Our missed friend Pazuzu wrote something about that. Here is the thread

      https//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9605163.msg323451#msg323451

I think Pazuzu explanation which amounts to what Kashif says, is much shorter, much clearer, and quite efficient and gives more intresting data. It is not something new either. It is rather a common understanding, although it coexists with the "The God" conception.

Proably it does not change that much, because at any rate the idea of God in each person is what it is no matter what the etimological factors may be.

      Salaam

            Look for his posts.

He dis a great job in bringing to the fore questions like some Qur'an identities, like pharao or locations. He wrote several books for free with thorough studies on Sulayman and the Queen of Saba, Yusuf and Musa an the country they lived in.

Unfortunately when the flat earth and he met, he defended flat earth and I am afraid, by doing that he felt he lost the respect he had won with other very important questions and excelent work.

Of course, as it is abundantly clear from the way we miss him and. He did not loose any respect at all. We all are likely to make blunders, and nobody is obliged to be right in absolutely everything, neither him nor anybody else. I do hope he is on something else important withthis unique knowledge and talent.

            Salaam

Problem is, Alif-Lam-Heh is not a root. The word is a combination of AL + Heh and the famous article AL is from a root called Alif-Lam-Lam which is also used to construct which is the full root of AL plus the Heh letter. It has a double functionality like saying "the (of) the who/he/she", speaking of one's "Being". Sadly the word has entered the realm of a fabricated religion unfortunately and become the part of such doctrine.

                Being? Like some sort energy?

Perhaps the integrity of a being could be referred to as energy, but it is more like a phenomenon to us since energy is usually measurable in some way. But the best way of measuring one's being is to observe a person's doings. The topic can be relatively complex to discuss. The easiest way of describing it is talking about the mental awareness/consciousness of a person, the independently strong mind. My concept of this involves that man has two main components of themselves, the mind and the body, and the body is something distinct from the mind, but attached like a parasite to the mind for as long as we are alive on this Earth. Our mind is not equal to the body and your mind is the real you, but the body is like an animal being attached to your mind, which gives you influenced/biased thoughts and this is the phenomenon often called Satan in religion. Satan = what makes us animals, Satan is of the bodily. Your very body is Satan, you could say, but you should not treat it any different from an animal, just be its master. Either Satan rules over you or you rule over Satan/the body.

Our missed friend Pazuzu wrote something about that. Here is the thread

                      https//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9605163.msg323451#msg323451

It doesn't sound like he is agreeing with it. He says that God is dog backwards. and i checked the root word of dog and it said this

Old English docga, a late, rare word used of a powerful breed of canine. It forced out Old English hund (the general Germanic and Indo-European word; see canine ) by 16c. and subsequently was picked up in many continental languages (e.g. French dogue (16c.), Danish dogge), but the origin remains one of the great mysteries of English etymology.

He also says that it is a mockery of The Quran translating Allah to the english word God which i don't know if he is right or wrong. I found a quote from a brother named Nadeem

                      Peace Jankren,

My knowledge of arabic is poor, so I'm probably not the guy you're looking for, but still even with a little knowledge I think that this question can be answered. I think the answer lies in the preposition li-, which means to or for. In "Koranic and Classical Arabic" by Wheeler Thackston, pg. 11-12, the grammatical rules of li- are detailed. They say that when a word begins with Alif, the alif is retained orthographically but not pronounced. Thus, Imrat, which means women and is written like

                      Becomes with li- attached

                      (Li-mrat)

However, if a word begins with the definite article, which is Al- "the" (Alif and Laam), then the Alif is removed completely and the laam from the preposition li- is added to the remaining laam from the definite article. Al-bint, which means "the girl"

                      Becomes with li- attached

                      (Li-lbint)

You can see that the letter is missing in Li-lbint. So if a word intrinsically has Alif at the beginning, then that alif is retained in writing but not pronounced. But when a word does not begin with alif, such as bint, but has the definite article (which does have alif at the beginning), then that alif is removed completely.

Now look at what happens when we attach li- to allah.

                      Allah

                      Becomes

The alif is gone! Doesn't that suggest that there is a definite article in the front of "Allah"? That it is indeed "Al-Ilah", which means "The God", and that it is word not a name?

I even have theory as to why the i in ilah is gone when it becomes Al-lah. Again, look the word imrat - woman. When the Al- is added, it is not pronounced al-imraat, but Al-mraat! You see, here to the i is gone not only in pronunciation but in writing too! The same must be the case with ilah.

But as I said, I only know a little arabic, and a little arabic can be dangerous...

I hope someone more knowledgeable can correct or confirm this post.

                      Nadeem

As far as I can remember, which is not much, becus I wrote that some time go, the question seemed to be from which root comes the word Allah, Pazuzu, said from lam-ha, and he gave some explanation of it, and I said that I was in agreement with Pazuzu assessment, although I do not think, when it comes to meaning or translation tht does not matter too much, because each person has his or he rown concept of God which depends no on the language, but on what one is capable of conceiving, and the name it is given for people with the same conception may be near, but even with the same word for peole of another conception will be disimilar. For someody whose highest concept of God is a man with beard and very angry, even though using the same word, will not be the same tht for someone whose concept of God beyond imgination and as the source of al being, unencompassable and master and ruler of existence and all that exists.

                            Salaam

                              Salaam

To me God is what Quran is describing Him who is Just and Fair, who did not create evil, rewards the rightoues people for their service to The Almighty Divine Creator. Kind and Gracious and Merciful and punishes the wicked cruel evil people. Forgive me if my explaination is not well made. I remember seeing verses in the Quran describing Allah (SWTAY) few of his many magnificent attributes but i forgot the verses. I don't think it's really horrifying just calling Allah (SWTAY) God in English. I wonder what word God actually means? Without of course involving religous concepts.

Yes that is natural. That is why I say that I what I saw important in that post, and I do think it is, is the root of the word Allah. That is important in a certain way and at a certain level, but it is not indispensable to maintain the conept of God that we ourselves are able to attain at. Even with the Qur'a in the hand different peole get different levels of undetanding or communing. So we should not transpose to the words themselves the meaning that we give tham. Words are instruments not subjects. That is what think I and others have tried to expplain in this thread, and even our friend Pazuzu has shown that it is soin spite that it mitght understood as contrdicting another of his posts.

By the way, very good catch yougot there.

Sardar, man, you are squeezing me too much.

God for me is the same as Allah, the same as Dios, the same as Got, etc. etc. What can a I say, words would always be short. But as I say God as a word fits whatever we have in mind as The cause of everything except itself and the object of everything excet itself, etc.etc.etc.

Bold Apologies for that, i had to be sure.

Brother/Sister of Mankind Aries did gave us a proto-indoeuropean root word of God

                                          ?dh
                                          Inner Light and Meditation

Once the Indo-Europeans had used the consonant d, symbol of light, to denote the divine (divya) and god (deva), they then used the d to mean ?to bear light ? within the human soul and they consequently formed the root dh ?to think in contemplation? or ?contemplative thinking?.

From dh came the word dhti ?devotion?, ?prayer? or ?meditation?, which, in Latin, corresponds to the word fides ?faith? ?

(Please, note that the development of indoeuropean dh > latin f is very common.
