We should study the Torah to understand this whole "Halal" doctrine. Doesn't the Quran tell the people of the Book that they have no bases if they do not uphold the Torah and the Gospel, and we know for certain that the Quran also is a Book.

How can someone understand the alphabet when learning just the last few letters. How can someone understand a book by reading only the last volume?

Especially with ruling, we see that sects do not know when or how to stop when it comes to "Halal" and "Haram". So watch out, make your homework guys!

How many times did God call the Torah and the Gospel a guidance. We can't ignore it, and take sites as free-minds etc. as the guidance and the light over them. That's plain idolatry.

I advice all of you to read the Torah to understand subjects like "Halal" food. It's very very detailed when it comes to the details.

For example, i stopped eating shrimps, because i see it as "Not Halaal", just like pigs etc.

      Salam,

If I'm not wrong, the Jews were restricted from certain foods because of their transgression that believers are not.

In Quran , all catch of the sea is permissible.

      Lastly, Quran suffices.

      Salam

Can you bring your proof? Where do you read in the Quran that every catch from the sea is permissible for us to eat? This doesn't make sense at all since we are prohibited from certain catches from the sea in the Torah, but what makes sense is that you didn't understand it correctly.

I don't think you have the right to abrogate Laws from Previous Scriptures, especially the Law itself which is called the Torah in Hebrew. But if you can't bring your proof then know that what you said is just from your own desires and a lie!

596 Permissible for you is the catch of the sea, to eat it as enjoyment for you and for those who travel; and forbidden for you is the catch of the land as long as you are under restriction; and be aware of God to whom you will be gathered.

            Greetings and Peace, all group

Do you guys agree with this article?
            http//www.quran-islam.org/articles/halal_meat_(P1156).html

            Why yes or why no?

If I for example were to buy chicken (without a halal label on it) from a simple (not islamic) supermarket and just mention the name of God on it before I eat it, does that make it halal?

I disagree with parts of the article. For instance, a believer need not pronounce anything over food before consuming it--they should remember the Almighty.

It depends on what a person means by "halal." If food is labeled halal, there are certain expectations. Although food of "People of the Book" is expressly allowed, I can't think of a single traditional Muslim who would accept kosher wine as being halal. The acceptability of alcohol is discussed at length in other threads.

Anything not expressly disallowed is allowed. Halal means "not disallowed." Meat of pig is disallowed (under ordinary circumstances), but bones are separate from meat. Bones are often used in gelatin. Fat is not meat either. Insects, such as are used in common food colorings are not disallowed. Enzymes from animals that were not slaughtered traditionally that are used in cheeses are not disallowed. This frees up all manner of hardships. I'd neither have issue with zabiha chicken nor chicken from a supermarket. I might be willing to pay a little extra to do business with a small business or for superior product, but that's about it.

According to the Old Testament, shellfish are abominations. According to the Qur'an, shellfish are edible. Since the Qur'an is enough for a believer, I'll have to stick with the Qur'an on this one.

3512 Nor are the two seas the same. One is fresh and palatable, good to drink, while the other is salty and bitter. And from each of them you eat tender meat, and you extract jewelry to wear. And you see the ships sailing through them, seeking His provisions; and perhaps you may be thankful.

The dietary rules are pretty simple and easy to apply. Simple is good; think about the people of Moses (peace upon all Prophets). We shouldn't be like these people.

267 And Moses said to his people "GOD orders you to slaughter a heifer." They said "Do you mock us?" He said "I seek refuge with GOD that I not be of the ignorant ones."

268 They said "Call upon your Lord for us that He may clarify which it is." He said "He says it is a heifer neither too old nor too young, an age between that. So now do as you are commanded."

269 They said "Call upon your Lord for us that He may clarify what color it is." He said "He says it is a yellow heifer with a strong color, pleasing to those who see it."

270 They said "Call upon your Lord for us that He may clarify which one it is, for the heifers all look alike to us and we will, GOD willing, be guided."

271 He said "He says it is a heifer which was never subjugated to plough the land, or water the crops, free from any blemish." They said "Now you have come with the truth." And they slaughtered it, though they had nearly not done so.

One thing to be careful of is food that is blessed in any name other than any of the beautiful names/the Almighty. If someone says "in Jesus' name we pray" I have to decline the food. I can accept food if someone were to say "in Jesus' name I pray."

2267 For every nation We have established rites which they are to fulfill. So do not let the matter fall into dispute. And call upon your Lord, for you are on a guidance which is straight.

            ALLAH knows best.

The Quran doesn't abrogate, it just exposes the lies and corruptions in the older scriptures.

Actually beef in US is haraam as the cow is first hit with a bolt gun in the head prior to slitting the throat. Quran talks about any animal which is killed by a blow to be haraam. Chicken is halal since it is stunned by dipping in electric bath and then throat cut. For beef the bolt gun produces irreversible unconsciousness but for chicken the electrocution does not produce irreversible unconsciousness. Heart continues to beat for both cases. Most processors follow this method as mandated by FDA. You can google if you wish. You should recite Gods name before eating anything. This is my understanding.

The cow is stunned by the bolt, and not killed by it. This would not cause the cow to be killed in an unlawful or ritually impure fashion.

Excerpt A captive bolt pistol or gun (also variously known as a cattle gun, stunbolt gun, bolt gun, or stunner) is a device used for stunning animals prior to slaughter.

The goal of captive bolt stunning is to inflict a forceful strike on the forehead with the bolt in order to induce unconsciousness.

                    Regarding reciting versus remembering...

6118 So eat from that on which the name of GOD has been remembered , if you indeed believe in His revelations.

3135, 774, 7205 should make it clear that the correct words are "remember/remembered".

3135 And those who, if they commit lewdness, or wrong themselves, they remember GOD and seek forgiveness for their sins. And who can forgive the sins except GOD? And they do not persist in what they have done while they know.

774 "And remember that He made you successors after 'Aad, and He established you in the land so that you make palaces on its plains, and you carve homes in the mountains. So remember the grace of GOD, and do not roam the earth as corrupters."

7205 And remember your Lord within yourself, in humility and in reverence; and without loudness in words, during the morning and the evening. And do not be of the careless ones.

2236 And the plump livestock, We have made them for you to be among the symbols of GOD; you will have benefit in them. So remember the name of GOD upon them in succession; then, once their sides have become still, you may eat from them and feed with them the poor and the needy. It was thus that We have made them in service to you, that you may be thankful.

Reciting isn't forbidden, of course--but many people of the world seem to make a show to other people rather than make a privileged communication to the Almighty. Nothing new of this; the Bible even mentions it. Whatever you do, be humble, faithful and genuine.

Matthew 65 "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.

                    ALLAH knows best.

The Quran clarifies a lot, and it is a Guidance and a Light. So did the Gospel, the Psalms and the Torah.

Your opinion about the Scriptures does not make them corrupt. Your desires do not make them corrupt. Your false doctrines which you spread in name of them does not make them corrupt.

And it's an honour to be able to follow the footsteps of the Messiah, son of Mary which is called Jesus. And it's an treasure to be able to obey the word of God which is called the Gospel which also means the good news.

Shellfish "haraam" according to the Torah? And "halaal" according to the Quran?

Can you elaborate on that with the specific verses from the Torah and the Quran?

Dude to be honest I haven't read the older scriptures. However, which Gospel? Which book? Authorized by King James? What about the differences between them?

Now back to the topic, A Submitter showed you the verse, what is your explanation?

An English translation of the Gospel - Matthew 77 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you 8 ?For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.?

                            So seek o brother!

And lets read this quranic verse to give answer to your question An English translation of the Quran - 547 And let the people of the Gospel judge with what God has sent down in it. And whoever does not judge with what God has sent down, then these are the wicked.

So already in the lifetime there should be an Gospel. Because otherwise how could the believers now and then let the people of the Gospel judge with a Gospel if you follow others which tell you that there isn't.

And again, we read here An English translation of the Quran - 355 For God said "O Jesus, I will terminate your life, and raise you to Me, and cleanse you of those who have rejected, and make those who have followed you above those who have rejected until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, all of you,so I will judge between you in what it was that you disputed."

Until the Day of Resurrection there will be those who followed Jesus, son of Mary, the Messiah, and our Lord will make them above those who rejected!

But there is more said to us, but to give an answer Read from Matthew until Revelations in the Bible. The Apostles helped Jesus, son of Mary, the Messiah.

Matthew was an apostle, so was Mark, Luke and John, and Paul, Peter, and others of the twelve.

The point is, the Gospel is translated so much, that people think there exist different versions. But the fact is, that the Gospel is the most translated document in the history.

To clarify about the King James translation, it's said that it's a good English translation. But it's just a translation. There is no second or third Gospel.

I don't care about what you say now about me, and i hope you will understand soon what the Gospel said. But you said, to blind to open my mind? Look at this verse

An English translation of the Gospel - Matthew 73 ?And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye??

How should i open my mind for rejecting and denying the word of God, but yet you think of yourself that yours is opened while you reject and deny the word of God?

                              Adam,

The Biblical Gospels are incompatible with the sectarian interpretation of Quran. There is no use in trying to make it conform with it.

If one has faith in Quran then the Biblical Gospels are useless.

Shellfish "haraam" according to the Torah? And "halaal" according to the Quran?

Can you elaborate on that with the specific verses from the Torah and the Quran?

Your "only" quotations, is the translation correct because why do you quote only? And right in the verse below it that you presented it said in your translation that also that which has fallen from a height, and which has been gored and that which an wild animal has savaged-unless it was slaughtered while it still lived, and what has been slaughtered on altars, and what you divide through arrows of chance is also not permissible. So check your translation, and stop having a double standard.

596 Permissible for you is the catch of the sea, to eat it as enjoyment for you and for those who travel; and forbidden for you is the catch of the land as long as you are under restriction; and be aware of GOD to whom you will be gathered.

Where does 596 tell you to ignore the rules about the catch of the sea in the Torah? And do you even yourself follow 596 when it tells you to not eat the catch of the land if you are under restriction?

Anyways, thank you for sharing the Torah. How ironic, you don't believe in it, but yet you use it. All praise due to God, Lord of the Worlds.

An English translation of the Gospel - "It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Torah". (Luke 1617)

Do we, then, nullify the Torah by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the Torah. (Romans 331)

We know that the Torah is good if one uses it properly. We also know that Torah is made not for the righteous but for the ones without Torah. (1 Timothy 18,9)

But the man who looks intently into the perfect Torah that gives freedom, and continue to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it - he will be blessed in what he does. (James 125)

"Do not think that I (Yeshua) have come to abolish the Torah or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Torah until everything is accomplished". (Matthew 517,1

And again this is what i read in the Quran - 1117 For those who are on a clarity from their Lord, and are followed by a testimony from Him; and before it was the Book of Moses, a beacon and a mercy; they will believe in it. And whoever rejects it from among the Confederates, then the Fire is his meeting place. So do not be in any doubt about it. It is the truth from your Lord, but most of the people do not believe.

So why are you inviting me to the Fire while i am inviting you to Guidance and Light, a beacon and a mercy?

An English translation of the Quran - 33 He sent down to you the Book with the truth, authenticating what is between his hands; and He sent down the Torah and the Gospel.

From among them is a pious nation, but most of them only do evil.

An English translation of the Quran - 568 Say "O people of the Book, you are not upon anything until you uphold the Torah and the Gospel and what was sent down to you from your Lord." And for many of them, what was sent down to you from your Lord will only increase them in transgression and rejection. So do not feel sorry for the rejecting people.

An English translation of the Quran - 7157 "Those who follow the Gentile messenger prophet whom they find written for them in the Torah and the Gospel; he orders them to kindness, and prohibits them from vice, and he makes lawful for them the good things, and he makes unlawful for them the evil things, and he removes their burden and the shackles that are upon them. So those who believe in him, and support him, and help him persevere, and follow the light that was sent down with him; these are the successful ones."

An English translation of the Quran - 9111 God has purchased from the believers their very lives and their wealth, that they will have the Paradise; they fight in the cause of God so they kill and are killed; a promise that is true upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. And whoever fulfills this pledge with God, then have good news of the pledge which you are concluded with. Such is the great triumph.

An English translation of the Quran - 4829 Mohammed is the messenger of God, and those who are with him are severe against the rejecters, but merciful between themselves. You see them kneeling and prostrating, they seek the blessings and approval of God. Their distinction is in their faces, as a result of prostrating. Such is their example in the Torah. And their example in the Gospel is like a plant which shoots out and becomes strong and thick and it stands straight on its trunk, pleasing to the farmers. That He may enrage the rejecters with them. God promises those among them who believe and do good works a forgiveness and a great reward.

An English translation of the Quran - 355 For God said "O Jesus, I will terminate your life, and raise you to Me, and cleanse you of those who have rejected, and make those who have followed you above those who have rejected until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, all of you,so I will judge between you in what it was that you disputed."

We inspired Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the Patriarchs, and Jesus, and Job, and Jonah, and Aaron, and Solomon; and We have given David the Psalms.

An English translation of the Quran - 384 Say "We believe in God and what was sent down to us and what was sent down to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Patriarchs, and what was given to Moses and Jesus and the prophets from their Lord. We do not make a distinction between any of them, and to Him we submit."

An English translation of the Quran - 2285 The messenger believes in what was sent down to him from his Lord; and the believers, all who believe in God, and His angels, and His Books, and His messengers "We do not make a distinction between any of His messengers;" and they said "We hear and obey, forgive us our Lord, and to you is our destiny."

An English translation of the Quran - 2946 And do not argue with the people of the Book except in that which is better; except for those who are wicked among them; and say "We believe in what was revealed to us and in what was revealed to you, and our god and your god is the same; to Him we submit."

                                        And what is the point?

My point was that the Gospels are incompatible with the doctrine taught by the sectarian interpretation of Quran. The concept Jesus teaches according to them does not get along with it.

You do a very good job in ignoring the Quran and the Gospel.

Now it's my turn to do a good job in ignoring you.
