It is positive that u use ur mind and think, that what exactely wht God ordered us, and unfortuntely only the minority do (
i think most of us had passed through a time of confusion concerning some reliogion issues with diffrent degree. i myself was born sunni and did my best to follow the ahadith and sunna, but by time i discovered the lot of contradictions between them and the quraan , the only nonsuspicious book.
I think the problem with u is asking the wrong ppl for guidance and advice, u r asking shyouk who abondaned God book and follow the man made books which are full of faked, insane stories about islam., and which god warned us from follwing them.
when i started following the quran only, things began to make sense, and i felt my mind become clear and clean. Sure there are issue which is not fully understood, but what is wrong with that, God well guide us eventually.
1976 And God increases the guidance of those who are guided. And what remains of good is better with your Lord as a reward and a far better return.
Islam is the only religion of god, it is easy and sensible.

My advice would be why complicate things?
No need to choose islam over christianity, or christianity over islam.
I assume in both, you would be beliving in one creator, thus live one's life as if serving one's creator by serving the creation.
And as for wanting to find out the truth, the truth is everywhere. If you do a good deed, do you feel good? If yes, then you will know good is rewarded with good.

There is a huge different between Christians and Submitters (Moslem); Christians believe in the Bible and the Torah, and reject the Quran. Now, would you take responsibility in saying it is Ok to reject the Quran?

certainly not all who call themselves christians do not believe in the quran. they may be born to the situation they are in right now, but they do believe in God & all that He has enjoined us to believe which includes the quran. it may take some time but who knows these brothers among the so called christian faith will emerge to make themselves known.

I don't know if you guys remember me, but I came here a few months ago saying that I was struggling with Islam. Then a few months later, I mentioned that I talked to a Sheikh who helped me and I started praying again. Well the problem is I'm back where I started. I stopped praying again. I find myself once again torn between Christianity or just not believing in a religion at all. I always think of my relatives who died and wonder what happened to them? Sometimes I feel that I want to die just to find out what exactly is the truth? I'm just so bloody curious!

if i may throw in my half cent... please consider without prejudice.
we are 'spiritual beings' in a 'human experience'. most often we got lost, for the human experience is material, and comes with all the attractions.
in the Qur'an (presumeably you have read translations), God has reminded us that He is the Creator, and the Teacher (among others). but, have we considered Him as such? if we have, and have also understood the fact that he is the Creator, and the Teacher, then we should acknowledge, and respect Him as the Creator, and the Teacher. (as an example, a person will not be a teacher, no matter how much knowledge he has, when no one has ever acknowledged him to be a teacher.) when one accepts, acknowledges, and honours God as his/her Creator or Teacher, the He will be the Creator or the Teacher.
so, how do we honour God as the Creator? the cliche is 'follow His guidance'. but that's the truth. He created us, therefore He knows everything about us - our worries, fears, happiness, intelligence, etc. He designed us, therefore He knows everything about our inclinations and tendencies, our likes and dislikes, etc. and He has drafted every potential for us humans. it is up to us to aspire and work for them, for He has drafted every path for us to gain in ascendance. the choice is ours indeed.
if we were to follow our intellect, how much can we really reach, or attain in understanding about life in this human experience? even intellect is His creation. how much could we?
and in the Qur'an, God has reminded us that He will answer every call for recourse (help, support, etc.), but have we done it? even if we have, have we done it right (according to His reckoning)?
so, this is where we need to learn the method, or the way, to honour God as the Creator, and the Teacher. and all these can only be found in the Qur'an. and the Qur'an should be the primary source for reference when it comes to learning the methods of the learning.
however, since the Qur'an is in arabic, and too much obstacles have been 'erected' to demotivate people against learning the Qur'an in its arabic 'text', we have no choice but to refer to God for guidance. and as some of you are familiar with my posts, please consider to do the following
a. ponder about God - as taught by God in the Qur'an, anytime, anywhere
b. meditate on God - emulate muhammad the prophet, meditating in the caves around mecca
c. talk to God or have a dialogue with God - emulate ibrahim
d. do not be too quick in making conclusions - the student must be stupid, for God is the Clever, the Wise in Knowledge
e. seek forgiveness, and implore God to reinstate His rahma, ni'ma, and guidance
f. express your thanks for everything, yes everything, anytime, anywhereas an exercise, recite (with full understanding) the fatiha, the moment you are awakened from sleep (anytime of the day, or night), and the moment you go for your sleep (or rest) at anytime of the day or night. and during the day, always keep in mind of God's status, and be respectful to honour God as the Creator, and the Teacher (among others). and spend some parts of the night to ponder, and meditate on God, preferably at midnight, every night it you are sincerely seeking the true guidance of God. remember Him, and He is attentive to you. forget Him, and He will ignore you. if you think that you have spent so much time on people (discussing, arguing, etc.), consider spending some time with God. think of Him. talk to Him.
He will guide anyone who wishes, and strives to be guided. honour the relationship with God with clear conscience, that you are seeking Him, the Creator of heaven and hell, the skies and the earth, etc.
if you are brave enough, ask Him whether your doing of salat, saum, hajj, umra, etc., is correct or otherwise.

btw, when you meditate, please be mindful of verse 835 - 'Wama kana salatuhum AAinda albayti illa mukaan watasdiyatan fathooqoo alAAathaba bima kuntum takfuroona'.
the saudi translation reads - Their prayer at the House (of Allah) is nothing but whistling and clapping of hands (Its only answer can be), ?Taste ye the Chastisement because ye blasphemed.?
please consider this - And their 'salat' (relationship/bonding/communion) by meditation (al-bayt) is nothing but 'humming' while 'clasping the hands', "Therefore you taste the punishment, because you disbelieved."

My point was to accept the commonality between the monotheist faiths (i.e. one God) and try to lead a righteous life. This way, there is no need to "choose". Of course, this will only work if this is the aspect one is struggling with, it may not be.
confused, you, like all of us, are in the position of currently sitting the test, and dont worry, you, like everyone else, will soon find out the answer, this is a certainty. What is not certain, is whether the outcome will be good or bad for us, so what does one do when they are sitting a test unsure of the answer? They do the best they can.

I'm really glad I found someone from Egypt here. I think since you live there you probably saw what happened to the country when it became "religous." People became mean, rude and intolerant. How can a country that has one of the oldest civilizations, and the most beautiful culture with the third movie production in the world go down like that? How can the country that has for decades been producing some of the best movies, music, literature brand all of these things as "haram." What's going on here? Why is all this happening?
I have to say one of the things that are really turning me off Islam is how people are becoming so bloody judgemental. You don't see Christians or Jews or Buddhists or in fact people of any religion behave like that. Last year I was interviewing a convert to Islam (I'm a journalist) and half way through the interview he said, "you know some people like to be middle muslims like you so that they can be accepted by the West." Now why did this guy call me a "Middle Muslim"? Because I'm not veiled. This is by the way a very small example. Muslims are becoming so bloody judgemental, always telling each other that they are not practicing the way they should. Which other religions do that? None.

Respectfully.My thought on this is this read The Bible, read The Quran, compare, talk to priests as well as imams and then go home and use your own logic.
You have to use your own judgment, afterall, you are making your decisions and not Bible, Quran, priests, imams or this forum.What does the oracle tell Neo at the first meeting?

i am also glad i found someone from egypt here handshakeYes indeed i am seeing what happen to the country and ppl, and it is devestating and frustrating, but that is not cos of religion, it is mainly cos of the system , ther is nothing called system in this country, every one is acting the way he like, no strict laws to follow so corrupption is every where, and for sure it is partially cos of religion BUT not God Religion, ppl in egypt are sunni , they r following man-made religion > which tell them whatever they do they r going to heaven.
yes egypt used to be a nice country, but that was before the militry revolution when the curve started decline.
Sill movies, music and song are largely produced in the country, it is not forbidden, and if anyone say it is haram, it is not from the quraan , it is from the traditional man -made books, who cares about these books ignore
we dont see christians and jews behave like that????!!! and what about the world war 1 and world war 2 and the holoucost and massacres in bosnia and kosovo, and burying ppl alive and the death and tortures of millions, was it initiated by muslims??? they were christians who did that horrible stuffs.
Islam has has nothing to do with all of that , it is a religion of peace and good deeds, if u want to know real islam u will find it in God book al-quraan.
