i used to live in indonesia, and there is this very religious moslem gay guy in indonesia who did surgery to be a woman, and he/she wears headscarf and everything, in fact she's a celebrity there. once she went to do hajj, and it was the time when many people were killed in Mina, and many religious nuts in indonesia blamed her for this. that it was the punishment from god because she is supposed to be a guy, but dresses up and behaves like a woman. is it fair to treat her like that?

Let get to the point. We need to help these people who have this psycological problem and they will be cured. It is a medical condition and these people are sick! They need help. Nations have been distroyed before because of this. Because they did not do anything about this problem. Now people, rather than considering it as a problem are promoting it and fighting for the rights of Gays, homos etc. There are also people around who have sex within the family. sisters/brothers, father/daughter, son/mother.....were do you want to draw the line??

Please read this article...the social implications of evolutionary thinking. Now, I am not saying that if one holds to evolution he necessarily supports homosexuality. I am saying, however, that nearly all-homosexual leaders are evolutionists, and when pressed for justification of their homosexual life style and behavior, homosexual leaders almost always refer to evolution.
"We are descended from animals," they say; "we have certain animal desires that must be satisfied. Few animals mate for life. And many times animals of the same sex interact sexually. And didn?t all bisexual animals evolve from asexual animals?"
More sophisticated homosexuals would call the homosexual condition a "beneficial mutation." They are "born gay." Others point to certain animal groups, which lessen their reproduction rate when the population fills the ecological niche. "This is a way to fulfill one?s sexual needs without overpopulation; this is natural selection in action." The Bible calls such behavior "reprobate," and homosexual justifications such as are normally given must deny the Biblical mindset, which is founded in the creation of all things by a holy God, who created mankind male and female, in His image, with proper function in a marriage relationship.

Homosexuals account for 3-4% of all gonorrhea cases, 60% of all syphilis cases, and 17% of all hospital admissions (other than for STDs) in the United States (5). They make up only 1-2% of the population.
Homosexuals live unhealthy lifestyles, and have historically accounted for the bulk of syphilis, gonorrhea, Hepatitis B, the "gay bowel syndrome" (which attacks the intestinal tract), tuberculosis and cytomegalovirus (27).
73% of psychiatrists say homosexuals are less happy than the average person, and of those psychiatrists, 70% say that the unhappiness is NOT due to social stigmatization (13).
25-33% of homosexuals and lesbians are alcoholics (11).
Of homosexuals questioned in one study reports that 43% admit to 500 or more partners in a lifetime, 28% admit to 1000 or more in a lifetime, and of these people, 79% say that half of those partners are total strangers, and 70% of those sexual contacts are one night stands (or, as one homosexual admits in the film "The Castro", one minute stands) (3). Also, it is a favorite past-time of many homosexuals to go to "cruisy areas" and have anonymous sex.

Some other homosexuals aren't as overt about this, but rather try to infiltrate society and get into positions where they will have access to the malleable minds of young children (e.g., the clergy, teachers, Boy Scout leaders, etc.) (. The homosexual agenda.The homosexual agenda includes desensitizing the public "The first order of business is desensitization of the American public concerning gays and gay rights.....To desensitize the public is to help it view homosexuality with indifference instead of with keen emotion. Ideally, we would have straights register differences in sexual preferences the way they register different tastes for ice cream or sports games....At least in the beginning, we are seeking public desensitization and nothing more. We do not need and cannot expect a full 'appreciation' or 'understanding' of homosexuality from the average American. You can forget about trying to persuade the masses that homosexuality is a good thing. But if only you can get them to think that it is just another thing...then your battle for legal and social rights is virtually won" (25).
Part of the homosexual agenda is to get the public to affirm their filthy lifestyle, as one homosexual admitted in the October 1987 homosexual rally on Washington "We are no longer seeking just a right to privacy and a protection from wrong. We also have a right -- as heterosexual Americans already have -- to see government and society affirm our lives" (27).
Part of the homosexual agenda is to turn people from Christianity "The teaching that only male-female sexual activity within the bounds and constraints of marriage is the only acceptable form should be reason enough for any homosexual to denounce the Christian religion" (1).
Homosexuals knowingly lied (and still lie) about the 10% figure (i.e., homosexuals make up 10% of the population). As Tom Stoddard (formerly of the Lambda Legal Defense Fund) said, "We used that figure when most gay people were entirely hidden to try to create an impression of our numerousness" (17).
The true number of homosexuals.The Kinsey study of 1948, which homosexuals often cite to say that 10% of the population is homosexual, actually says that only 4% of the population is EXCLUSIVELY homosexual. This study involved a disproportionate number of people who had been in jail for sex crimes (hardly a random sample of the population). Current research shows that the true percentage of homosexuals is in the 1-2% range (15,23,26,2. Consider how small this number is when compared to most of the numbers above.
Homosexuals aren't discriminated against in employment, so why should they be a protected class?The average yearly income of a homosexual is $55,430.00 (most of which is disposable because no children to take care of!). The average of the general population is $32,144.00. The average of blacks is $12,166.00 (24).
59.6% of homosexuals are college graduates. 18.0% of the general population are college graduates (24). Too bad they aren't smart enough to listen to God. "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools" (Romans 122).
49.0% of homosexuals hold professional/managerial positions. 15.9% of the general population hold such positions (24). Where's the job discrimination?
Sexual OrientationA phrase that has come up recently in this earth is "sexual orientation." This is a phrase made up by homosexuals to try to make themselves look less filthy than they really are. The purpose of the phrase is to take the spotlight from what these perverts do, and put it on the notion that they are just poor, mistreated people, who simply are attracted to members of the same sex - as if they aren't engaging in activity forbidden by God Almighty. "Sexual orientation," as used today, has nothing to do with sexual activity (yeah, right), but only refers to who or what a particular person is attracted to. If you think that people of other "sexual orientations" are just fine, let's see what other "sexual orientations" you would necessarily have to accept as wholesome and pure. If you're not going to discriminate based on "sexual orientation", then you must not discriminate against any of the following. If you discriminate against any of these, you're a hypocrite. These "sexual orientations" are generally known as "paraphilias", and are mental disorders - just like homosexuality used to be (29).

I should say ur topic seems to have generated quite a lot of interest here that it has had more than 60 posts in about 18 hrs. Is that a record of some kind? wink
Anyways, getting back to the topic. I think, Homosexuality(the natural inclination for) and the reasons behind it have not yet reached any kind of conclusions yet and studies are ongoing. Here is an interesting chapter from a textbook of neuroscience.
Central Nervous System Dimorphisms Related to Reproductive Behaviors
As these examples show, the actions of sex steroids on neurons provide powerful mechanisms for the production of behavioral differences between females and males. In experimental animals at least, the consequences in the central nervous system are evident in sexually dimorphic circuits and behaviors ranging from the control of motor responses to aspects of cognition. This section briefly reviews examples that are specifically related to reproductive behavior; the following section considers sexual dimorphisms related to cognitive behavior.
A good example of sexual dimorphism related to motor control of a reproductive behavior is the difference in size of a nucleus in the lumbar segment of the rat spinal cord called the spinal nucleus of the bulbocavernosus. The motor neurons of this nucleus innervate two striated muscles of the perineum, the bulbocavernosus and ischiocavernosus (Figure 30.4A). In males, the bulbocavernosus and the ischiocavernosus attach to the penis and play a role in both urination and copulation. In females, the bulbocavernosus and the ischiocavernosus are much smaller and attach to the base of the clitoris; they are used to constrict the opening of the vagina. Marc Breedlove and his colleagues first showed that the spinal nucleus containing the motor neurons that innervate the bulbocavernosus is much smaller in female rats compared to males (Figure 30.4B,Figure 30.4C). They next demonstrated that the development of this dimorphism in the spinal cord depends on the maintenance of target muscles by circulating androgens. Since developing males have high levels of circulating sex steroids whereas females do not, these muscles largely degenerate in developing female rats, leaving the motor neurons to atrophy in the absence of trophic support (see Chapter 23).
In humans, the spinal cord structure that corresponds to the spinal nucleus of the bulbocavernosus in rats is called Onuf's nucleus, which consists of two cell groups in the sacral cord (a dorsal-medial and a ventral-lateral group). Although the dorsal-medial group is not sexually dimorphic, human females have fewer neurons in the ventral-lateral group than males (Figure 30.4D). In contrast to rodents, the female perineal muscles in humans remain relatively large throughout life, but are nonetheless smaller than in the male. The difference in nuclear size in humans, like rats, presumably reflects the difference in the number of muscle fibers the motor neurons must innervate.
A variety of reproductive behaviors in both non-human primates and humans are governed by the hypothalamus, including mating, priming, and parenting behaviors (Figure 30.5). In rhesus monkeys, electrophysiological recordings from hypothalamic neurons during sexual activity show that neurons of the medial preoptic area of the anterior hypothalamus fire during different components of the sexual act. Such recordings have been carried out on male monkeys sitting in a flexible restraining chair that allows the male to gain access to a receptive female by pressing a bar, which brings the female close enough to allow mounting by the male. In this way, the responses of hypothalamic neurons can be correlated with ?desire? (number of bar presses) and mating behavior (contact, mounting, intromission, thrusting). Neurons in the medial preoptic area of the male hypothalamus fire rapidly before sexual behavior but decrease their activity upon contact with the female and mating (Figure 30.6). In contrast, neurons in the dorsal anterior hypothalamus begin firing at the onset of mating and continue to fire vigorously during intercourse. Although these studies do not speak to sexual dimorphism, they provide direct evidence that the anterior hypothalamus helps to regulate aspects of sexual behavior.
These and other studies of rodents and non-human primates have stimulated a variety of observations in the human hypthalamus. The most thoroughly documented examples of sexually dimorphic hypothalamic nuclei in humans have been described by Laura Allen and Roger Gorski at the University of California at Los Angeles and supported by Dick Swaab and his colleagues at the Netherlands Institute for Brain Research. There are four cell groupings within the anterior hypothalamus of humans, collectively called the interstitial nuclei of the anterior hypothalamus (INAH; the nuclei are numbered 1?4 from dorsolateral to ventromedial) (Figure 30.7). The original studies by Allen and Gorski reported that nuclei 1?3 of the INAH can be more than twice as large in males as they are in females. These studies were extended by William Byne who reported, along with Swaab and colleagues, that only INAH-3 is consistantly sexually dimorphic in adults. INAH-1 and INAH-2 change in size over time, which may account for differences between the findings of various investigators. INAH-1 is the same size in females and males up until 2?4 years of age; it then becomes larger in males until approximately 50 years of age, when it decreases in size in both sexes. Although generally larger in males, INAH-2 is larger in females of childbearing age than in prepubescent and postmenopausal females. Such changes in nuclear size with age suggest that in humans, as in rodents, these hypothalamic dimorphisms may be related to levels of circulating sex steroids.
One aspect of human reproduction in which these nuclei have been implicated is the choice of a sexual partner. In addition to heterosexual behavior, some people express sexual interest in both females and males (bisexuality), and some only in members of their own phenotypic sex (homosexuality). Still other people are interested the opposite sex but have a gender identity that is at odds with their phenotypic sex (transgenderism). Based on experimental work in animals and evidence that relatively simple sexual behaviors are influenced by brain dimorphisms, explaining these more complex behaviors in the same general way has been an attractive possibility. To investigate this issue, Simon LeVay, then working at the Salk Institute, compared the INAH nuclei of heterosexual males and homosexual males. LeVay first confirmed Allen and Gorski's findings that the INAH nuclei are sexually dimorphic. He went on to discover that INAH-3 is more than twice as large in male heterosexuals as in male homosexuals (Figure 30.8A). LeVay suggested that this difference is related to sexual orientation.
Other researchers have also concluded that dimorphisms of the hypothalamic nuclei are related to sexual orientation and gender identity. Swaab and Michel Hofman examined the suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus, which lies just above the optic chiasm in both rodents and humans and generates circadian rhythms (see Figure 30.5A and Chapter 2. This nucleus is also involved in reproductive behavior. In examining the suprachiasmatic nuclei of females, heterosexual males, and homosexual males, Swaab and Hofman found the volume of the suprachiasmatic nucleus to be almost twice as large in male homosexuals compared to male heterosexuals (Figure 30.8B). There was no difference, however, between the size of the suprachiasmatic nucleus in females and heterosexual males. Like LeVay, they suggested that the difference in nuclear size between homosexual and heterosexual men might be related to sexual orientation. This same group has also reported a dimorphism that may be related to gender identity. In comparing male-to-female transgendered individuals to heterosexual males, they found that another hypothalamic structure, the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis, is smaller in transgendered males, being closer in size to that of females.
Taken together, this evidence suggests a plausible explanation of the continuum of human sexuality Small differences in the relevant brain structures generate significant differences in sexual identity and behavior. In analogy to the rodent, these brain dimorphisms are probably established by the early influence of hormones acting on the brain nuclei that mediate various aspects of sexuality. For instance, low levels of circulating androgens in a male early in life could lead to a relatively ?feminine? brain in genotypic males, whereas high levels of circulating androgens in females could lead to a relatively ?masculine? brain in genotypic females.
As attractive as this hypothesis may be (and it should be emphasized that it remains unproven), the development of sexuality in humans is probably a good deal more complicated than this scenario implies. Although LeVay's findings support the idea that homosexuality is related to ?feminization? of the male brain (recall that INAH-3 in gay males is smaller than in straight males), Swaab and Hofman's data on the size of the suprachiasmatic nucleus undermine the interpretation that the male homosexual's brain is simply ?feminized? by a lack of androgens early in development. Whereas they found a difference in the volume of the suprachiasmatic nucleus between homosexual and heterosexual males, in contrast to LeVay they found no difference in the volume of the nucleus between females and heterosexual males. In addition, the development of the INAH-1 dimorphism occurs between 2 and 4 years of age?long after the first testosterone surge in human males. These discrepancies suggest that the development of sexually dimorphic nuclei in humans does not depend solely on early hormone levels. Even adult neural circuits have some plasticity (see next section and Chapter 25), leaving open the possibility that behavior, experience, and changes in circulating hormone levels generate dimorphisms at later stages. In accord with this suggestion, Breedlove and colleagues have reported that the posterodorsal nucleus of the medial amygdala has a greater volume in male rats than in female, but that castration of adult males and androgen treatment of adult females reverses this effect. Thus, the question of whether we are simply born ?that way? with respect to sexuality remains difficult to answer with any great confidence. Like most developmental events, a combination of intrinsic and extrinsic factors are probably involved.
Despite these uncertainties, work over the last decade has placed human sexuality on a much firmer biological footing. This is a welcome advance over the not-too-distant past when unusual sexual behavior was commonly explained in social, Freudian, or, worse yet, moralistic terms

I think there is a problem when scientist start thinking that behavior is all biological, it is not necessarly true. Although there there is a biological influence on behaviour but one does not need to be in such an enviroment to get those activated. The problems with homos is they are at the wrong enviroment plus this environment is developing around us as well, thats why more and more people are driven to having samesex orientations. Its another Satan's plan to distroy us and put us all into doing wrong.

How can it be tested if xenophobia is a genetic trait? one would have to be isolated at beirth. Nurture VS nature. Afraid of a threat or threatened by an unknown of course, that is natural and it also aids our survival. other than that, there is no way to prove it.
and if someone IS born NATURALLY homosexual, should they fix it? (if they can) lives as they were made? or live the lie and fake it? Why should they be condemed to mental and emotional mysery because god made them that way. what possible offence is there before birth to allow for that, unless you believe in reincarnation?
Haven't you completely contradicted yourself here? If xenophobia is untestable, then so is homosexuality. Nurture is nature there too, so further genetic testing is moot.
My opinion is that homosexuality is morally worng. The closest parallel in society that I can find to homosexuality is incest. Some incest occurs between mutually agreeable parties, so as in homosexual relationships, both parties agree to the arrangement. I am obviously discounting cases of rape, etc. So, as a society, we have decided that incest is plain wrong, regardless of the outcome. Even if the incestual couple never produce a disfigured child...maybe they never have vaginal sex and stick to oral sex, we would all still agree that it's morally wrong and simply an unpleasant thought. So, why has society still relegated incest to this category while allowing homosexuality to roam free? They have the same attributes of consent, yet the actual act is naturally disagreeable to the vast majority of people.
I personally think that homosexuality is a psychological problem that stems from very early childhood. it begins when children begin to learn what roles each sex plays in the world, and perhaps they become confused. Whenever I hear homosexuals explain how they knew they were gay, they usually say something like "I really liked decorating," or "I wanted to wear makeup." When you think about it, how are either of these related to wanting to have gay sex? Is it a logical conclusion that if a man likes to decorate, he must also enjoy gay anal sex? You'll find that there is no relation whatsoever, but society has decided that there must be connection, thus further confusing the gender lines.
Anyway, in an effort to be brief, I will say that society should no more tolerate homosexuality than it tolerates incest. It naturally feels wrong, that is why there is such a big push to normalize it so it does not feel wrong. So if a person is gay, they should realize what they are are not act on it. There is always self pleasuring, and sex is not a necessary part of life, regardless of what society claims. Society should also make greater attempts to allow children the freedom to act in whichever gender role they feel like, as I think that this allows them the freedom to remain part of their own gender while identifying with traits of what is traditionally another gender. Basically do not tell your little boys not to cry b/c it's what girls do.

I think there is a problem when scientist start thinking that behavior is all biological, it is not necessarly true. Although there there is a biological influence on behaviour but one does not need to be in such an enviroment to get those activated. The problems with homos is they are at the wrong enviroment plus this environment is developing around us as well, thats why more and more people are driven to having samesex orientations. Its another Satan's plan to distroy us and put us all into doing wrong.

JK- If it is dangerous to his body that he chooses in the opposite sex direction of the one biologically preferred then the the other should be preferred. Otherwise he/she may choose. I dont see any problem here since ultimately GOD is controlling the mind of each individual anyways.

Many nations doing these acts were distroyed. One either follow the Quran or not. Its clear that it is Satanic plot to distroy us. It is wrong as according to the Quran. Unless the Quran does not say anything about it.

it seems that we look up to the bible it states very clearly that god condemns homosexuality, so does the quran, even if it's not as obvious as the bible.
but the least that i can hope from this community is not to stigmatize gay people. even if the scriptures say it's wrong, but we live in a society that gives everyone the rights to live their lives, and we are expected to have tolerance for everyone. just like when we have to live with people with different religions, even if our scriptures comdemns them of worshipping different god from ours, but it doesn't mean that we have the rights to not let them live their lives peacefully.
maybe we don't agree with homosexuality and use our scriptures to justify it, as much as we don't agree with atheism and other religions, but discriminating them by not granting them a legal to get married is quite intolerant. we don't agree with people who have different religions from us, but it doesn't mean that we can deny all or part of their legal rights, does it?
maybe all those homosexuals and people who believe different gods will go to hell, but who are we to judge them? and yes, the scriptures say this and that about them, but i don't agree if we use our scriptures to condemn particular group of people that we don't like. let them live their lives, we live in a society with variety of people, we can't expect every one of them to follow every rules in our religion.
as far as all the datas on the sexual misconducts of homosexual people are concerned, i don't think it's the right tool to judge them. the crime statistics of black and latino people are in general much higher than those of white people. but does it make that those black people do the crimes because they are black? sometimes people forgot that black people has been trapped in the system that has been discriminating them for so long since the slavery time, and i think this systematic crimes kind of happened to homosexual community too. that they have been being prejudiced and many of them are confused about themselves, thus the high level of suicide and drug abuse.
i don't think we will ever come to any agreement on this matter, we can only come to the state of tolerance, just like our tolerance to let other people have whatever religions they believe in. -
i only joined this forum yesterday, and since i moved to the US, i've been questioning certain issues that never came in my mind before.
i was just curious if this god alone movement would have better perspective on gay people, but i guess it's just like christianity, judaism, and traditional islam.
another thing that i don't agree is that when it was mentioned that homosexual people are mostly talented in certain areas because it's satan plot. it's just very absurd to me to hear this kind of thing. if heterosexual people are gifted and talented then it's from god, and if it happens to homosexual people then it's from satan?
this sounds very much like anti-semitism, when muslim and christian nuts would say that many jewis people are talented and powerful because it's part of satan plot.
i believe that god is the most merciful, and he gives anyone a talent if he wills, doesn't matter if he's muslim or not, heterosexual or not. -

JK- There maybe various reasons for this. Many people are born with deformities, allergies, chronical diseases, etc. Many people are born into corrupt societies causing them to become corrupt and murderers as well. Why would GOD condemn them? I believe in original sin not the christian way but that each indivdual once of us has sinned otherwise it makes no sense why we should be here and not with GOD like the angels. Anyways GOD says in the Quran that He never burdens a soul beyond that which it can bear so everyone can control it. And if someone is born with hs feelings, then out of fear of GOD controls them he may receive a multitude of the normal reward for abstaining for such behaviour. So GOD has His ways and Hes never unjust. He knows while you do not. GOD Bless!

If you think its OK, keep it that way, but saying that homosexuals are alright, as a scientist i do not agree with that. We need to help these people. I know in Judaism, christianity and Islam oppose it, well its God command. The creator is right after all.

I do agree with you, something that is wrong is never allowed and it is natural law for it to be this way. Even if no religion opposes it, it is still wrong. I also do not see why those who claim to believe in the quran can defend homosexuality when it clearly says that it is wrong. The quran is not talking about violence, it is talking about men sleeping together as they would with women...and it is wrong. This discussion does not need to be so polarized. Even if we can all agree that homosexuality is natural, well it is still wrong as incest is wrong.
