if you are speaking about a 5 daily prayer with prosternations towards a statue in the form of a cube stone somewhere in the desert, i am afraid i can't help you.
This ritual don't exists in my religion.

    Peace

    I am wondering too...
    AGAIN!
Lately feeling that there is something not quite right about those 5 daily ritualistic prayers...

      Peace Godsubmitter.

Please allow me to share with you the following, from my own experience

My trials and tribulations over my early years as a believer have taught me that all my doubts were from " Me/ my companion/ my bad self/ satan..." and all my certainties about Qoran were from God.

I got some of my answers from sura 35

First ,God never breaks His promise

O people, God's promise is the truth; therefore, do not be distracted by this lowly life. Do not be diverted from God by mere illusions.

      Second who the enemy is

The devil is your enemy, so treat him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be the dwellers of Hell.

Third , can I always tell what is good for me?

Note the one whose evil work is adorned in his eyes, until he thinks that it is righteous. God thus sends astray whoever wills (to go astray), and He guides whoever wills (to be guided). Therefore, do not grieve over them. God is fully aware of everything they do.

Fourth,Dignity comes from God ,not from men

Anyone seeking dignity should know that to God belongs all dignity. To Him ascends the good words, and He exalts the righteous works. As for those who scheme evil works, they incur severe retribution; the scheming of such people is destined to fail.

fifth,My relationship with the Lord is for my own good, to nourish my soul and

O people, you are the ones who need God, while God is in no need of anyone, the Most Praiseworthy.

No soul can carry the sins of another soul. If a soul that is loaded with sins implores another to bear part of its load, no other soul can carry any part of it, even if they were related. The only people to heed your warnings are those who reverence their Lord, even when alone in their privacy, and observe the Salat. Whoever purifies his soul, does so for his own good. To God is the final destiny.

God Alone provides the answers, God Alone leads you to certainty. It is His promise to those who keep persevering and stay loyal to Him Alone.

May God keep helping and blessing you.

      Peace.

I agree with all your meticulously observed points good logic,

          Thank you @good logic.

I agree with all you said.

But it doesn't answer the practical question raised by @Harun.
Should he ask the permission everyday in school to get out during the classes to perform the ritualistic "contact-prayer"?
Should someone flying intercontinental flight for several hours in the plain, go to do ablution in the loo and perform the prayers in the aisle?
What about a bank clerk working mostly during the 3 prayers during the day, should he get out of his place and find an isolated room to perform the ritual every day?
There are many examples of course...

            Salaam All

What is the gain from Salat ?
if it is for God, is it possible that God beneficiate from action of Humans ?
if it is for us, are people doing ritual Salat more smart with more knowledge about God than people studying words of God ?

spiritual salat, by thinking, meditating and reading words of gods are of obvious interest for who practice it.
body Salat are praticed in all religions, even pagan ones, and there is no need for books or words from Allah.

God is of infinite IQ. What is the gain for him that who believe in him make rituals like those who whorship statues ?
Salat is for own salvation, it leads to the true path.

Who gains,? what is the gain ? are importants question in the search of what is Salat ?
Reading then quran will convince those who use their brain and don't accept easily as words of god the words coming from other books.

Quran says quran is complete. Quran never says "see in that other book" what is needed to complete your religion.
The only books mentionned in Quran are Torah and Injeel. But quran told us to be aware when reading them because of manipulations.

Submitting to god and only to god is difficult. It impliessubmitting to God before submitting to our cultural identity and what are our parents, neighbors and loved ones do.

GOD is eveywhere and reads even in our mind.
God is of infinite IQ. Infinite IQ never asks for stupid things.

            Peace

              Peace All.

Having some private time with your creator is the issue for me.

What is wrong with connecting with your maker to wash away your daily toxic brain viruses that get in there throughout your interaction with his creation?

Of course you do not leave your duties whether at work or elsewhere. God does not ask for difficulties? Remembering your Lord is" inside "you? Has He helped by putting that instinct in humans?

Let us meditate on God, His glorious attributes, who is the basis of everything in this universe as its Creator, who is fit to be Served/worshiped as Omnipresent, Omnipotent, Omniscient and self existent concious being, who removes all ignorance and impurities from the mind and purifies and sharpens the intellect.

Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is One God!
Therefore you shall adore the Lord your God
              with all your heart,
              with all your soul,
              with all your mind,
              and with all your strength.

If this life is more important to you, then you are entitled to that choice as well.

5329 You shall disregard those who turn away from Our message, and become preoccupied with this worldly life.?

              Peace.

I fully agree we should try to have some private spiritual contact with the Creator.

But does that REQUIRES me to go out of the ONGOING CLASS and HAVE the SPIRITUAl CONTACT with half my mind thinking about whats going on in the class and the other half thinking about what are the people thinking

                Please answer directly,
                from Harun and GodSubmitter,

A duty is a duty. You do not leave your duty until it is finished. That is also a requirement from God.

                  A simple answer is NO!

                  Peace.

Sorry, GoodLogic. I didnt care to read the whole thing.

I hope the point is clear.

So I don't need to go out of the class to Commemorate and seek private connection with the Lord.

But still the Salah articles in freeminds.org don't emphasise the fact.

                    Hope you will comment further.

I personally think that one should concentrate on a task at hand, if one is in the class, then on that; because, if one tries to concentrate hard on two or more things that might lead to schizophrenia.

spiritual salat, by thinking, meditating and reading words of gods are of obvious interest for who practice it.

                      and with all your strength.

So you see @good logic, in never says "with your body" !

I am happy the Bible verse says that. But are we following the Quran or the Bible???

If a Quran verse says something like that, It is no prob to accept that, but Bible???

                          I DO NOT KNOW!
But I am not ashamed and not too proud to admit that I don't know.

                          And nobody knows!
No-one knows, as this Forum attests with innumerable discussions about salat, solaa, contact prayers et al, without any conclusive answer at all!

What I think is, that to have blessed life, and for our salvation, we need only the things we understand with the natural light, what we understand with our normal reason, and we do not need those unclear things from Bible or from Qur'an which even the scholars do not understand (like surah initials or unclear passages from Torah).

If there is NO CONCLUSIVE ANSWER at all... then how could we say QURAN is a CLEAR BOOK WITHOUT ANY DOUBT.

So, There should be a conclusion.

                                Peace Friends,

I am confused as to how serious the regular maintaining of the Salah is mentioned in the Quran. I mean, suppose I study in a college and during my classes, their is time for the Middle Prayer or the Evening Prayer,

So DO I NEED TO GO OUT OF THE CLASS IN BETWEEN IT IS GOING ON BY TAKING PERMISSION FROM THE PROFESSOR, OFFER PRAYER IN THE SPACE MEANT TO BE A COURTYARD etc... AND THEN COME BACK FOR THE CLASS???...there comes no question of going home for the salah during time I am out of the class.

So I should do this??? or can I skip that Salah???? or can I......(.to be completed by you....)?????

I don't think there is something like Kaza or Kadha Or Qadha Salah if we consult the Quran Alone. Qadha actually says we can postpone the salah and offer it later but Quran says nothing like that.

So I will be happy if people post suggestions as I am in real state of confusion....

Please correct me if I am wrong at any point.

                                Peace for Friends
                                Harun

                                Salamun alaika,

                                Your concern is valid since

is passive participle from verbal noun "Waqatun" of Baab Zaraba-yazribu, denoting appointed duration of time. Hypothetical situation of being in class room should not pose a problem for adjusting time for the As-Salat. A period in class room is ordinarily of 45 minutes. You can conveniently adjust your Formal time bound protocol of allegiance and servitude, either before the class or after the class.

3356 God and His angels YOUSALLON ON the prophet. O you who believe, you shall SALLI ON him, and comply completely.

how did GOD YASALLI on us ? did he make sojoud towards Qibla ? how angels Do ?

Salat is connection to God through his words.
connection imply that there a network in wich God and His angels are always connected.

unfortunately, there is people that rejects the connection and waste their time searching for stupid rituals they know they will never find in quran.
They ask for verses and when verses are given to them, they reject them.

They says, there should be another way to do salat other than reciting and thinking about God words.
They says why God hide us the good way to do salat ?
They says in wich book other book of God can we find the good way ?
They says Since God failed to show us the good way in his book, who can tell us what is the good way ?

Quran means Lecture. When should we lecture the lecture if salat is not lecture the lecture ?

                                  Peace

                                    Peace noshirk.

I said to Godsubmitter sura 35 answers some questions about " Salat"

You said quote of course, if you don't want to accept that SALAT=Recite what is inspired to you of the Book, i can do nothing.

                                    Sura 35 says

Surely, those who recite the book of God, observe the Salat, and from our provisions to them they spend - secretly and publicly - are engaged in an investment that never loses.

It seems recite the book and "salat" are two different things?

                                    Peace.

If there is NO CONCLUSIVE ANSWER at all... then how could we say QURAN is a CLEAR BOOK WITHOUT ANY DOUBT.

So, There should be a conclusion.

                                      Peace
                                      Harun`

                                      Salam Harun

I am sorry if I come across a bit harsh.

I think you should look in the Quran and ask yourself if it is a book with rules how you should physically please Allah or a book with rules how to get spiritually closer to Allah. You should look at the society you live in and see how you can implement your religion into that society, not the other way around......because frankly you are trying to follow rules that are formed by muslims in a muslim community while living in a secular state. You are never going to suceed if you are trying to please both.
You have to let go of the idea that the Quran is a book with rules. Instead you should embrace the spiritual side of the Quran and how to walk on this earth with Allah in your heart at all times. You should have your salat (connection) morning, day and evening. There is nothing to my knowledge that states that God will not hear your prayers because you did them at the wrong time or by using the wrong procedure. You should remember the Umma, to live in peaceful co-existence with non-muslims. If we are in minority, we have to adapt or move.

I got the same "problem" as you do. If I were to perform salat at the tradtional times I would get fired.......so I don't.......I think Allah would have little understanding if I decided to stick to the "rules", eventhough it meant I would lose my job, not making it possible for me to support my family.
In your case I dont think Allah would understand why you are neglecting your education and effectively segregating yourself from the norms of society by leaving class to pray.

This is actually quite common and it is not really a big deal. Do you think muslim surgeons leave the patient on the operating table because they need to pray? Do you think a muslim fireman lets the house burn to the ground because it is time to pray? Do you think your teacher (if he was muslim) would leave in the middle of class to pray? I am not trying to belittle your problem, but the fact is that in many muslim communities they do not drop whatever they are doing to pray. That would mean for example traffic would come to a complete halt five times a day......and it doesnt so I know the muslim drivers wait with prayers until they reach their destination..

The answer is in the Quran, it is the Umma the Quran explains. Our "job" is to create a society with acceptance for all kinds of people. It teaches us to be humble and to respect one and another. If you are in minority and it is not the norm of society to pray you are the one that will adapt......or move....but thats a bit drastic I guess.

                                        Salaam,

I attend University and I have a five hour block of classes, two days per week, with only a 10 minute comfort break after approximately 2 and a quarter hours-I kid you not! By this arrangement, I would miss one of my prayers, but I leave the class towards the latter part of it and go to pray. To me, even that is a big deal because usually I pray as soon as I feel the prayer has become due, and don't leave it so late. The biggest hassle of all can be trying to find a room to pray in, but Alhamdulillah, I always find somewhere in the end. I don't know, I don't want to feel burdened by constraints and commitments. I just want to worship at the times, I feel I ought to be. God is more important to me than learning about social behaviourist theorists. That was just my feeling anyway. I don't have any specific Qur'anic quotes to support this.

                                        All the best.

                                        Salaam.

                                          Peace es,

You are so devoted I am impressed. That is a pious believer!

God surely appreciates it and you have Quranic backup, but I cannot quote anything on this smartphone.
