Punishment in hereafter for not performing salaat

And God wont show those who have disease in their hearts to you so that you can recognize them by their looks ( physical ), But you can recognize them by their speech. What comes out of their mouth is what is in their hearts.

peace t,
One of the reasons they found themselves in saqar is because they were not among "musalleen". It follows that "being musalleen" is compulsory.
I think "compulsory" is the wrong word to use, it just doesn't sound right. It is like saying being "righteous" or "charitable" is compulsory. Being "musalleen" (my rendition ones who go/turn towards in a close/positive manner) helps one avoid "saqar".
4102 mentions "when they have prostrated"; this clearly implies a physical act.
4102 mentions "when they have sjd" which has several possibilities. It's primary meaning is to acknowledge / give recognition (positively), which can take various forms.
The second group performed salat only after the first group had prostrated. If prostration is only mental obedience and means obeying God's commands only, then how did the first group obey God's commands recited to them by the leader in the short time before the second group started their salat? For example, the leader recited from al-quran to the first group "feed the poor and give charity". Does it mean that the first group immediately got up and fed the poor and gave charity before the second group started their salat in a time of war? Of course they did some kind of physical act which signified obedience to God in a symbolic manner, and then later on when they got a chance they fed the poor and gave charity thus demonstrating their mental obedience.
Your above example would hold weight if all content in al quran was instructional and required doing of a physical act, e.g. feeding the poor. However, its content is not all like that, and we dont know what was said.

Peace.
If salat means the ritual sets then, according to this logic proposed by the starting post, wouldn't this contradict with 262 ? Or would you say they do 2,4,4,3,4 everyday too?
For me, such punishment is if you violate your salat/bond to the moral laws (that is, doing evil), for example like violating the laws in 1722 - 39 and many other verses across the Quran. There are also many other specific bonds to specific peple - like delivering the message is the bond/salat of the messenger, etc - that are not to us, so make sure you see which verse is talking to whom to get a more clear understanding of salat/bond to God.
Peace.
-
I believe that one should salat to God alone and not to other people.
And the salat of the messenger is to God also.
-
Also the salat is were we go for cleansing. The salat is were we go especially if we have violated the moral laws. ect...
So how does one violat salat then? Il tell you how. People violate salat by being neglectful of it, and also by attending the salat lazy, and also by approaching the salat intoxicated, by salating for the rejecters who have died, by showing off with it, by over awing and hiding with it...
-
Peace be upon you,
"Woe to those who salaat but are heedless/unaware of thier salaat"
How can one bow down on the ground but be unaware that they are bowing down on the ground? Does that make sense to anyone?
However, the human mind/subconcious is ALWAYS being programmed and most people are unaware of this.
-
My salat, my rites, my life, and my death, are all to God, the Lord of the worlds. He has no partner, and it is to this that I was commanded, and I am the first of those who have submitted.

aw,
Rather than referencing verses and applying little thought, there is a preference for applying thought before referencing verses.
http//www.mypercept.co.uk/articles/quran_on_salat.htm
I dont know what you talkin about referencing verses and applying little thought. Could you be more specific.
-
What I mean is in many of your posts you quote verses which regurgitate views already discussed, even if they dont support your view but you do not realise if they do or not. Hence applying thought before posting of verses is recommended, and I referenced a link to help with this

im not sure if im understandin u correct but what I type are my thoughts. And if i type verses quoting from quran then that is what i am thinking about or what i want to say. From the heart.
Thanks for the link. I like it.

I only find in Quran were you salat to God only. I do not find in Quran were we must salat to others.
Do you serve other than God what cannot benifit you or harm you?

Anyways, assuming you have read the link I gave you, then I have referenced verses you may be interested in applying some thought to

Peace Wakas,
Your above example would hold weight if all content in al quran was instructional and required doing of a physical act, e.g. feeding the poor. However, its content is not all like that, and we dont know what was said.
Even if what was said was a mental command/advice, how did the second party know when the first party had acknowledged it, so that they can move in for the salat? "When they had prostrated" in 4102, implies a physical act of acknowledgment to the mental or physical advice/command given.

peace t,
Peace Wakas,

I already answered
4102 mentions "when they have sjd" which has several possibilities. It's primary meaning is to acknowledge / give recognition (positively), which can take various forms.
I will elaborate by explaining what I meant by "various forms", underlining the other possiblities
From http//www.studyquran.co.uk/PRLonline.htm
= Siin-Jiim-Dal = lowly, humble, submissive, worship, adore, prostrate, make obeisance, lower/bend oneself down towards the ground, lower the head, to salute/honour/magnify, to pay respect, to stand up, to look continuedly and tranquily.
Thus, it is impossible to say if they physically prostrated or not, as there are other possibilities. Do you agree?
-
Prime example of what I'm talking about.
What because I asked a question? It was just a question, i thought about it before i posted it.
-
Peace be upon you,
how did the second party know when the first party had acknowledged it, so that they can move in for the salat? "When they had prostrated" in 4102, implies a physical act of acknowledgment to the mental or physical advice/command given.
Prostrate means "hear and obey"...its like the teacher took a class and gave them the command to memorize some words, then split the group im two, after the first group prostrates(hears and obeys)..memorizes the words, then the next group came up and memorized the words..prostrated.
It will not seem to fit if you just rely on one occurence, but if you ook at all the verses with prostrate, you will see how this is a metaphor. Ayman has a great article somewhere on this issue that you should take a look at.

Peace everyone,
I came across the following while reading al-quran
7441 About the criminals.
7442 ?What has caused you to be in the scorching heat??
7443 They said ?We were not of those who connected (musalleen).?
7444 ?And we did not feed the poor person.?
7445 ?And we used to participate with those who spoke falsehood.?
7446 ?And we used to deny the Day of Judgment.?
7447 ?Until the certainty came to us.?This clearly shows that those who did not perform salaat might incur punishment in the life hereafter. Therefore, it follows that salat is obligatory upon muslims/momins, contrary to what a lot of people who post in this forum think and preach.
Comments please.
If you interpret the above verse (7443) as
"Those who didn't regularly bow and prostrate and perform the sahadah RITUAL five times a day". (as prescribed by Sunni's cleric)
Then why does does the corrupters, child abusers, mass murderers, enslaver, oppresors, idol worshipper etc.. is not even mentioned????
Is not performing some kind of RITUAL five times a day is MUCH WORSE than corrupters, child abusers, mass murderers, enslaver, oppresors, idol worshipper??Let me tell you how I interpret 7443..
7443 They said ?We were not of those who UPHOLD/MAINTAINS THE COMMANDMENT (musalleen).?The clerics interpret "shalat" as doing somekind of "RITUALS"..
While I interpret
SHALAT as "UPHOLDING GOD's COMMANDMENT".
Shalat as rituals can be considered as a 'rites' to ALWAYS REMEMBER GOD's Commandment. If you read the Bible (Old and New Testament) there are many verses there which shows that God loves Mercy, Justice more than merely praying or other rituals...
Exhibit 1.
Hosea 66
For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.Exhibit 2.
Mark 28-34
One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating.
Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"
"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
he second is this 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these.""Well said, teacher," the man replied. "You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him.
To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices. When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God."
Matthew 23
"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices?mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law?justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.Exhibit 3 -- On Praying
Matthew 5
"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.If you read the bible, the main theme was how the Jews always forgetful of THEIR COMMANDMENTS which is around upholding JUSTICE, LOVE AND MERCY.
Especially on the Jesus episodes (read New Testament), the main theme was on the Clerics Hypocrisy, the clerics put emphasis more on "rituals" (e.g. Synagogue praying mass, torah readings, offerings/KORBAN) rather than JUSTICE, LOVE AND MERCY, which is what actually GOD wanted.Salam / Peace

Peace be upon you Jafar,
Then why does does the corrupters, child abusers, mass murderers, enslaver, oppresors, idol worshipper etc.. is not even mentioned?

7443 They said ?We were not of those who UPHOLD/MAINTAINS THE COMMANDMENT (musalleen).?Isn't feeding the poor a "commandment"? So you still run into the same discrepency that you had to start with...why say after salaat that they did not feed the poor and not the rest of those sins?
Salaat is mentioned first because it is the means of changing your behavior(cause)...the rest are examples of behaviors that need changing..the effects.
