      Peace runninglikezebras.

      Just to clarify

Viruses are not unicellular. They are 'no cellular' i.e. acellular.

They can only replicate intracellularly but they themselves are not cellular.

      GOD bless you.
      Peace.

I?ve found this web page related to the topic. Well, I was wondering...what about viruses?

        http//www.answering-christianity.com/of_everything_pairs_are_created.htm

        Salaam,

I think this verse is misunderstood by many people. Many people think it talks about creatures but it's not.

        The verse says
5149 And of every thing/matter We created a pair, perhaps you may remember.
        A thing/matter are not creatures (people/animals/virus/plants/fish/tree's etc).

        Salaam,
        Bender

And observe the fact that Our Majesty has created coupling-complementary pairing-binary composition with regard to every unit thing-element that exists.
The objective of couplings - binary composition of all the created units-elements is that you people might at your own conveniently comprehend, save in memory, recall and relate.

The code-name and physical presence-existence of the things are bits of information transformed into data. If only one thing comes into the vision of a human being, would it get printed-saved in his memory? For answering this simple question we need not be specialists in psychology, nerves and brain. The answer is in negative. The saving-retention of information about the dimensions and code of a thing in the memory is possible only, and is obliged to existence of more than one and contrasting thing enabling comparative study-observation of those. The comparative study and the information about the variations, differences, measures, and relationships is the primary reason which enables their saving and preservation in the memory. The variation, difference, and relationship are at least between the two.
Let us reflect for a second, that had everything of the universe not been in couplings-duals-male female-positive-negative, was it possible for us, what to say of gaining knowledge and admonishment, even to talk and explain?

It is a dual noun. Its Root is " ". Basic perception infolded in it is that of coupling, or pairing, a thing with a thing; united it to it as its fellow, or like. Everything in physical realm is composed, constituted or is a coupling of two created things - two elements. Nothing is let to appear in the physical domain individually as an independent singular unit in itself. Its extending meanings signify couples like husband and wife; male and female; spouse; and alike groups - classes of people.

Is it not possible that it might be referring to opposites??

The evolutionary origins of viruses are still a mystery to scientists. There are a few theories though none of them have been proven.

              http//www.nature.com/scitable/topicpage/the-origins-of-viruses-14398218

Only the Virus First theory would mean a requirement to exist in pairs as found in Quran. The other theories imply they didnt exist before cells existed. In those theories they are remnants of cells.

About 1000 years before the Quran, somebody wrote a book about the same concept.

                http//www.openspaceworld.org/news/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/tao.jpg

                And even "Viruses" have "Anti-Viruses".

                Salam / Peace

                    salaam,

Not sure if opposites is the correct translation. Not sure yet what zawj means.
I have 3 at the moment 3 possible understandings in mind but not sure yet which one is correct, or maybe all of them incorrect

                    • opposites (like black and white),
                    • counterparts (like king of country A and king of country B) ,
                    • complements (like husband and wife)

                    salaam,
                    Bender

Even if you interprete the verse to be dealing with living creatures, viruses do not contradict Quran. As I posted earlier, there is no understanding of the historical evolution of viruses. As it is not proven they can come into existence without requiring cellular life - they do not contradict. Being dependent on cellular life implies an indirect confirmation of that rule. Without pairs no cellular life, without cellular life no viruses.
