be happy about; someone in the colder areas would prefer everlasting warmth and light. But Jannah should be for all of us - as long as we deserve it.
On the other hand, not all pleasure is forbidden but only that which harms others or/and ourselves (if it harms others, it also harms oursleves). Alcohol is not forbidden because it is pleasant but because it gets you drunk and causes accidents, rude behavior, criminal acts. The same for other things forbidden is not pleasure, but excess that makes us forget about others, about our creator and about our duties.

Among the signs mentioned in the Qur'an are many things beneficial for us, like all the different fruits (699, 134, 2053 or in general 4513). Why should they have been created if we should not take benefit of them. We should enjoy them but not forget to be thankful to our creator for all of that.

The whole discussion is going "haywire" and leading my understanding nowhere...

First things first, All things prohibited in the Holy Book ARE FORBIDDEN!......

The problem with the traditional interpretation is that "taking descriptions of Heaven and Hell at face value seems to tempt man to do good from the "Joy of Heavenly Pleasures" instead of "Love of the Lord", and avoid evil because of the "Fear of the Fire" and not because of the "Love of the Lord"..........

Hope people understand what I want to ask...and come to the real point of discussion...

I said the descriptions of" WHAT "it is like in Jannah are allegorical.

Sister Jannah already exist. Remember Adam and Eve? It is the same Jannah.

However I do not know what it is like, neither do you or any one else. All its descriptions in Qoran are "ALLEGORICAL".
