How is "intelligence" defined? According to whose criteria?

        Peace,

This study seems to be fairly biased. However, there might be a connection between adopting tradtional senseless religions and intelligence. Intelligent people are certainly driven more by logic and rationality and may thus be turned away by the portrayal of these traditional religions and also from God altogether. It can be a matter of how you define intelligence on the other hand. Being intelligent does not necessarily mean you understood things right, but you certainly have the prerequisite to discover the Truth.

We must remember that the majority of people in the world are not fit for God's kingdom and so there is only a minority that go to Heaven.

In my opinion, true Faith relies heavily on intelligence and about logic and reason. The traditionalists distort and mislead even the more intelligent beings. It is a big victory and achievment to be a Believer and shows that you have a strong intellect.

For example, many of the people on this forum who follow God alone are actually very intelligent people or they would not be around here and reason like this.

On the other hand, sectarians with sealed minds who parrot polytheistic nonsense day after day in their so-called house of worships could be regarded as the target of this article you submitted. Those who accept things no matter how how senseless and illogical they seem. God even explain about these people in Quran.

        God bless you

It comes from the word inter-leggere = to read between the lines, or, understand a meta meaning.

                          Shalom Aleikhem,

I personally know atheists that are as thick as a brick. Incredibility irrational. However, I must confess that that's the minority. However, when it comes to religious people, on a comparative basis, they tend to be less rational. This is not to say that there were/are no intelligent believers. However, one must notice that despite how many intelligent believers are there, no one ever brought forth evidence for the existence of their God. It seems that the intelligence is not used when it comes to religion. And when used, it is not done so honestly. Not to mention that we can not ignore the fact that these so called "intelligent believers" do not necessarily share their religious beliefs. You can find a muslim who believes in Allah and is an expert in the field of Biology and at the same time find a Nuclear Physicist that believes in Hinduism. People who are at least honest, would at the end of the day confess that it all boils down to having "faith".

In my opinion, true Faith relies heavily on intelligence and about logic and reason. The traditionalists distort and mislead even the more intelligent beings. It is a big victory and achievment to be a Believer and shows that you have a strong intellect.

Interesting how your understanding of faith runs contrary to what religious faith is in reality. If religious faith was based on reason/logic and backed by evidence, then it wouldn't necessitate "faith".

                          Peace

                            Sorry for interrupting.

Yes, atheists are smart and rational.

Religious or theistic people are irrational and superstitious.

But remember the #1 principle in statistic

                                Student of Allah,

Sorry I don't come here to try to refute you because refuting an atheist is not my interest.

                                But I am curious.
If you are now an atheist who considers Faith to be irrational and unintelligent, then why do you call yourself 'Student of Allah'? Why not Student of Evolution or Student of Big Bang or Student of Scientific Evidence or Student of Materialism?

Anyway this is my personal view. I don't consider it to be valid argument.
                                Atheists lack spiritualism.
Atheists are only focused on materialism.

Carefully and wholeheartedly studying the Qur'an and reflecting the Qur'an verses about His creations upon His creations make someone a Believer.
                                God guides whom He wills.
That's why God is hard to be explained.

You yourself said that there are also smart / rational religious people. Having Faith in God doesn't affect or worsen your education.

                                    Shalom Aleikhem ,

Sorry I don't come here to try to refute you because refuting an atheist is not my interest.

If you did not intend to refute anything I've said, you should not have dedicated your entire post in criticizing me. It makes very little sense. It's like saying " Sorry, I am not here for name calling but you are a son of a b*tch!! ".

                                    But I am curious.
If you are now an atheist who considers Faith to be irrational and unintelligent, then why do you call yourself 'Student of Allah'? Why not Student of Evolution or Student of Big Bang or Student of Scientific Evidence or Student of Materialism?

A I set this username BEFORE I stopped believing. So for obvious reason, my username may reflect my philosophical inclination at the time I made my account.

B A belief in God and Science or evolution are not necessarily mutually exclusive. A person believing in God does not necessarily refuse to accept Science/Evolution/Big Bang. In the same way, a person who accepts science does not necessarily reject God. So I don't see why you even thought about those options. I do not necessarily need an alternative of God when I stop believing in God. Much like we don't look for alternative of cancer when we get rid of cancer in a cancer patient.

Another irrational part of what you said is that you are assuming things about me. To be an atheist you do not have to be a believer of philosophical naturalism. The only thing you must do is not believe that there is a God. Then you can go on and believe in infinite number of supernatural things. As long as you are not believing in a "God/Goddess", you are an atheist.

                                    Atheists lack spiritualism.
Atheists are only focused on materialism.

Just like all Muslims are terrorists and all Muslims are illiterate bigots? No, I do not believe that all Muslims are that way. I am just giving you an idea of how irrational and asinine your assertions are. In my case, I never believed in a traditional spirit even when I was a Muslim. Now, spiritualism, without you defining what that is, I don't know if I believe in that or not.

And here is a link for you to learn more about philosophical naturalism (click me). I think I am probably into methodological naturalism. But in any case, you shouldn't act like you have provided some kind of evidence for the existence of supernatural things/beings and I am rejecting that. If you can prove that, I will believe it. It is that simple. But until the time you actually come up with evidence, please stop making it sound like one is stupid/lesser for not readily accepting your unfounded belief in immaterial-supernatural things.

You yourself said that there are also smart / rational religious people. Having Faith in God doesn't affect or worsen your education.

I never said it does, at least not in that post. I was merely pointing out a general trend I have seen and these researches complement my observation. There are other studies too where it was demonstrated that an average atheist in general knows more about religion than an average religious person. There are many such studies that complement the observation that I was talking about. I never said that believing in Gods/Goddesses will worsen your education, please don't put words in my mouth.

                                    Peace
                                    ------------ Student of Allah

Actually, the impression an atheist can get from exposure to scientific truths, can be very spiritual (Richard Dawkin's words).

What I wrote was poorly written, I admit that now and I think the meaning was not conveyed properly.

                                        God bless you

Yes, their words and research may contain spiritual truth. But there is no spiritualism in the atheists. They are materialists.
