Lol at the harp Someone has watched too many Hollywood movies about heaven

    Shalom,

Hollywood and western depiction of Heaven is the most boring concept in the universe. All white, sit on a cloud, play your harp.

    Anyways, here is a proposal.

From the perspective of HRM (Huri Resource Management)

    Huri Union

If I get 72 and you get 72, if we share, we have 144 in our huri collection. So, by joining my union, you not only exceed the limit of 72, you show that "Sharing is Caring". Or, what about...your taste changing with time ? No worries. The more member we can get in our union, the more powerful our huri-base becomes.

    1 member = 72
    2 member = 144

    Example of our potential

    No. of Huris Union members
    72 1
    144 2
    720 10
    3600 50
    14400 200
    72000 1000
    720000 10000
    7200000 100000
    72000000 1000000

So, if we can only gather a million union members, we will be able to hit jackpot of 72million* hurris in the inventory.

    • At any given time the number of hurris available for playing harp with you ( ) is less than the total number of huris in the inventory.

    Some attractive offers

    • Traditionalists can get their hurris delivered in POST BOX style outfits.
    • In extreme circumstances we may have separate circumcised huri inventories for some traditionalists.
    • For the Ahlul-Bidah, aka Wahabis we can arrange Huris just the way they were created, no modifications, thus no Bidah. Ofcourse later generation scholars will be asked to verify what is innovation and what is not. God may know better, but these are SHEIKHS . Sheikhs cant be wrong.
    • For Quran alone followers, we will allow them to interpret the rules/regularions HOWEVER "they" see fit, regardless of making sense.
    • For code 19 enthusiasts, we can ofcourse arrange special inventory sizes which are multiples of 19. Just to maintain the vibe of 19 in paradise.

Who is joining my union ?

By the way, dont be so serious, its not meant to insult anyone. I happen to be a huge fan of South Park.

    Peace

this hadith or whtever about the "virgins" may be one of those instances of debasing any metaphorical or allegorical images put forward to convey
The way some people understand things mostly reveals something about the people themselves and not the things on which they reflect, or rather not reflect.

Man has that power o making gold out of shit and vice versa. This last ability to transfom anything in shit should not be something to dwell much upon.

Well that makes sense. That they are pure beings, neither male nor female. I just get annoyed that Arab men tell each other that when they die they will have endless sex in heaven with the 7ur blah blah blah brickwall brickwall brickwall

Don't even get me started. Almost left Islam over all the man crazed sex heaven. My husband got mad because I started to refer to them as "whores" aka Hurs. I was just so hurt, I did not want to go to this heaven, but nor did I want to go to hell. He told me no one knows what they are for sure. As a sexually abused survivor, starting in childhood, this kind of thing can be very hurtful to say the least. brickwall

72 male virgins...lol NO WAY MAN, I want the best ones, the 72 who know what they are doing, I am not teaching anybody, where is the pleasure in that rotfl! yay

Peace. The hoori are finally described in this post here

              http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9604977.msg321045#msg321045

Have no fear. It is a symbolic way of saying that we shine with Light of Allah, and is for men and women equally. In the Bible, all the believers can be described as females being the bride of Christ, "I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present a chaste virgin to Christ." (2 Corinthians 112) - and yet this is not for women only!

And yes, this is a shamless advert for my topic!

"....In Arabic, "Hoor-e-Ein" means having a pure and clean intellect, and this word is used both for men and women. Therefore, the heavenly couples would be exemplary specimens of the ideal mixture of thought and deed. Imagine my dear daughter, how satisfying and blissful that society would be when its men and women would have such qualities (1329). Also remember that, in Arabic, Zauj (Plural Azwaj) just does not mean a wife, it means a companion. According to these meanings, a wife is a companion to her husband and a husband is a companion to his wife. So wherever the Quran mentions "Azwaj-e-Mutaharat" it always refers not just to righteous wives, but to righteous companions....."

I had to re-read this post... love you guys... really. I needed the laugh. I had a Quran class on Sunday 2/23 and OMG. I had to shut off the computer and leave the room. Of course old fears and anxiety came back... but I am good now. This "Sheikh" Yahya Rhodas, he was describing the breasts of these women and their ripeness for the men. I took this class to help with arabic... what I got was an unwanted shove back into my past. voodoo

Thanks to you guys, this forum and the knowledge I have gained over the past 2 years, it saved me from days of anxiety, depression and hugging the toilet... hahahaha... instead it was only about 12 hours, huge step for me )

Where did they get a person to "teach" such idiocy? He could not be being serious. It is mind-boggling. I suppose it was virtual and you might not be able to break into unchained laughter as such delirium...

The word sheikh must be about the cheapest one around. That kind of thing cannot be serious, it must be part of a plot to dishevel the muslim male mind. What kind of human failure can be able to push such idiocy and feed a tattered ego like that? If a person needs 72 virgins in the other world, what lack of self esteem may make him vulnerable to such lunacy.

I just cannot fathom that anybody can take such boudnless idiotic fantasy as true. Cannot believe it, unless there is already a guilty determination to let oneself be cheated into anything.

                        Salaam

That is the place it is an online "school". I ignore the hadith and this class was called Exploring the Qur?an. I have heard this guy speak before and not too bad, you know you have to take 50% and toss the rest, but still. That whole 3rd lesson was insane!!!

What is worse is how they believe it and hope for it. In fact he said, Allah tells us this so that we may have hope and initiative for Jannah.... well that might work for "some" men. But then again half of hell will be women so maybe that explains it...lol I am just so shocked I have yet to find an Imam speak out against it... or anyone in that type of position.

Huruf, you are so right on your comments. Thank you!

That reminds me of a joke I heard when I was much younger. It is somebody who dies and then appears to his friend. An the friend asks him what kind of life he leads now. And the dead says, oh well, I wake up you know, and I make love, then eat something, stroll a bit around and make love, then I stroll a little more, eat something else and make love. The friend says oh, well... so then, paradise is really nice. And the dead says What are you talking about paradise? I am a rabbit at the farm of uncle Tony!!

There you are. Many people fancy plain rabbit reincarnation. Since rabbits reproduce quickly I suppose they the 72 virgin rabbits every so often is manageable.

The most important 'hoor' is actually mentioned in the Bible

Rev 219 Then one of the seven angels ... talked with me, saying, "Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife."
Rev 2110 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
Rev 2111 having the glory of God. Her light like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.
                                ...
Rev 2116 The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed twelve thousand furlongs. Its length, breadth, and height are equal.

This bride or 'hoor' is actually a figure for the city Jerusalem which is a perfect cube. The perfect cube represents the Holy of Holies in the Temple (it also was a perfect cube) in which the glory of God (=Light of Allah) shone.

This symbolism is very common in a Jewish Christian work written about 100AD we read, "The woman whom you saw is Zion, which you now behold as a city being built" (2 Esdras 1044)

It is in this context that the 'hoori' of the Quran and hadith need to be interpreted.

I read somewhere i dont remember the fountain well but i can research again if you want, that Huris are not female but male genre, so that old idea of virgin females for man i think its just hadith adaption, Huris i think mean purest not virgin.. but im no arabyk fluent so someone here will explain you better than i

So the sentences describing the houri are all mistranslated?

Just found a rather interesting reference to Jesus sleeping with 5 virgins

And ye shall be like the wise virgins which watched and slept not, but went forth unto the lord into the bridechamber ...
He said unto us The five wise are Faith and Love and Grace and Peace and Hope. Now they of the faithful which possess this (these) shall be guides unto them that have believed on me and on him that sent me. For I am the Lord and I am the bridegroom whom they have received, and they have entered in to the house of the bridegroom and are laid down with me in the bridal chamber rejoicing.

para 43, EPISTLE OF THE APOSTLES
                                    http//www.earlychristianwritings.com/text/apostolorum.html

However with names like "Faith and Love and Grace and Peace and Hope" it is clearly not literal. Just to further clarify the non-literal interpretation of the hoori.

                                      Richard,

I do recall in an angelology class the distinct mention of 72 virtues.. which were ancient angel names/attributes of God. The Kabbalists also cling to this 72 with a way of contact and such. Interested on getting your perspective on this. Odd that this number 72 is found in older texts but as virtues not virgins.

                                        in 55.56
                                        55.72-74

It is not speaking about no males having touched anybody, it speaks about human beings, it is not man as opposed to woman, but human being. It is addressing the inhabitants of paradise, female and male alike also in 56-36.

Abkar does not need to be virgin, the meaning of the root and of the word itself is wider than that. Virgin is just a choice of meaning, not the obligated option.

The understanding of these ayas and the subsequent translations are very much culturally shaped.

                                        Salaam
