    sushi, salaam,

I do not hink you will ever get anywhere on the premises you are. You are a prisonner of time and you put God within that prison which is exclusively yours. It is your problem not God's problem, not even my problem not even the problem of everybody. You are getting in a jungle of your own imagination, just because you have seen some jungle, may be or because you have seen some films where there appears a jungle. Your jungles are not God. Time is need for our existence, for our material existence.

And here, I will serve you,

Yes we are all predestined, ALL, all beings, all things, absolutely predistined. We are thrown in a dream of God, where time exists an the creatures in the dream live in place called "time", but they are predestined to end as soon as the dream stops.

That is what the Qur'an keeps repeating to us, WE, EVERYTHING, RETURNS TO GOD. To God leads destiny and to God is the return. Yes that is our destiny, back to God, to the essence of God. We will cease to exist in a dream and reabsorb into reality into God.

In our existence as a dream of God, we are in time, in dream, in irreality, so we have things as time, space. God does not, and he manages his dreams as He sees fit. If He changes his dreams you will know or not, may be there have been ten million sushi or there are ten milion shusi with nhundreds of millions of years in millions and zillions of divine dreams. You are just caught in one.

Do you want to understand what is in those other zillions of dreams? You can't. You can attempt to imagine, you cannot know.

You cannot get an answer to your question because your question is wrong.

God gives us knowledge but does not give us power. You do not have the power, therefore you cannot conceive, understand what power can do.

But the good news is no matter what, we are safe. Only God exist, therefore we exist, therefore we cannot not exist. We are made of the overflowing of Divine rahma, and we will return to our Source.

    Salaam

      Peace,

We need to be very mindful of every little step that we take in our life. Predestined or not, it is an irrelevant question, to us it certainly matters what we do and that is how we perceive things.

You cannot do something and get a cause of effects and then blame that on that it was what God willed for you. Then you are in danger. Take active part to uphold and establish unity and help where help is needed. Work for the betterment of the community.

      God bless you

Indeed, everyone, everything will return to God, but the "how" is very important FOR US, that is why we pray with the fatiha for God to guide us by the path of ascension, and not by the two other paths mentionned, those who strayed and those who brought ghadb upon themselves. We must look up and try to keep tot he best divine advice, so that we do not experience the constricting names of God.

        Salaam

          Thanks!

          Sure.

When people refer to poor decisions that they made, or bad things that happened to them, the cry is often something near, "If Allah knew this was going to happen, why did He let it?" or "Did He know this event x was going to happen?" The result of that question, to the weak-minded individual may lead them further from God.

I would argue that, that particular question is based on a misunderstanding that leads one to place blame on Allah instead of themselves.

In the Quran, 854 times over, the trilateral root word ('ayn lam mim) appears. From what I've read, and please someone else jump in and correct me if I've missed it, it's always present or passed tense.

(Yusif Ali) Say Whether ye hide what is in your hearts or reveal it, Allah knows it all He knows what is in the heavens, and what is on earth. And Allah has power over all things.

This is one example. Here is another.

(Shakir) Do they not know that Allah knows what they keep secret and what they make known?

The context of those is that Allah knows what you did or are doing. He gave us critical thinking, and a vessel(our bodies) to perform actions based upon those thoughts. He is aware of what we do, and is taking the most diligent of notes on our actions. Not just what we do, but why.

I would contend based upon the uses of the trilateral root word ('ayn lam mim), and what was revealed to us in the Torah and Gospel, that you should view Allah's knowledge as it relates to us humans in the context of him being ever aware(or knowing) of that which we do. Therefor, there is no trick we can pull on Him. There is no crime that goes unwritten, nor no positive unwritten.

God would not have given us free will if he intended to write our paths in stone. If he did that, there would be no way to test the true believers from the non-believers. In fact, that is another analogy to be made.

If our lives are a test for God, consider Him to be the omnipresent, all-knowing, teacher. We can cheat on our test, but He will know. We can study, and perform well, and He will know that too. If someone had a distinct advantage(blessing) on the test(wealth or something that others lack) but did not use it to achieve a comparable portion to that advantage, then He knows that too.

The Quran tells us that Allah knows things that we will never know, but I feel that we have been given many signs that surely has given us free will and that He knows all that we do.

          I hope that extrapolation helps.

          peace

          Peace Existential1,

I like your post. It's clear and also it's not trying to be "funny". I don't understand why some people get so defensive when these kind of questions arise or when they try to be indirectly sarcastic.... oh well....

Anyway, I totally get what you mean. But what do you think God's reason was for asking about Moses' staff?

So you believe that God knows everything, God knows what we will do and what we have done. I agree with the fact that God knows what we have done and God sees/knows what we are doing at the present time. But the "does God know what we WILL do?" is another matter for me....

          peace

            Peace,

Somehow through this logic it does seem redundant to pray for anything, do you not think?

Yet there are a lot of narratives in the recitation (Quran) about people in the past implored their Master about certain wishes which were granted. And still if God knew what each individual would do then the test would be redundant because God could already judge and be done with it. Do you think we are here for fun?

God is aware of everything that in the world and in ultimate control. That is true. And God has knowledge of every fact and thought that is generated by people. And God follows us in real time.

But there needs to be proof that there is no free will or free choice because nothing suggests it. But there is no free fate very surely. If God willed something then it does not matter what you did to prevent it but it will happen. Even if you are many in a fortified castle you would die against a small army if God willed or wills. You would die from a cold if God decides that.

            God bless you

            Man Of Faith,

Firstly, I take offense by what you say.

"Do you think we are here for fun?"

Funny that. I clearly thing my creator is just playing a little game with us all... OBVIOUSLY we are here for fun ?_?. Can you not make these kind of comments towards me please. I don't appreciate it. I don't make those kind of snide comments to you, so I appreciate if you have the same respect - thanks.

God indeed follows us real-time i.e. at the PRESENT moment yes - 100% agree. I never said otherwise.

"But there needs to be proof that there is no free will or free choice because nothing suggests it."

Interestingly, you put free-will and free-choice in the same basket. I'll assume you think they are the same. We'll go with that for now. Also in the above line, are you saying there is no proof to suggest that there is no free-choice? Are you saying we don't actually have a choice of our own to make? i.e. it is not our say to make the choice or not?...

"If God willed something then it does not matter what you did to prevent it but it will happen." Yes - if God "willed" for something to happen, then it is predestined, so it will happen.

"Even if you are many in a fortified castle you would die against a small army if God willed or wills. You would die from a cold if God decides that."

I don't know if you've read the article i attached in the first post, nor do i know if you know arabic (i'm not saying i do), but do you know that there is definitely a subtle but powerful difference between what the God "willed" and what it "wills"?

            peace

I have no idea what me seeing jungles on TV has anything to do with anything but i'll just pass that off...
On a serious note, I'm not really putting "god in prison" as you put it. God is encompasses everything, and I know that God is not constrained by time - that much i know. I'm SIMPLY asking to invalidate the point i am trying to make with some quranic evidence.

As i said, Ayman did a wonderful job arguing that there are things that are predestined, but the next move we make in life is NOT predestined. I'm asking you to prove otherwise. If you think this is an irrelevant question, then you don't have to respond to this message or this thread at all as it shan't be no interest to you. I simply wanted proof that this analysis of what Ayman has suggested can be disproved because this is the way I've always thought of things. As Ayman pointed out, why did the creator ask Moses about his staff? If it knows what Moses was going to do with it, why ask? God doesn't do things pointlessly....

Yes we are all predestined, ALL, all beings, all things, absolutely predistined.

So if someone wanted to drive to a chicken shop, then actually they decided to go to another restaurant, you're saying it is predestined that I was going to go to that restaurant in the first place? If it's ALL predestined, then what's the point of anything in that case? If the creator knows EVERY move we are going to make (i agree it knows about the moves we have made or are MAKING NOW) then seriously, what is the point?

We are thrown in a dream of God, where time exists an the creatures in the dream live in place called "time", but they are predestined to end as soon as the dream stops.

I agree with the above. We are predestined to end. As i said, I know that the creator knows ALL paths and ALL outcomes.

That is what the Qur'an keeps repeating to us, WE, EVERYTHING, RETURNS TO GOD. To God leads destiny and to God is the return. Yes that is our destiny, back to God, to the essence of God. We will cease to exist in a dream and reabsorb into reality into God.

Yep I am aware of this already.

Do you want to understand what is in those other zillions of dreams? You can't. You can attempt to imagine, you cannot know.

Did i say i wanted to? What's with the assuming of my questions? Of course I don't want to know. I can't know because I haven't got the knowledge or mental capacity... we are not "god"...

You cannot get an answer to your question because your question is wrong.

                It's just "wrong"...... right ok.

God gives us knowledge but does not give us power. You do not have the power, therefore you cannot conceive, understand what power can do.

God tells us to use our logic and reason - that's all i'm trying to do.... ...

                  Peace,

I read part of the article yes, but it was not very relevant and interesting (to me).

So you saw that as sarcasm? I apologize that you took offense. It was just a question to check the logic in the things discussed.

I know there is a difference if you say if God wills or willed. But you should now that there are also a lot of errors in the interpretation that makes translations look a bit stupid to say the least. We have said God willing and in fact God willing causes it to be irrelevant whether God willed or wills. With God too it does not matter about time because God is not restricted to those boundaries.

This is allegorical and just an example, but let us say that this was today and I suddenly went on a killing spree and then God decides to put me to death. Then it means it is God's will that puts me to death because otherwise God needs to know what I was about to do before I took action. And I had no say in the decision to end my life. I was fully responsible for aiming that gun all around me. It was free will and it was free choice. But that free choice caused me to have an non-free choice because God willed that I die because of my crime.

                  Or

But then God could also plan that I die tomorrow morning but I had planned to go to the mall. It is conflicting desires, but against that I have no say. By the morrow I drop dead.

Anyway. We can do this or that and play around in our temporary illusion, but if it was either due to God's planning or intervention on-the-fly then it overrides freedom of anything if God willed.

God is in perfect control and I have free will or free choice or whatever you want to call it unless God had another planning. And I am like a player character in a role playing game so I am in a scenario there and I am in full control within he boundaries of this platform's visual world, but if the programming was set to do something particular to me then it did not matter what I wanted or not. Replace the programming with God. This is allegorical how the world for us here works and the interesting thing is that if we play a game on a computer for example we play a game within he game so to say, but which game is better? And no it is not for entertainment.

And sorry if my post is boring and dull.

                  God bless you

                    Peace MOF,

No your post was quite refreshing! I'm sorry if i took offense. I'm just a bit fed up of arrogant people around me trying to be sarcastic (not you of course) but everytime I ask a question it's like people attack my throat and if i'm honest it does piss me off a bit because people think they are larger than life, larger than the creator and so arrogant up to their heads that they become an arse for it...

                    Rant over ?_?.

Anyway, if it's ok by you I want to review what you said in more detail and get back to you later? I totally understand the programming part (because I'm a programmer/software engineer for games and other things ) so I totally understand. The player has the control over where to go and what actions to perform but these actions are known by the creator of the game because they created the actions to perform. They also know the consequences of the actions to be chosen. But my point is, say you have a game (like GTA 4 for example but you probably won't know of it), there are 2 different types of endings. One where you kill one guy called Drako, another where you kill someone called Dimitri. The programmer doesn't know what the user is going to choose (what action they will take) but the programmer knows that the user/player must take ONE of those actions as they have no choice but to take one of those 2. Hence the programmer creates an "if/else" statement (if player-goes-to-drako, drako dies, else dimitri dies).

The concept you gave about dying tomorrow either way conflicts with my current understanding to be honest. I know you don't have any interest in the article, but if anything I'm mostly referring to the diagram shown. It shows that the time of death is actually constantly being written in real-time depending on the paths you take. If you jump off a cliff, you'll die at age XX, however if you don't jump off a cliff, you'll die at age YY. But you're saying you'll die regardless at age XX if you do or do not jump off the cliff? If the God wills for you to die? (such a morbid example .... )

                    peace

                      Peace,

I think you presume too much. I know about GTA4 and I have played it until the end. I does not really shine of righteousness though.

What I said was that you have made a choice to do something, but God had decided that you will die tomorrow morning. It means that God had already willed that and it would be like a trigger parameter that was already programmed. And God can have willed that you died exactly on August 14, 2014 at 331am and then you will die exactly at that moment. But like we said, God can adjust every plan in real time to suit your performance. Like games where the difficulty setting is changed depending on how good/bad you play, see? And role playing games are good examples as allegories. I had a thread called the game allegory some time ago where I used this kind of allegorical ideas to explain our faith and by often using Star Wars's the force to be God and the fight between good and evil.

It is very conjectural to talk about this because we do not really know how advanced God's programming is so it is beyond our comprehension. But I would suppose that to God everything "feels" like in real time despite already anticipated every possible move because God is in perfect control and despite not knowing what course of action that you will take then God still has plans for you by the moment a change in the course of action takes place. In the end God has a plan for you no matter if you one moment is the best and faithful servant and the other you turn mischievous so God is never unprepared. Because God is omni-present this is easy for God to do.

But no. I do not think God knows the outcome of this test because it is like in the phrase you took as offensive. But God cannot be fooled because while God has made our egos then God is in control and because a creator has perfect control of time as we know it then he could just freeze his view of the game world and without delay and just make adjustments. That was just allegorically because God can do that without any time span and it was just a show of how much we are within God's grasp. And God certainly reads our minds, all those billions of people at the same time. Is not our Master immensely powerful?

So if you test someone that is because you do not know how someone will perform.

                      God bless you

Sushi, what you ask is like a blind man asking how does green feel to the touch. For him to the touch green means nothing, because it is green only to the extent that can be seen. If it cannot be seen there is no green. It is not that God knows the future, it is that He makes the future and the past and the present an He does it now, always. I cannot recall the aya from the Qur'an, but there is such an aya or ayas. Past, present future, is your past, present, future, it is not God's past, present, future.

Your point whether you should bother to do anything because God knows the future, to you means nothing, it is not that He knows your future, He makes you now, always, and so does He with everything that exists. If God ceased to make it nothing would exist everything would cease to exist and also that is Qur'an. Nothing, not a thing, not a doing can exist without God procuring it, plotting and making it, not even el little itch in your body.

Of course he knows because it is He who does. We do nothing, we are a semblance. But in that semblance, God tells us, by His own word and by the fitra He has made us into, that we should be righteous, and loyal, and trust Him, etc. etc. so no matter what God knows or does, we do know what we should do or not do, because that we do know. It is an order or rather it is the set of conditions that He attaches to our existence. It is not a matter of whether it is for our profit or not although we are also told that If we follow our fitra and Gods revelation we will be satisfied souls, in peace and rest, in His grace. If we do not, we will be burning fuel. Those are the parameters of our beings.

I think that all that could be had from the Qur'an, it is there and the Qur'an says you do this and that for your own sake, and you avoid this and that for your own sake. So either you trust God or you do not.

Whatever, according to you, God knows, you do not know and God does not seem to want us to know. Why should He bother with having us know something that He is making all the time. Because He is making EVRYTHING all the time. Nothing just occurs or passes, He makes it. He is making us every single second. He has cared to make people conscious or capable of consciousness, ones more than others, and in His creation of us He instills the feeling of free choice, so we act according to free choice. He can withdraw that feeling and capability any time. If He did, we would cease to have free will. In fact He does so with some people, like it happens with mental or emotional illness where people act compulsively.

We are nothing but His Mercy. You say you know, and I do not doubt it, but the main objection to your premises stands, even if it does not help you that I state it. There is no future, there is no present, there is not past absolutely. We live in such projection, God does not, in fact it is God that makes that projection for us, that sets us in that projection. You say God is not tied to that present, future, past, you acknowledge it, you say, but then reason as if you didn't. It is not a matter of God knowing the future it is a matter that God makes the future, God even makes in us, makes in matter the inability to go beyond that set of parameters.

Summing up, we are blind and therefore we are unable to touch green.

                              sushi, salaam,

                              Salaam

Obviously I do not know whether God has anything we might call a dream. I am just trying to put an image in human terms of what might be our existence with respect to the existence of God and as yet I have not come up with a better allegory or whate it might be called of that relation than the relation we have to our own dreams.

A dream is not us, but does not exist out of us. Dreams are real, but they are not something with true existence. We exist, we dream. Without us dreams are not, but they aren't ourselves. It is an "emanation" of us.

When I say we are a dream of God I try to convey that relation of nonselfexistence to self-existence.

I might have clarified a little but it didn't occur to me. Thanks for asking.

                                  Salaam

                                    Peace,

I think these things about predestination is beyond our comprehension and we should not conjecture too much about how it works. The reality for us is that we live lives where our actions and behavior count and that is important because it is how we perceive things to be. It needs to logically tell that we have free will because otherwise why would God run a test?

                                    God bless you

The MAIN question, is if the creator is ALL knowing, then how comes it does not know which path we will take? If it knows all possible branches/paths and all outcomes, but doesn't know what path we will take, then how is it all knowing? Of course, I'm not saying it isn't.. But like ayman said, Moses was asked by God about what the cane was for? God obviously knows what it is but (guessing here) didn't know what Moses would do with it?

Any help would be appreciated here.

                                          Salaam,

                                          Red Here is the problem.
I understood in a different way.

                                          209

And has the story of Musa reached you?

                                          2010

When he saw a fire and said to his family, "Stay here; indeed, I have perceived a fire; perhaps I can bring you a torch or find at the fire some guidance."

                                          2011

And when he came to it, he was called, O Musa

Please note that there is third party who is giving us information about Musa. This is not a direct reported speech.

                                          2012

Indeed, I am your Lord, so remove your sandals. Indeed, you are in the sacred valley of Tuwa.

                                          2013

And I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed

                                          2014

Indeed, I am Allah. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.

This is the speech of Allah with Musa, referring Himself as "I" never "We".

                                          2015

Indeed, the Hour is coming - I almost conceal it - so that every soul may be recompensed according to that for which it strives.

                                          2016

So do not let one avert you from it who does not believe in it and follows his desire, for you would perish.

                                          2017

And what is that in your right hand, O Musa?

I believe that this was not asked by Allah, because in the following aayaat it is cleared inshaAllah.

                                          2018

He said, "It is my staff; I lean upon it, and I bring down leaves for my sheep and I have therein other uses."

                                          2019

Said, "Throw it down, O Musa."

                                          2020

So he threw it down, and thereupon it was a snake, moving swiftly.

                                          2021

Said, "Seize it and fear not; We will return it to its former condition."

One from "We" said that all not Allah. If you are confused with who are "We" 1964 may help you understand, inshaAllah.

Allah is all Knowledgeable, He does not need to ask Musa.

May Allah increase our knowledge and guide us on His path pr
