I feel salah is so critical to islam that I can't imagine the widely accepted style of prayer is somehow incorrect. I understand that Allah gives three times of the day in the Quran, but it's hard to believe that Allah would allow this extremely important aspect of our faith to be practiced incorrectly by the majorities.
I feel God's nature is so critical to christianity that I can't imagine the widely accepted doctrine of trinity somehow incorrect. I understand that God says there's no God besides Him in the Bible, but it's hard to believe that God would allow this extremely important aspect of our faith to be understood incorrectly by the majorities.

For months I joining this forum, I found some important regarding bowing and prostating (ruku' and sujud).
Some members in here intepretate ruku' and sujud as phsycall shalat.Mainly they based on Classical Arabic and some tafseer books.
Some members in here intepretate ruku' and sujud as allegorical one, because the real meaning ruku' and sujud have more than one meaning rather than just phsycall bowing and prostating.
Meaning of sujud/sajada lowly, humble, submissive, worship, adore, prostrate, make obeisance, lower/bend oneself down towards the ground, lower the head, to salute/honour/magnify, to pay respect, to stand up, to look continuedly and tranquily.
Meaning of ruku' bowed, bent, incline, humility, humble yourself, lower the head.
I will not give further explanation cause it already been discussed in the past thread.So just use search tool.Then you may found different intepretation.

Islam were handed down to majority of Muslims by their parents. I was one of em. If my parents have been worshipping a a yoga mat i would probably have done that. Which doesnt mean though i love them very much, that they are right. If you ask the average muslim about the religion most if the time they cant even answer a simple question. My immediate n extended family are muslims and they hardly know anything except what they have been taught by their parents.
I started to ask questions about religion a couple of years ago and thats how i started to uncover the lies and fabrications. It was very confusing and i was in denial. I've asked myself many times the same questions u have been asking. I couldnt believe how could billions of ppl could be doing something wrong.Life is about discovery about learning by mistakes. There is no absolute right. Salat is a personal conversation with you and god. What works for me doesnt necessarily works of anybody else. A the end of the day god will judge everybody for their effort and sincerity.
I told myself that when i stand to answer god at least i want to say i tried to find the truth rather than follow these herds of muslims to a slaughter house. But thats jst me.
I wish you best of luck finding the truth. I hope one day you get the answers you r looking for.

Doesn't this remind you all of the example of Abraham? Allah says to follow his example, in Quran. And what did he do? He did just that!

i accept 'bow'. but, when i take the meaning as humble, God willing, i can follow God's command anytime, anywhere. i hope this will bring only peace and unity.

As I have said before on this forum; the prostration act is not necessarily connected to religious elements but was a common very humble greeting you performed in respect to someone paying homage. Remnants of the greeting in daily practical use still exists as in Asia some people still bow their upper part of body to a 90 degree angle and even regular people often bow their head slightly towards others.
There is absolutely nothing wrong in doing the same to your Creator even if it feels you bow down/prostrate to empty air because God is unseen.

Yes, but isn't that why there was a prophet after Jesus? The majorities erred so dangerously to associate Jesus with God that another revelation came to clarify the same message. Muslims accept the Quran as the final revelation to clarify that which came before - with that being said, if salah has been corrupted (ie by Sunni methodology, etc.), why hasn't there been another revelation from God?
These ideas are what distinguish majority-following in my eyes when it comes to Trinitarianism vs contact prayer. The contact prayer has been an element of faith since Abraham. So, when I say "islam," I don't refer to islam by label but by meaning (peaceful submission to the one God). As a result, the contact prayer has been critical to "Judaism," "Christianity," and "Islam." Associating Jesus as a partner with God is indeed a major transgression, and that is one clarification provided in the Quran.
Just some thoughts; I very much like all the answers here.

The problem that continually arises is that people only want to accept on definition or want a definitive answer on what it means. It's like people are just incapable or do not want to accept the fact that maybe you can perform sujud and ruku in more than one way!!
Why can't a person do either of the above mentioned things? Why does only one of the ways have to be right. Why can't I prostrate to god one day and salute god the next? If they both mean that i am performing 'sujud' then what is the problem?
If someone wants to physically prostrate then so be it. If someone wants to mentally prostrate then so be it. Their reward is with the one who created them.
Debating which is correct or which is of greater importance and is better is so trivial its sectarian!!

Well said! I agree. We will move in the direction towards a consensus or fixed criteria that will turn us into a sect. It will be like the end of Islam in its golden age, all over again, free interpretation will be frowned upon.

This verse clearly said if we must did discussion with good way.
Plus verse 2177.
" Piety is not to turn your faces towards the east and the west, but pious is one who believes in God and the Last Day, and the angels,and the Book, and the prophets, and who gives money out of love to the relatives, and the orphans, and the needy, and the wayfarer, and those who ask, and to free the slaves; and who upholds the contact prayer, and who contributes towards purification; and those who keep their pledges when they make a pledge, and those who are patient in the face of hardship and adversity and when
in despair. These are the ones who have been truthful, and these are the righteous"See, differences in fatwa and intepretation of Quran is not important in our Islam, and as long as we ijtihad on our faith, InshaAllah the reward is Jannah.

Myself still intepretate ruku' and sujud as physical shalat.
Plus this is the verse about salat janaaza (funeral player) which is one of the reason I believe if salat is physical rites.984 And do not make the contact prayer for any of them who have died, nor stand at their grave. They have rejected God and His
messenger and died while they were wicked. -

a family is a congregation. each member in the family has to pray Allah individually for all their needs. believing Allah (prayer) that He will provide their every need and stand steadfast in their belief/prayer, with this stand they help each other starting the charity from their home. when Allah broadens their heart and if Allah wills, they can increase the charity beyond their home. to live in this path the family has to be humble to each other who are humble thereby first maintaining the peace at home. prayer is not a practice, but life itself, in the path of Quran. prayer is known only to Allah and the one who pray. this is how we started praying Allah.
in this way all the family of believers pray to Allah. this prayer unites all the humble believers wherever they are by Allah. this will not become a sect, because here everyone is an individual.

Do we have to seek the help of dictionary or take a word in its literal sense always.
How about going by our common sense or conscience, leading to innate understanding by looking beyond. This kind of pondering will help us to make sense of any translation and interpretation whether it goes well with the truth in our hearts.-
A family consists of a "group of persons gathered together for worship" could be even at the dinner table - Thanksgiving Prayer.

I think what DrGm is trying to say is If we are not humble at home first, which is where it matters first, how does it matter when we are humble to general public or is it we are acting outside and showing our true nature at home. We need to remember, charity begins at home.
For eg., I am rude/angry/mean to my husband but I go out and give alms to the poor.
I am accountable to God on the Judgement Day. He is closely watching me inside my heart also - He is All Knowing. I am destroying peace at home and I put on an act for the outside world that I am generous. Can I fool God?Gita
