In the following verse we see Allah condemning the Ribba ?interests? then putting the Sadaqat as the opposite of it

275- Those who devour usury will not stand except as stand one whom the Evil one by his touch Hath driven to madness. That is because they say "Trade is like usury," but Allah hath permitted trade and forbidden usury. Those who after receiving direction from their Lord, desist, shall be pardoned for the past; their case is for Allah (to judge); but those who repeat (The offence) are companions of the Fire They will abide therein (for ever).

276- Allah will deprive usury of all blessing, but will give increase for deeds of charity For He loveth not creatures ungrateful and wicked.

    (275)
    (276)

-> Clear from the above that Sadaqa is the opposite of giving money with interest

And finally we read the word Sadaqa in the following verse

And complete the Hajj or 'umra in the service of Allah. But if ye are prevented (From completing it), send an offering for sacrifice, such as ye may find, and do not shave your heads until the offering reaches the place of sacrifice. And if any of you is ill, or has an ailment in his scalp, (Necessitating shaving), (He should) in compensation either fast, or feed the poor, or offer sacrifice; and when ye are in peaceful conditions (again), if any one wishes to continue the 'umra on to the hajj, He must make an offering, such as he can afford, but if he cannot afford it, He should fast three days during the hajj and seven days on his return, Making ten days in all. This is for those whose household is not in (the precincts of) the Sacred Mosque. And fear Allah, and know that Allah Is strict in punishment.

    (196)

-> The verse above tell us an exception for some practises if we are sick or suffer from any harm during Hajj and Umrah, then we can compensate by giving Sadaqa to the poor and needy.

    Salam

      Salam Ik, AhmadBahgat, all,

I always understood "sadaqa" as an action to purify/clean our self (nafs). It can be in different forms and Quran gives us some examples, see verses 9103 and 5812 for instance. It has a sense of remitting some of our bad actions and thus the ttahara (cleaning) and zakat (purification) associated to it in Quran. It is worth noting in Quran that sadaqa is defined by the one who initiates it and not the one who is impacted by it. And God the All-Mighty knows best.

      Peace, Myr.

      Peace sister

The outcome of the Sadaqa is what you said above, the Sadaqa itself is giving Alms, i.e. giving money to the poor, 9103 clearly says the action of the Sadaqa then the outcome of that action

Take alms of their wealth, wherewith thou mayst purify them and mayst make them grow, and pray for them. Lo! thy prayer is an assuagement for them. Allah is Hearer, Knower.

      (103)

-> 9103 clearly says ?Take alms of their wealth, i.e. Sadaqa is from our perspective is to give Alms, the outcome of Sadaqa is ? thou mayst purify them and mayst make them grow?, please don?t mix the action and its outcome, in my previous comment I showed clearly that we should not commit evil deeds after we give Alms otherwise it will not be accepted, and that is how the outcome will be gained by controlling the self not to cause harm or do any bad deeds after giving Alms so Allah accept these Alms as genuine good deed ?Sadaqa?, then we will be entitled for forgiveness in the JD ?only if we believe?

For 5812, it actually related to some history in the life of the prophet where many (including the Jews and the Christians) used to ask him zillions of questions and the prophet felt shy to let them down and not answering them, this caused a lot of hardship on him and disturbance to his main mission of the establishment of the religion, many of the questions were silly and some were a setup to create discord, so Allah revealed this verse saying to those who lived with the prophet that if you want to ask him a question then it is better that you pay Sadaqa as well, then those Sadaqat will be given to the poor and needy as managed by whoever was in charge to distribute the Sadaqat, this verse in effect will expose the hypocrites because they now should pay Sadaqa before they ask the prophet a question, however if the verse still allowed them to consult the prophet if they can't donate a Sadaqa for the consultation

O ye who believe! When ye consult the Messenger in private, spend something in charity before your private consultation. That will be best for you, and most conducive to purity (of conduct). But if ye find not (the wherewithal), Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

      (12)

-> It is in effect a test to the believers at the time as well an advice because the verse said? That will be best for you and most conducive to purity (of conduct)?, but if they can?t afford it then no problem they still can consult him? But if ye find not (the wherewithal), Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.?, please donlt mix the conduct with the action of Sadaqa itself, the proper conduct should be the automatic conduct for those who give Alms otherwise they will be nothing but hypocrites as well the Alms will not be accepted by Allah if the follow the Alms with bad conduct as I explained earlier

      Peace

Please EXPLAIN why zakat is compulsory and sadaqa is not? How do you understand what zakat and sadaqa is with respect to Quranic contexts. No need to WINK? Have you read and understood what some of the people herer believe in what zakat and sadaqa means? How do you know that you are right and others wrong???

but what puzzles me is this, why a Quran rejector like you who is labelled Kafir by the Quran rant that much about it?, didn't you conclude to yourself what the Quran is?, now you should bugger off and leave the ones who believe in the Quran discuss it in peace

                Salam dunk

Its clear enough to reject the Quran being Allah's Words with disgraceful remarks coming from you all over the forum without substantiating any effort to credibly support it. You are its true enemy hiding behind its pages, judging by its cover.

                      peace

calm down ahmed, its best just to ignore and move on.

The worshipers of the Most Gracious are those who tread the earth gently, and when the ignorant speak to them, they only utter peace.

i thought zakat wasn't compulsory either. I thought it was compulsory on those who could afford it.

It makes sense that anything compulsory is for those who can do/afford it

muhammad as a symbol? thats a good one. How do you mean exactly? Do you mean to say he believes that there' was no muhammad in the quran and he's symbolic? from my point of view that's border-line insane
