Are tattoos allowed according to the Quran
-
quran is clear about haram and hilal in many occassions...
tattoes are not in the catagory of haram... whhich make is permissble by default...
but before doing it you better research is it harmful for your body so if you find it harmful then for your own sake you can avoid from it..
yes harming your body or somebody else body is not allowed... i mean sometimes people writes a letter to their beloved with their blood and sometimes girls and boys burn their bodies to write a name of their beloved... these are activities of ignorant...
-
my understanding is that the Quran doesn't necessarily have to list every single thing that is haram.
Like you said, tattoos are not being mentioned explicitly as being haram.
However, if the practice of harming yourself is considered haram by the Quran then tattooing yourself, which involves pain/harm, makes it haram by default.I understand that you don't think it this way as you're saying that because tattooing isn't mentioned then it's not haram by default.
I agree on the matter of using our own reasoning when it comes to such matters but all I'm doing is trying to understand other views as well, asking this question doesn't mean I am pro or cons, it's simple curiosity.
-
lie and dishonesty are also not haram, but we should avoid from it...
same beating somebody or giving urself trouble is not mention as haram but one need to understand ...the actions of wrong doings always gives us harm more than benefit...
example making a tattoe may cost you 100 pounds but removing it willl cost you 20 times more than cost... is it not a waste of money on unimportant action. will we are not accontable for every action what we did with the things provided to us by God... including money, body , emotions..
saying to a kid you are making a messy drawing will not b a truth to declare... despite knowing that we always speak truth..
speaking a lie will make a kid happy .once a kid was scratching the car of his father , his father come and slap him very hardly that he ruined his car... but after that when he look at scratches , it was writtten there i love you dad
-
If I understand this correctly, the point you're trying to make is that the word "haram" hasn't been used in instances such as "beating", "giving trouble" and by extension with words such as "pain, harm", therefore these acts are not considered forbidden per se but fall under a category of what is not recommended?
-
my brother , i make it easy for you ,,,
if you wish to make a tattoe , after researching and get satisfied there will be no health issues.. and if somebody offers you free tattoe making and removal... and you will feel no pain in the process...
then its nothing to worried about... its same like if a women get peircing in ears...
and a secret shall i tell you, a sin is not what somebody claim... a sin is what your inner self tell you ...
-
appreciate the explanation and i already understand that aspect of it.
I think you're explaining me these things with thoughts in mind about me wanting to have a tattoo.Like i explained earlier, I have no intention of having any tattoo, I like to discuss different topics with my friends and see what's the islamic views(the view of the Quran about it) and this topic popped out last weekend.
I can understand your statement about a sin not being what somebody claims but our inner self; I haven't reached that point where I can simply rely on what my inner self says.
I currently try to approach verses of the Quran by applying the Set theory, which gives me a clear indication of what is allowed and what is not.
You're point about something not being mentioned as being explicitly Haram is something I've read a few times on this forum, however it's not a view I can agree on currently(maybe because of my limited understanding)
now, coming back to your point about the tattoo and pain.
I currently hold the same view.
When I was discussion this with a friend, I said that one of the reason tattoo is not allowed, is because it falls under the Set of "Pain and Self Harm".
I added, if tattooing became painless and didn't cause infections, then automatically it would be allowed as it stops being part of the Set "Pain and Self harm"However, I remember people saying that we are not allowed to change what God created, I have not found that verse and not sure whether it's part of the Quran or Hadith. I need to read that verse to understand what it means because if it's true then Tattooing falls under two Sets
"Pain and Self Harm" AND "Changing what God created"
Even if you can get out of one Set "Pain and Self Harm", tattooing is still part of the Set "Changing what God created" and therefore you can't have it.I hope the explanation above is clear.

Well, I don't think this holds water.
For example"Pain and Self Harm"
Body training can also induce pain. Is it therefore a no-no?
The body is not harmed. It is just inked.
"Changing what God created"
Then we should not cut any body hair (which btw also can involve pain), or do any geo-engineering like dams or tunnels and such
What I'm saying is that it sounds a bit vague.
It sounds like searching for justifications for a prohibition where there are none.Peace

and moreover look into this..
it got some really medical issues involved in it...

on other hand never say to somebody something based on hadith. due to a reason... once a person told me you dnt have to shave your beard its haram...
i asked reason?
he replied its like you are changing/altering the creation of God... etc...
i replied to him... the beard is out of body and while doing it i feel no pain...
and on the other hand removing beard is changing /altering then what is the case with public hairs... the unnecessary hairs...he get quiet ... after i replied this ,

Actually I said Pain and Self Harm, both condition's have to be present. Body training induces pain but you're not self harming yourself, if you're doing recklessly and harming yourself in one way or another then I would say that is not allowed.
The body goes through pain and is harmed with the practice of tattooing, @imran posted a few links above explaining that.
However I also know that we are coming to a point where technology has advanced to a point where in future we'll be able to achieve tattooing without incurring pain and harming the body.
This is the verse I was referring to 4119, where change to the God creation is mentioned.
You and @imran both make a good point about change to the creating by means like (body hair, nails or damns, trees etc. known to be God creation as well)
That begs the question about what 4119 means then. -
That begs the question about what 4119 means then.
4119 "I will misguide them and make them desire, and I will command them, so that they will mark the ears of the livestock, and I will command them so they will make change to God's creation." Whoever takes the devil as a supporter other than God, then he has indeed lost a great loss.
if you read the subject and surrounding verses then you can easily understand whats going on there...
wasting and using are two different things...
we need to understand the satan here is challangeing to God that i will put ideas of some kind which make them harm more than good..
examples... are changing the organs from male to female...( clear changing)
appraoching somebody from behind (now a days very common) instead of the way God told us...creating atom bomb and burn all the trees without make them purposeful ... for humanity like furniture, and stuff...
but these are not the examples i want to give...
if you want examples on subject then the changing in God creation here refers to associating something with God even after knowing they are not God..
people claim the angels have female form, laat uzzat are mini gods, creating image of god and associating unnatural things with God is infact subject there...
a perfect example... God cannot give brith ...
so its out of question if we debate God gave a birth to that...and here are kids /partner/associator of godsame a man cannot give birth its women who give birth....
so at first instant its unnatural to think man give a birth to kid...thaats the actual subject... as we seee satan is quite successful in making these things in our mind and most of the people without any knowledge associate things with God... till now
-
It is clear to me that Satan is challenging God, it is clear to me that he will misguide people but the examples you've given are answers to a more specific question.
If we analyse the sentence
I will command them so they will make change to God's creation
God's creation is Human beings, animals, Trees, Mountains, pretty much everything.you're implying that this sentence falls under the category of "wasting" rather than using, so change as in waste (destroying trees, organ change from male to female)
but the verse it self doesn't give any indication to such change, therefore, it comes natural to me to believe that an act, such as cutting my hair, nails, cutting trees, working out, all fall under the category of "change God's creation" irrespective of their goal. -

God create things for the purpose... you need to focus things on larger/wider scale...
cutting your nails is styling(shaping) your nails . and digging out your nails from root is destroying...changing
cutting fruits /vegetable after that cooking them with spice is not a change its a taste giving.... yeh wasting/destroying that food instead of making it purposeful is another thing...
trees animals ,water all are the facilities for a human being to make good use of them...
time is key , time is changing every single minute. tick tick tick...
when time change things automatically change wether you do it or not...
this universe lost nothing , just things change the shape...
even real self will not get died the body died. you character wil be secured somewhere at dimenshns unknown...
God created everything for purpose , so getting that purpose from them is not changing... its very easy to understand. i dnt know why you thinking like that... even with one of your breath you inhale multiple bacteriaz.. is it not animal killing lol...
-
instead of going in to this you should understand the subject of verse , actually.. i will make it easy in old times they do different cruel stuff with people thinking that God is pleased with them doing all this... like sacrificing somebody with blood, cutting different parts of body,, and these stuff... which is clearly the way of satan.. so god is advising them not to do these acts... and the verse is an example of changing/disfiguring in God creation obviously everything is the creation of God...
?I will mislead them and entice them.? I will order them to slit the ears of cattle and disfigure the creation of God.? Whoever forsakes God and takes Satan for a friend, has suffered a manifest loss

Bold These things you've mentioned are natural changing, the verse
I will order them to slit the ears of cattle and disfigure the creation of God
It's about "them" applying changes, them/people/humans don't have control over time.
I've created another thread because this thread was primarily on whether tattoos are allowed or not, now we are getting more into the understanding of the verse 4119 (which is related but it speaks about a broader category)
However, I'm happy to talk about it on hereThe verse it's divided in 4 parts where Satan/Shaytan tells what he will do
- I will mislead them
- I will create in them false desires
- I will order them to slit the ears of cattle
- I will command them so they will change the creation of Allah
Now, leaving aside point number 3, which is another sentence I don't understand well. I would like to focus on point number 4.
The gist of this verse it's about satan/shaytaan challenging God and telling what he will do.Number 4 says
I will command them so they will change the creation of Allah
them/they refers to humans(as far as I'm concerned)
cutting your nails is styling(shaping) your nails
calling it "shaping" doesn't make it different than changing in my opinion. matter of fact change and shape are synonyms.
Change definition "the action of putting on different clothes",
Synonyms Alteration, Adjustment, Shape,Cutting nails implies a change, means being different than what they were originally.
PS I guess the reason why you use the word "change" only in negative sentences is because according to that verse, the author/main character in it is satan, therefore any change that Satan is referring to, must be a negative change, am I right?

I do not believe tattooing is 'haram'. as no mention is made of it as such in the quran, then it is not 'haram'. the quran states what is 'haram' - after that, all else is 'halal'. certain things may not be good for you, but that does not make them forbidden.
