make them up yourself? Do you have your own personal version of Islam (hislam)?
What is your translation of 2/144?Did you find your Arabic word meaning kill?

Man of Faith has an interesting technique where he paints the meanings of words by the meanings he takes each letter to have (based on apparent observation or something) and then combines those single letter meanings together to come to what he believes is the meaning of the word. I'm also very curious in finding out how he comes to the letter meanings and what words he looks at with those letters to figure out the meaning of each individual letter or whatever the technique may be.

A simple answer can be- When in danger of being attacked from behind-.
A funny answer can be- when you loose all sense of direction-/ Or you are in a strange place,you forgotten your afternoon prayer until the last minute before sunset and you have no time to confirm the direction .

Man of Faith's understanding of the Quran is quite delusional. My advise to all is just ignore what he is saying regarding the Quran. He is either mocking those who want to understand the Quran he's 2 slices short of a fudge cake.
PS. The Quran is what it is. It's simple. It contains the basic message which everyone can understand. It's got the same message as the Bible, Torah and probably most other text from other religions.

And I do not have a word for kill at this time. It is not clear to me yet. But it is not used as much as in the mainstream Islam, particularly as a "command" to perform it.
It may contain the letter at least because that marks consciousness. Arabic words "paint up" what they like to say quite literally.

I think you'll find that I have answered all your questions. If you are referring to your question about the ayats which say the sun and stars orbit the earth you'll find them near the beginning of that topic.
I was warning those who have a weak understanding of the Quran, also those are who have recently converted. I myself was easily persuaded by some muslims on what the correct interpretation of the Quran was. The reason being that I was expected to have some false beliefs which then made the Quran more palatable to certain muslims and non believers. One example is whether the prophets are sinless. The mainstream sunni belief is that all prophets are sinless. The reason being they are entrusted with a message from God or have been chosen by God for a special purpose and God would never choose a sinner/wrong doer. There is no such "belief" in the Quran. Some prophets did sin, they were human, they made mistakes, they repented, God forgave and honoured them.
So if you really don't need a nanny then you should have understood and ignored it. If you are weak in understanding or new to the faith then take heed.

Regarding the sun and stars going around the earth thread it seems you didn't read properly. The thread was to entertain the possibility that the sun and stars do go round the earth hence it would be a major sign of God which all of mankind can observe in any generation. The verses which you think say that the God was describing an observation which is obvious to all may have different meaning which you have been brain washed into thinking by modern science.
Geocentrism is not as strange as you might think once you go into the details of it.
Good logic was simply saying that if you are in danger/trouble/difficulties then it's OK not to face Mecca when praying. Once out of danger/trouble/difficulties then face Mecca when praying. He was not saying there is danger for you if you pray towards Mecca.

And you could then immediately see the error in the ritual salateh too and also the even grosser error in praying towards a building in the desert of Arabia.
I agree that the way "Muslims" (capital M) perform salat, is based on man made fabrications and mistranslations of al-quran, and is no where to be found in al-quran/the reading.
There is no praying towards a cube stone idol in the desert of Arabia according to al-quran.
There is no physical bowing during salat as per al-quran.
There is no physical prostration during salat as per al-quran.
There is no facing a physical direction during salat as per al-quran.
There are no rakats/units in salat as per al-quran.
There are no 5 daily salat timings as per al-quran.
What would you say if I suggested that according to usage and context of al-quran, "aqimi al-salat" is establishing a connection with the infinite Creator and includes the following
- Thanking, praising, glorifying, and remembering the infinite Creator.
- Studying, pondering, and reflecting on the signs of the infinite Creator.
- Meditating and opening up a channel to communicate with the infinite Creator.
Would you agree that salat could possibly mean establishing such a connection with the infinite Creator? The lessons learned from such a connection can then be implemented and applied to one's life to positively alter our behavior towards others (amal salehin, performing good deeds, service to others).
Salat/connection with the infinite creator -----> lessons learned -----> application to one's life (amal salehin/altering behavior/doing good deeds/service to others).

Perhaps this forum has made some further breakthroughs in understanding the Truth. Good work!
I had suspected for quite a while that the prayer is intended to be more of a meditation than the salat traditionalists perform. I had previously worked on making the salat less ritualistic and more about meditation and this may prove I was not doing wrong. It is true that concentration is very important during salat, and the counting and moves distract the practitioner quite much. Focus on what you are really intended to do with the salat instead, like establishing a connection.

The meaning of "connection/bond" fits all occurrences of "salat" in al-quran and makes perfect sense, while staying within the classical Arabic linguistic usage.

It's understandable. There's a lot of brainwashing going on out there via media and institutions such as schools. The sun going around the earth is a concept for those who want to consider the meanings of Quran deeper and thoroughly test it it's also a concept for those who are a bit nuts.
As I mentioned before, those who read the Quran at the time it was revealed never got the impression that the earth rotates. The Quran describes the sun and stars as we observe them from earth. Which is accurate. However as it is the Quran a revelation from the God Almighty one may ponder as to why would God reveal such an obvious statement. If God had wanted to he could have easily said that the earth rotates around the sun. This would be a very clear revelation which the non believers of today could not argue against. However God does not make it clear. Either he revealed those verses for some other reason or that the sun and stars really do go around the earth.
It's not an issue worth debating with those who consider it far fetched. I just thought there may be others on forum who may have a similar view or could re-read the Quran to confirm it.
