Why so boring now?

Salamun Alaykum,

No offense to anyone, but this forum is not as interesting as it used to be for some reason. I mean, there were times where I spent hours and hours studying posts etc. but now I feel that there is a lack of interesting discussions here. Is it just me, or does someone else feel the same?

Did you know that there were Christian tri-theists around during Muhammad's time? They were condemned by the mainstream churches. Would explain why the term 'Trinity' never occurs in the Quran, just the term 'three' or 'third of three'. See more here

After a certain amount of time on here you've read and discussed all that needs to be discussed. But to each wave of new people to the forum, all of the topics you think are "meh" are to them the most incredible novelty they may have seen in their lives, given the nature of the subject matter of this forum.

At this point, it's time to start acting and becoming a proactive member of society. You are no longer obliged to search for truth, for you have been guided to the oasis of knowledge and you have drunk from its springs. Well, you gotta now pee that knowledge out, know what I'm saying?

Quran teaches a very simple lesson and guidance on how to live a good life..

It's not hard to understand at all.. thus there were not much to discuss anyway..

But sometime human is not satisfied with such simplicity, and they tend to question, dig up and conjecture on things which doesn't really matter and not related to the lesson on how to live a good life.

Most of my posting on the discussion on this forum are aimed to show exactly that...
Basically a reminder or an invitation to go 'back-to-basic' kind of approach, focusing on things which is important and disregard the rest which are irrelevant.

Although the lesson and guidance is simple, applying it on our everyday life is far from simple..

Thus there's actually not much there to learn or dig up, yet there's so many things to be done..

I agree with you that the message from the Quran is a simple and straightforward one. The cornerstones are very clear and easy to follow in my opinion.

Another important message I have come across in the Quran is one of relaxation. For example, the Quran speaks many times of patience - this encourages a calm approach. There is also the message that in the remembrance of Allah do hearts and the self find rest. (132 We are encouraged throughout the Quran to remember Allah often, this can be in the most simple way for each individual. This will encourage rest and peace. Words of peace, which avoids stress, when confronted with ignorance or ignorant attitudes is also encouraged. (2563)
In my personal view, there is a level of 'flexibility' with the Quran, in terms of how much to give in charity, what type of charity to give etc. Salat is also open I believe depending upon an individual's limitations. This type of flexibility, in itself, is relaxing and cannot be compared to the practices and attitudes found in those who follow religion based on hadith.

There are likely multiple reasons, but I think the most common ones would be

MANY subjects and verses have been discussed in detail throughout the years on this forum, so members are less likely to engage in discussing them once again. This is perhaps more true for longterm members. I estimate that about 90% of subjects/questions asked have already been discussed.
Many members only use certain sites, such as this one, for their needs. Needs change. If you have a question about XYZ, you ask it, it gets answered or resolved to your satisfaction, no need to stick around.
Member drop-out, which is natural and happens in all forums. Ebb and flow etc.

In terms of online forums for Quran based islam, free-minds.org/forum is easily one of the best in my opinion. I do recommend spreading one's wings however, and frequenting other sites etc. And especially books (<--- click), as they tend to have some great insights also.

I think it is because you have improved your understanding of islam. You have reached a higher level. You have expanded your mind. Hence, the forum might not seem as interesting as it was for you in the past.

Another reason why the forum might seem less interesting to you, is because some of the members with deep knowledge, that used to participate in this forum in the past, are no longer posting in this forum. Those heavyweighters wrote many great posts. But unfortunately they left the forum.

I am not sure exactly why those members who wrote great posts have left the forum, but perhaps it was because they felt that they can spread the message of the Quran and contribute to Islamic reform in a deeper way through writing articles and books. Many people think that forums can make them stagnate, instead of making them grow. Perhaps that's why they prefer to spread the message of the Quran and contribute to Islamic reform outside of forums. It seems that many forums have a lot of members that are talkers instead of walkers (doers), and participating in forums can demand a lot of people's time. So I can understand why many people leave forums. But personally I don't think a forum will hinder a man/woman from growing and developing himself/herself, if he/she use it wisely. A forum is a tool that can be used to build our skills up, or destroy us. In other words it can be used positively or negatively. Even water can kill. But most importantly, water can heal. We are the ones who are responsible, and we are the ones who have to make the right decisions.

I think forums are great tools, and personally I have learned a lot from reading the posts of different members in FM. Sometimes I have read posts here that have inspired me. Sometimes I have read posts here that have comforted me when I was sad. And sometimes I have read posts here that gave me hope when was hopeless. I am here to share my thoughts and views on different topics, especially Islam and Quran, and I am looking forward to read the posts of my fellow brothers and sisters who are sincerely seeking for the truth.

Brother, I believe this forum is a place where you literally can change lives. If it had not been for this forum, I would probably have many unanswered questions when it comes to monotheism and Quranic Islam. This forum is a place where we can contribute tremendously to our brothers and sister by gaining knowledge about the Quran and islam and sharing it with them. If you think that this forum is not as interesting as it used to be, why don't you do something about it? There is a saying "Be the change you want to see in the world". You have no idea what kind of impact your words might have on other people. Your words can touch their souls. Your words can lift them up and give them the strength they need to go where they wanna go and to be what they want to be.

I must admit that I agree with you, this forum is not as interesting as it used to be. So let's do something about it. I will gladly participate in this forum to make it more interesting. But I can't do it alone. If other members that are knowledgeable about islam and the Quran share their knowledge, we can all make this forum highly interesting and perhaps even bring it back to the heights of greatness.

Last but not least, the most important thing in our lives is not to make a forum more interesting. But the most important thing in our lives is to strive to make this world a better place. We should work for the greater good. By doing many good deeds, even dough each good deed might be small, like raindrops, all of them mixed together will become a vast ocean. An ocean that will wash away the dirt of all the negativity that we see around the world.

From a Quranic perspective, the best servants of God are those who spread the message of the Quran, contribute to Islamic reform, do good deeds and have surrendered themselves to the creator of the whole universe.
