    Peace

    Easy stuff!

We know that the Qiblah was Jerusalem, the direction that all previous Prophets and messengers
    faced during prayer, but then

2/143 And thus We have made you a medium (just) nation that you may be the bearers of witness
to the people and (that) the Messenger may be a bearer of witness to you; and We did not make
that which you would have to be the qiblah but that We might distinguish him who follows the
Messenger from him who turns back upon his heels, and this was surely hard except for those
whom Allah has guided aright; and Allah was not going to make your faith to be fruitless; most
surely Allah is Affectionate, Merciful to the people.

    Muhammad fond of Mecca

2/144 Indeed We see the turning of your face to heaven, so We shall surely turn you to a
qiblah which you shall like; turn then your face towards the Sacred Mosque, and wherever
you are, turn your face towards it, and those who have been given the Book most surely
know that it is the truth from their Lord; and Allah is not at all heedless of what they do.

Masjid Al Qiblatain (Mosque of the two Qiblas)

Masjid al-Qiblatain ( &#1606 (Mosque of the two Qiblas) is a mosque in Medina that is
historically important for Muslims as the place where the Islamic prophet Muhammad,
leading the prayer, is said to have been commanded to change the direction of prayer
(qibla) from Jerusalem to Mecca. Thus it uniquely contained two prayer niches (mihrabs).
Recently the mosque was renovated; the old prayer niche facing Jerusalem was removed,
and the one facing Mecca was left.

    God bless you

    peace

So are you one who turns towards the qiblah at Mecca too?

Yep! I face Mecca during salat, I mean c'mon when I was Christian in congregation,
we rose from our seats facing the podium and said prayers (one direction).
Now that I'm Muslim, the ritual prayer is different, with no chairs we face one
direction and perform salat. It's just plain nuts to have a hundred people facing
in different directions. To do it otherwise reminds me of the three stooges who
couldn't get out of each others way.

        Peace FreedomStands.

I tried to work out where GOD is, so I can turn facing Him( No gender intended with HIM/HE/...). According to Jews and Christians He lives in the sky above Jerusalem. According to the "Muslims" He lives in the sky above Mecca. According to me He is nearer to me than my jugular vein, He is also everywhere.

Those who pray to Him have to face a direction! Can you imagine the chaos if a group of people praying together faced any way they liked?

Those who do not believe in prayer/ritual and meditate also have to face a certain direction, even if they meditate upside down?

I follow Qoran , I face the window in my house which happens to face the direction of where the sun rises ,which faces Mecca...

The earth is moving ,while praying I am possibly facing all the direction/s the earth is while moving with me,my window,Mecca, thinking I/they am/are standing still.

I agree with Hawk . However, there are exceptions when in danger and you pray in your head/travelling/ill in bed.... i.e there is a danger for you to pray facing Mecca!!

        GOD bless you.
        Peace.

Very good! I do too. Of course I don't believe it if people think that Allah is some object above Mecca, but I believe Allah is closer to us than our jugular vein as you and the Qur'an have said. This direction distinguishes us from people who seem to be unable to do turn that way for whatever reason.

They might think we somehow "worship Mecca" but we know for certain that we only worship Allah.

              I agree

Allah is sufficient, The Quran informs us who/what Allah is by his attributes and those
who state who/what Allah is outside of his attributes only guess/conjecture.

              Peace good logic

What is the danger of facing Mecca?

Under unusual circumstances, you may pray while walking or riding. Once you are
safe, you shall commemorate GOD as He taught you what you never knew.

              God bless you

Well Freedom, turning their faces is a very imaginative translation to say the least. Qiblateh means role model or front figure. If your Qiblateh is almasjed al-haraam is means that is your role model. It is inconsistent that that is a building then. But if you have the "Commandments" (I call them guidelines which I deem a better interpretation) that is obviously your role model.

Almasjed Al-haram means to "do what is good/sanctified" basically, as a compound word. Watchword could be another understanding. It speaks of doing what is goodly nevertheless.

Somehow the list of commandments were lost somehow on the way despite that Jesus was very mentioning about it. Here you have the reason why they are not mentioned in Quran as to have focus on them.

It is fairly intriguing why such could be turned into a Pagan idol from an innocent word just as the innocent salateh could be turned into a ritual despite that it refers to your ways, behavior or lifestyle.

                Salaam

Is "Haram" the word you're translating to mean "Good"?

Any proof for the above, any ayats? Where do you get these definitions? Do you
make them up yourself? Do you have your own personal version of Islam (hislam)?
What is your translation of 2/144?

Peace Man of Faith, mmkhan, what is your Arabic word meaning "kill"?

Did you find your Arabic word meaning kill?

Man of Faith has an interesting technique where he paints the meanings of words by the meanings he takes each letter to have (based on apparent observation or something) and then combines those single letter meanings together to come to what he believes is the meaning of the word. I'm also very curious in finding out how he comes to the letter meanings and what words he looks at with those letters to figure out the meaning of each individual letter or whatever the technique may be.

                        Hawk99,

The "proof" is in the language itself. It is distorted in interpretation and does not say half of what traditional ones do. Obviously I do not come up with anything out of my imagination, but I use a method to derive the meanings from the language itself. The so-called "initials" of Quran have been a great help in knowing how.

2144 speaks of confusion in faith and it says that there is no confusion since they have the model of the "Commandments". And it says the scholars know this very well, but they are lost wandering in their little bubble.

It is obviously not my personal "Islam", but the one that Quran is teaches beneath all the mud it is buried in.

                        Salaam

A simple answer can be- When in danger of being attacked from behind-.

A funny answer can be- when you loose all sense of direction-/ Or you are in a strange place, you forgotten your afternoon prayer until the last minute before sunset and you have no time to confirm the direction .

This forum seems to have it's more than fair share of nutters.

Man of Faith's understanding of the Quran is quite delusional. My advise to all is just ignore what he is saying regarding the Quran. He is either mocking those who want to understand the Quran he's 2 slices short of a fudge cake.

PS. The Quran is what it is. It's simple. It contains the basic message which everyone can understand. It's got the same message as the Bible, Torah and probably most other text from other religions.

Anyone have any questions ask me and I'll clear them up for you.

You are a good one to speak. I asked you to quote the ayas on some theme you affirmed something and I am still watiing, but never mind.

You may have whatever opinion on whatever, but you do not need to prosilitize in that opinion on somebody who is writing here in the forum for everybody and which therefore everybody can judge without you preaching us on what to think about it. If you disagree go ahead a disagree as much as you need or wish, but to treat the rest of us a needing a nany to keep us from "swallowing" bad stuff is out of place.

                                  Salaam

                                    Salaam hawk99,

Unclear or not. I literally let the language speak by itself from its base, the letters they consist from.

And I do not have a word for kill at this time. It is not clear to me yet. But it is not used as much as in the mainstream Islam, particularly as a "command" to perform it.

It may contain the letter at least because that marks consciousness. Arabic words "paint up" what they like to say quite literally.

                                    Have faith

I think you'll find that I have answered all your questions. If you are referring to your question about the ayats which say the sun and stars orbit the earth you'll find them near the beginning of that topic.

I was warning those who have a weak understanding of the Quran, also those are who have recently converted. I myself was easily persuaded by some muslims on what the correct interpretation of the Quran was. The reason being that I was expected to have some false beliefs which then made the Quran more palatable to certain muslims and non believers. One example is whether the prophets are sinless. The mainstream sunni belief is that all prophets are sinless. The reason being they are entrusted with a message from God or have been chosen by God for a special purpose and God would never choose a sinner/wrong doer. There is no such "belief" in the Quran. Some prophets did sin, they were human, they made mistakes, they repented, God forgave and honoured them.

So if you really don't need a nanny then you should have understood and ignored it. If you are weak in understanding or new to the faith then take heed.

                                        True

Even though you had a problem here which is also basic in its understanding

oh boy, nope first we see the sun, then we see the moon ooooooorrrrrrrrrr,
first we see the moon then we see the sun, I know that may be complicated, but just go
outside and observe. One follows the other.

                                        Back to you post,

At least be patient and let the brother explain himself.

PS. The Quran is what it is. It's simple. It contains the basic message which everyone can understand. It's got the same message as the Bible, Torah and probably most other text from other religions.

Not so, The Quran has more details.

Anyone have any questions ask me and I'll clear them up for you.

I look forward to your input.

                                        Peace good logic

I still don't understand the danger of facing Mecca?

Are you using ancient hieroglyphics in your analysis?

                                        God bless you

                                          hawk99,

Regarding the sun and stars going around the earth thread it seems you didn't read properly. The thread was to entertain the possibility that the sun and stars do go round the earth hence it would be a major sign of God which all of mankind can observe in any generation. The verses which you think say that the God was describing an observation which is obvious to all may have different meaning which you have been brain washed into thinking by modern science.

Geocentrism is not as strange as you might think once you go into the details of it.

Good logic was simply saying that if you are in danger/trouble/difficulties then it's OK not to face Mecca when praying. Once out of danger/trouble/difficulties then face Mecca when praying. He was not saying there is danger for you if you pray towards Mecca.
