Okay you wanted to. So how does that help anyone in this discussion about the jinn?
It could have been jinns. It could have been spirits. Only Allah the all mighty knows that.
Then I doubt mentioning them is of any benefit if they are not your proofs for what jinn are or do.
You get confused easily .
At first I thought your stories or sightings were your proof for jinn. Now that you've explained that you are not speaking of jinn I understand. I do get confused easily when things are not making sense. My bewilderment is solely based on your off-topic responses.

What are spirits? I thought once a human dies, there is a barrier till they day they are raised again (2399-100)...so...what are they doing bemoaning their fate and roaming freely back here?!? Additonally, until they are raised, they do not know of what has transpired since they have been gone (5117), in that case are these jinn identity thieves as well?!?

SC! its not a trick question. Im genuinly asking you why they do that? The reason im asking is that i was told the reason for doing that is becoz it 'binds' the soul to that grave. I was a sunni then. So im asking you if this is true or is there some other reason.

I have heard a lot of weird stuff in my time, is there any quranic basis for throwing sand on the grave for metaphysical binding purposes? They also never let women enter the graveyard specially if they have their period, is there any quranic basis for that either?

So how do we say they are spirits? This would mean a crash in the night, you wake up and see your vase broken, and automatically assume gasp it must be a spirit! It could be any variety of reasons, tremors, your cat...your neighbours cat...a mouse...your neighbours mouse...or the excellent catch all phrase 'it's time had come'...btw, what possible good does it do these spirits or us for that matter, to be roaming about when their jig is up (and they can't come back anyway?!?!)

Ok. We know everyone dies. WE know everyone will be resurected. WE know there is a barrier which stops the soul from comming back. So, the question is, what is the soul doing from the time the person dies to the time of the resurection.

1621 They are dead, not alive, and they have no idea how or when they will be resurrected.
3652 They will say "Ah! Woe unto us! Who hath raised us up from our beds of repose?"... (A voice will say "This is what (Allah) Most Gracious had promised. And true was the word of the messengers!"
3055/56 And on The Day when the Hour arrives the guilty will swear that they remained (dead) but for an hour, thus they were ever deceived. But to those to whom knowledge and faith are given will say "The truth is that you have remained (dead) until the Day of Resurrection By Allah 's decree. This is the Day of Resurrection, But you used not to know.
660 It is He who doth take your souls by night, and hath knowledge of all that ye have done by day by day doth He raise you up again; that a term appointed be fulfilled; In the end unto Him will be your return; then will He show you the truth of all that ye did.
1045 On the day when He summons all of them, they will feel as if they lasted in this world one hour of the day, during which they met. Losers indeed are those who disbelieved in meeting GOD; and chose to be misguided.
4046 The Hell will be shown to them day and night, and on the Day of Resurrection "Admit Pharaoh's people into the worst retribution."
Death is akin to sleeping...with some very bad dreams (fire/hell) for the disbelievers...

Now unlike you, I believe any and all things are at the discretion of people to judge. As you have judged it not for me to invoke my judgement in these particular matters. Therefore I believe you too must hold this view to some degree.

No not at all. I'm leaving my own interpretations aside to understand what you are trying to say. As I explained, I thought you were talking about jinn, when you finally made it clear you were not talking about jinn, on a thread discussing what jinn are.
It is not within reason to assume my bewilderment was because of my view on jinn. I simply wanted to know if you were speaking about jinn and since you were not, why you were speaking about spirits. To which you responded brashly, almost childlike in reaction.
