Common misconceptions about Islam - help needed
-
peace all,
Can you help with this?
Calling all budding writers and graphics designers out there.
The website Misconceptions-About-Islam.com is looking to add printable leaflets for each of its Misconceptions, so visitors can print them out and spread the word in their local communities if they wish to.
They will simply be condensed versions of each Misconception text, with some nice/simple colours, borders, pics, etc. Likely A5 in size. You can design it how you want, and the best ones will be made available on the site.
The site currently generates over 13 000 page views per month.

Salaam brother Wakas,
I humbly suggest you to add Arabic text to misconceptions-about-islam.com where ever the aayaats are quoted as it is really important as per my understanding.
AlQuraan is sent in Arabic language, so when we are quoting it, the original text must be added with the translation.
May Allah guide us all to His only path pr

I would like to compile a list of common misconceptions about Islam, that can be easily corrected using The Quran.
If you know of examples or articles discussing this, please state them here so I can review them.
The content will be released for all to use once done.

Salaam Wakas,
Can you include Prophet was not illiterate but gentile? Also to include misinterpretation of QS 2948 as argument to support prophet illiteracy.
Thanks
-
Salaam Wakas,
I stumble upon this sentence In that case, the rejectors would have had reason to harbor doubts from QS 2948.
a. I understand that prophet can read and write prior first inspiration and he is gentile but what is the connection with rejectors? I mean if you're a rejector then whatever condition of prophet, you are still reject whatever prophet give to you.
b. Who is the rejector? What is exactly what they do? What is their reason to reject?
c. Why the rejectors have had reason to harbor doubts? -
w/salaam imfromjakarta,
Sorry, didn't see your post.
2948 And not did you recite from before it from/any (the) writ/book, and nor did you write it with your hand. In that case, the falsifiers would have doubted.
Interestingly, I found that most translations of this verse may be incorrect/misleading. See corpus for word by word.
I have not studied it, but seems to imply If the messenger did recite a prior book/writ or write it with his hand, then the opponents/falsifiers would have reason to doubt, i.e. he's did this before, hence the doubt about what he's reciting/writing now.
I would be interested to know if the "min" in "min kitabin" can mean "any book" or "from (the) book", or both.

Hello Peace and blessings to you all.
I am a new user here but long time lurker. I'm not going to introduce myself here, though.
I want to congratulate you on your efforts for the website about misconceptions in islam.
Wakas, would you be adding anything about homosexuality to your website?
Having read through many posts on this forum I have seen differing views on whether it is forbidden or discouraged or allowed.I don't want to derail the topic as I know many other threads have been started about this subject.
Thank you.

Peace Wakas and everyone else,
New misconception added

Spread the word on facebook, forums, blogs etc.
Good article.
Here are a few more misconceptions about islam
- No freedom of speech in islam.
Wrong There are several verses in the Quran which suggests that the freedom of speech is compatible with the Quran (see 4140, 7180, 1065, 2013, 2764, 2855 and 334.
- All women have to wear Hijab in a muslim country.
Wrong This Quranic law/commandment is only for believing women (see 2431 and 3359). In other words, this verse is speaking to women who are mumins. This verse is not speaking to women who are muslims.
- Everyone among the people of the book are Kafirs.
Wrong See this this post.
- Muslim women can not marry men the people of the book.
Wrong There are no Quranic verses which suggests that muslim women can marry the people of the book. But there are also no Quranic verses which state that muslim women can't marry people of the book. Thus, the notion that muslim women can't marry men among the people of the book is non-quranic/extra-quranic.
