Man, you cannot understand something from the Koran when the origin is not Koranic. B'ney 'isra?l (or ban? 'sra'?l) is the nation - also known as the jews, the very same thing - that is said to have been established by Jacob after the name he was given by G-d in Genesis 3229

And he said 'Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel; for thou hast striven with God and with men, and hast prevailed.'

What you're telling is that you reject the term's history whilst trying to understand it.

Hadiths are not gonna help you on this one. However, since the T?r? is the origin, it is most likely the best place to search for an answer.

      kind regards,
      S

the book of Allah explains itself . besides that ,the bible is full of lies about the prophets .

        exactly.

some ppl think that "Quran alone" means rejecting the Hadith books only, while accepting the bible and letting the bible explain and interpret parts of the Quran .

i m trying to understand it from the Quran alone .

        peace.

          Saladin,
I'm sorry, but this is about one of the most central terms there are in judaism. Trying to understand the history by means of something but the history itself is useless.

So what book is the one of G-d? And how can you know for sure?
The T?r? (not the whole bible) contains numerous changes from the original as the two words for "lamb" being keseb and kebes - obviously a typo!

The same thing goes for the Koran aswell. Not you nor myself did actually supervise the process of compiling it from its original and stuff. Agree? It will only explain itself in a most pragmatic sense as in what it contains is its content and that can this far speak for its own content. However, it all has a background. Some things about certain prophets in the Koran are extremly suspicious. Some stories have specific backgrounds (as the one of Abraham smashing the idols, taken from the "story version" - b're'sh?th rab?" - of Genesis), and some just evolved whilst people were telling them. It does not imply that its more accurate because its at least 1600 younger. Nor does it imply there's more of a chance that it is a book of G-d.

If it wouldnt be for the language inherited, no one would understand that lis?n is the same as lash?n or lash?n?, agree? So does culture, religious culture included, pass on to new forms of these languages and cultures.

Let me know what you have understood from ban? 'sra?l based on the Koran using no other help, ok? And moreover, let me know how much you can read from "...trying to understand it from the Quran alone", meaning also its language. How did you reach the conclusion that b?b means "gate" or "door "...from the Quran alone"? Let me know how this explains itself and once you do that, I will forever and ever follow Koran alone!

          kind regards,
          /S

Koran . and this is not "quranic divinity" section . i m not discussing "proof of quran's divinty" .

Nor was I talking about the claimed divinity of the Koran, it was you that just brought it up. You said "the book of G-d/Allah" and I just repeated your statement. Aren't you happy with it now all of a sudden?

Then as you say that the Bible (I kind of stick with the Hebrew side of it but that's kind of irrelevant) is full of lies, says who? According to and with reference to what? And isn't that reference also in proportion to other sources? So how can one person distinguish that "this is 'the book of Allah'"?

Its impossible to understand something that is not "virgin borned" from the Koran by means of Koran.

The Koran does not claim to explain "ban? 'sra?l" within itself so I think it's safe for you to call off the search by now.

I like mquran's explanation. If it is correct "arabically" then I think that's the correct one.

and Saladin, the quran isn't the only peace of knowledge we have. there are many things in the quran we wouldn't understand if our mindset wasn't correct and if we didn't have enough knowledge. There is nothing wrong with using outside sources to understand the quran as long as the information is verified and the interpretation makes sense and goes along with the rest of the quran.

                    peace .

To verify whether the outside information about a particular topic goes along with the rest of the Koran or not, we first need to know what the Koran says about that topic .

I could see why you changed the header. Here's just one piece of advice on your quest for knowledge of whatever kind.

It is sometimes important to understand why one asks a specific question, as...
Do I want to understand what's Britain's best party? or Do I want to know what's Britain's best party according to Tony Blair?
It's important to know that some sources provide answers that are correct whilst some does not, and understanding the difference when limiting one self to a discourse that may not contain the necessary answers.

Good luck with your children of Israel research!

                          Peace,

The Quran says that children are to take the name of their fathers. So the Children of Israel are that if their fathers are considered children of Israel.
Secondly, the Quran tells them to follow the Torah, if I am not mistake, as well as those who call themselves Jews, being descendents of the tribe of Judah and also a branch of the children of Israel. The Torah is actually not the whole bible it is the teachings of Moses to be found in the actual words of Moses where the bible says 'Moses said or Moses spoke' that is the real Torah. I've highlighted all these instances in the Bible and I plan on publishing them on my page www.houseofabraham.net. As well the Gospel is really the teachings of Jesus and to be found in Jesus actual words you can find them at http//www.thewords.com/english/index.htm this is the Gospel.

The Quran tells them to follow the Quran and to follow Moses' teachings. It also says that God gave each community certain rites. There rites are very few as it concerns what Moses has to say and they should accept the Gospel of Jesus God bless him and the Quran to complete their faith and make it right. However, the law of Moses is for Isreal, it is says 'Hear O Israel.' As long as someone can claim that their father was a descendent of the tribe of Israel then they are a child of Israel and are to uphold the laws in the teachings of Moses and Jesus and Muhammad. If a Israelite woman marries a non-Israelite man then he child is no longer a child of Israel, according to the Quran because he takes his fathers name.

                          Godbless,
                          Anwar

                              Lovelymoslems,

If I don't follow the Quran or dont' believe that Muhammad is God's messenger can I be Muslim still?

The children of Israel weren't Muslim either?

Please don't make up your own definitions for this word. Despite what you have been taught the Quran doesn't explain the word Muslim.

Yes, because muslim is attributed to community of men who obey to Allah's law (deen). Shall men claim to be Muhammad's follower but not establish Allah's law are not moslem.

The children of Israel weren't Muslim either?
Follower of Moses to Jesus were moslems. Jesus was son of Abraham.

And if only they had acted according to the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel), and what has (now) been sent down to them from their Lord (the Quran), they would surely have gotten provision from above them and from underneath their feet. There are from among them people who are on the right course (i.e. they act on the revelation and believe in Prophet Muhammad SAW like Abdullah bin Salam , but many of them do evil deeds.

Say "Truly, my Lord has guided me to a Straight Path, a right deen, the milata of Ibrahim (Abraham), Hanifa (i.e. the true Islamic Monotheism - to believe in One God (Allah i.e. to devote none but Allah, Alone)) and he was not of Al-Mushrikoon."
                                ( , Al-Anaam, Chapter #6, Verse #161)

Say "Verily, my Salat (prayer), my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of the Alameen.
                                ( , Al-Anaam, Chapter #6, Verse #162)

"He has no partner. And of this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims." ( , Al-Anaam, Chapter #6, Verse #163)

What I said is Al Quran, only.

Unfortunately you don't have a good understanding of the words that the Quran uses or you would have translated the word Muslim. Refering to the Quran is the first step, secondly you have to understand the context of the language of the Quran and the real meanings of the words that it uses.

                                  Godbless,

Jesus, Moses, Abraham and Muhammad God bless them all, none of them were Muslims.

                                    Hey Anwar

I believe we discussed this before and I showed you many times that the noun Muslim was expressed as a verb Aslam many times in the Quran,

so I may ask you, can you please explain to me what Muslim means

also as far as I believe the Quran directly or indirectly told us that these prophets you mentioned were Muslims as an adjective

                                    Salam

Aslama to the pre-Islamic Arab didn't mean 'to become Muslim' and Muslimun to the Pre-Islamic Arab didn't mean Muslim. It meant 'submissive, early payer, quitter, etc.' and every one of the implications that the fourth Arabic form can have in relation to the first form of the word. What Muslim means to us now is not what it meant to the jahilee Arab and the Quran only means it in the way the jahilee Arab would have understood it.

As for what it means now, what it means now is not what it meant to the Pre-Islamic Arab (as I said above), and what it means to the person who calls himself Muslim now is not what he will translate it as in any other language, and it is not how he would literally interpret it. There are alot of interpretations of the word nowadays and the most poplular one is Shafee'i's interpretation which is 'submissive to God.' But this is an interpretation not a meaning and it is not how Muslims really use the word. Muslims don't call all of those Jews, Christians or "pagans" Muslims who don't follow the Quran or believe that Muhammad was his messenger. Using Shafee'i's interpretation it is even possible for a Jew or a Christian or a Pagan to deny the Quran and still be considered Muslim. Well we all know that that is absurd and no one, not even any Muslim would consider that someone who denies the Quran and Muhammad even has the right to call themselves Muslim. But if it means submissive to God, they would have that right. But we all know that what it really means today is someone who accepts the Quran as from God and Muhammad as a messenger and prophet of God. (Godblesshim). That's not what it means in Jahilee Arabic, and therefore is not what it means in the context of the Quran, but the Muslim is deluded about the meaning of the word Islam, Aslama and Muslim in so many ways.

                                      Godbless,
                                      Anwar

                                          Peace lovelymoslems,

You have to translate the word 'muslim' into Engish, but first you have to know what the word means in Pre-Islamic Arabic and then understand that it only means that in the context of the Quran. It's good you quoted the Quran but now we have address the issue of your understanding of the Arabic.

                                          Godbless,
