Peace to All Bros and Sis,

The whole discussion is going "haywire" and leading my understanding nowhere...

First things first, All things prohibited in the Holy Book ARE FORBIDDEN!......

The problem with the traditional interpretation is that "taking descriptions of Heaven and Hell at face value seems to tempt man to do good from the "Joy of Heavenly Pleasures" instead of "Love of the Lord", and avoid evil because of the "Fear of the Fire" and not because of the "Love of the Lord"..........

Hope people understand what I want to ask...and come to the real point of discussion...

O Lord! Guides us to the straight path....Amen!!! peace peace peace

    Peace to All
    Harun

      Peace Farida.

Funny you mentioned . God is talking about "Hell". Hell does not exist yet.

It will be created later. We will all pass by it. Some of us will fall into it.

Save yourself sister. It will be each individual facing the judgement alone with His Lord.

      Peace.

I know as the next verse 6; You will surely see the Hellfire
So we will surely see hell but Jannah is alegorical according to you. confused

        Funny you mentioned surah the Quran 37 in your earlier post which is regarding the Book;

He sent down to you this scripture, containing straightforward verses - which constitute the essence of the scripture - as well as multiple-meaning or allegorical verses. Those who harbor doubts in their hearts will pursue the multiple-meaning verses to create confusion, and to extricate a certain meaning. None knows the true meaning thereof except God and those well founded in knowledge. They say, "We believe in this - all of it comes from our Lord." Only those who possess intelligence will take heed.

I repeat .....None knows the true meaning thereof except God and those well founded in knowledge.....
So when you give your declaration under which category do you come ?
        Peace

          Peace Farida.

Do you choose to misunderstand me deliberately ?

I said the descriptions of" WHAT "it is like in Jannah are allegorical.

Sister Jannah already exist. Remember Adam and Eve? It is the same Jannah.

However I do not know what it is like, neither do you or any one else. All its descriptions in Qoran are "ALLEGORICAL".

          Peace sister.

Now you have stated it clearly. What you said earlier was this Besides Jannah s descriptions are allegorical.
Such statements are likely to cause confusion as you could see Harun's response brickwall

              Peace Farida.

God has blessed us with the knowledge of the proofs of His authorship of Quran. Souls would either advance or regress with such knowledge. The ones who advance are those who would take God's proven words both seriously and literally for they value them the way they should be valued. They would fully comprehend and appreciate how God has designed and structured His final scripture in perfect Arabic.
They would never underestimate what God says about His Quran to be divinely preserved, easy to understand, straightforward except for allegories, complete, perfect, infallible, fully detailed, and consistent without any ambiguity or contradictions.
They would distinguish the difference between truth and falsehood, divine and man-made. They know how deep, awesome, and glorious it is when God says He establishes the truth with His words. This fact instils reverence, humility, and a sense of certainty in their hearts.

You shall recite what is revealed to you of your Lord's scripture. Nothing shall abrogate His words, and you shall not find any other source beside it.

May the Lord guide all those who seek Him Alone, trust in Him Alone and clear their mind from misunderstandings and prejudice.

              Peace sister.

I am sorry brother your long sermon above is not linked to this topic, however many discussions and topics on this forum are examples of how the understanding, is not straightforward among believers.

                    Greetings and Peace, all group

                    Nothing is allegorical in Qur'aan.

                    Salaam
This is semi-atheist statement, as you overrule and belittle Allah's clear statements, and I would call it blasphemous too unless you can show me from the book that your claims are true.
                    salaam

This is easily done and shall ISA be demonstrated beyond doubt. The core of AQ is firm, no doubt; 37 states so. However, AQ clearly contains examples and allegory (metaphor and simile) in some of the non-core Ayat. Any single example proves the statement; here are a few examples (from among many) to offer as support/evidence

1335 The example of the Paradise which the righteous are promised, is that rivers flow beneath it, and its provisions are continuous as is its shade. Such is the abode of those who were righteous, while the abode of the rejecters is the Fire.

4715 Is the example of the Paradise; that the righteous have been promised with rivers of pure water, and rivers of milk whose taste does not change, and rivers of wine that are delicious for the drinkers, and rivers of strained honey, and for them in it are all kinds of fruits, and a forgiveness from their Lord; like that of those who abide in the Fire, and are given to drink boiling water that cuts-up their intestines?

2231 Monotheists to GOD, not setting up anything with Him. And whoever sets up partners with GOD, then it is as if he has fallen from the sky and the birds snatch him or the wind takes him to a place far off.

2264 O you who believe, do not nullify your charities with insult and harm; like the one who spends his money in vanity to show off to the people, and he does not believe in GOD and the Last Day. His example is like a stone on which there is dust, then it is subjected to a heavy rain which leaves it bare. They cannot do anything with what they have earned; and GOD does not guide the rejecting people.

2435 GOD is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light is like a niche within which there is a lamp, the lamp is encased in a glass, the glass is like a radiant planet, which is lit from a blessed olive tree that is neither of the east nor of the west, its oil nearly gives off light even if not touched by fire. Light upon light, GOD guides to His light whom He pleases. And GOD sets forth examples for the people, and GOD is aware of all things

                    ALLAH knows best.

                    peace

If the sayin is correct ... then interpret Heaven and Hell again...
It not.....then tell why it is not correct and why we should avoid evil and do good only because of the rewards of Jannah and fire of Jahannam

                          Harun,

I believe we should do good and avoid evil even if heaven and hell do not exist. I want to be close to my Lord, that is it, where ever God is that is where I want to be. I would go into the fires of hell if that was where God was.

I do think some take the descriptions for heaven and hell in a wrong manner. The sex orgies and women... ridiculous! I am a woman so heaven (as a sunni) was not even a good place for me, seeing my beloved husband with all the virgins.... nope made me cry. I had two options.. bad(heaven) and worse(hell)....lol Then I came here and researched more. I am not a wiz like some of the posters here.. Masha Allah, they are so blessed and help me strive to study. Most of the crazy ideas are verses filtered through hadith. I have a Quran that says the men will have "Pleasure Mates". I was like wow... what is this the "Playboy Mansion"?? It is a sick heart that views heaven as such. I don't think that heaven changes into the kingdom of "haram" We will be purer. Do things like gluttony, lust and lewdness make sense in a place called heaven? This might as well be a place of very low morality. I personally think we will be at such an elevated state we will not care for the human desires, we will remember, but it will not be as important.

Also, God knows your intention. God knows if it was for the sake of your Lord or a way to get to your own desires. If your intention is evil, do you think you out smarted the all knowing God??

What I can share are things that helped me

Heaven seems to be discussed as a place where all our basic needs are met with above and beyond quality and beauty. Food, water, shelter and clothing. No worries or fears.

For Companions well our spouses and children. Try reading this article http//free-minds.org/companions-heaven

                          Verse 225

Khalifa Give good news to those who believe and lead a righteous life that they will have gardens with flowing streams. When provided with a provision of fruits therein, they will say, 'This is what was provided for us previously.' Thus, they are given allegorical descriptions. They will have pure spouses therein, and they abide therein forever.
                          or
YusufAli But give glad tidings to those who believe and work righteousness, that their portion is Gardens, beneath which rivers flow. Every time they are fed with fruits therefrom, they say 'Why, this is what we were fed with before,' for they are given things in similitude; and they have therein companions pure (and holy); and they abide therein (for ever).

It comes down to true believers.

Discriminate against or harass anyone, (49.11/13) deal justly (4.58,135,5.8,6.152)
-Dressing discreetly (24.30/31), stay away from idle talk (23.4)

(source E. Yueksel indtroduction from his translation of the quran)
                          peace

Now if the above is the definition of believers, and the believers are the ones who enter Jannah, does it make sense that they would be the same types of people who would do as you said

But think about a man (a Sunni) who is abstaining from fornication just to enjoy the voluptuous virgins of the Jannah, who avoids taking tasty food just to make Lord happy with the hidden motive of enjoying the tasty apples (sorry my imagination but he will think this) of the Jannah, who avoids even a drop of alcohol just to enjoy the sweet sharab of the Jannah................................................the list is endlesssssssssssssssssssss.............................??.......I am still confused

Jannah is more than just avoiding the desires, you need to live all aspects or your life in a certain manner, as best you can. Those with false intentions, would have a hard time keeping up that facade.

Hope you understand what I am saying.

                          May God bless us all.

I know it's a huge thing to ask but could someone pls read the truth-contest(with religion), there are some pretty interesting stuff and explanations that are logical and make sense, but I'm not sure if its compatible with Islam...so it would be great to talk to someone about it who is muslim

Peace to all bro and sis
I am confused confused confused confused about the true nature of the Heaven and the Hell as described in Quran,
                                Heaven as having

                                1. Rivers flowing Beneath
                                2. Beautiful and Wise comp Every person tastes death, then you receive your recompense on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever misses Hell, barely, and makes it to Paradise, has attained a great triumph. The life of this world is no more than an illusion.

Sometimes we are guilty of overthinking when the truth is right in front of us .

                                Peace

                                  Salam Harun

Similarly Hell tempts people to abstain from Sins only for the "Fear 0f the Fire" and not for the "Love of the Lord".
Such wrong interpretations of the Book plainly contradict the beautiful proverb"One should do good and avoid even if not Heaven and Hell exist"

God says in the Quran once from Muslims that they have entered into Islam, but that they are not yet believers - as we are not believers when we don't commit sins from fear of hell.
Paradise and Hell are allegorical and why? because they want to make us think and in the end it will lead us to recognize that we always reap what we have premised - the end of this path should be peace and love, then we will get that.
i don't know if this really helps jedi
                                  peace
