Miracles

So, you really believe the moon was split in half by Muhammad, and half of it fell behind a mountain?! By the way, some sources say it actually fell into someone's backyard, which is completely outrageous...
-
So, what's the point in "miracles" again? ) Allah doesn't need "miracles" to convince anybody, and that's why supernatural events don't happen today, and they probably never happened in the past...
The problem I have with miracles is... look around. Everything in reality is amazing if you examine it. The only 'need' for miracles in the ancient world would be to impress people who had no conception of what constitues nature.

I definately agree with you on this... Also, the Qur'aan makes it clear that Allah's "sunna"/method (laws) never changes, even to the point of calling it unchangeable. There's no evidence, in the scriptures or otherwise, that Allah ever steps outside of His own guidelines and breaks the universal laws of nature, which He established. The only things that allege this are the Bible (which has been severely corrupted, mistranslated, and misinterpreted throughout it's collection) and the hadiyths (which are, in many cases, extremely unreliable)...

Lets all conclude that hadhith are folk stories, shall we?

No such thing as miracles in the form that people fanaticise in my opinion. Everything in the universe is governed by laws set down by God, we are mearly tapping into the secrets of nature to help it work for us, e.g. medicine, aeronautics, space travel etc.
If you want to see real miracles just look around you, God has given us many examples to ponder over, from a small fly to the vast universe ;D God is Greatest.
Peace

All Muslims believe in that, Elhamdulillah God is able to do anything. He just say Be and there you go... peace

) All muslims believe that Muhammad somehow split the moon in half, causing it to fall to the earth, half of it landing behind a mountain and the other half landing in someone's backyard?!? Are you sure that ALL muslims believe that story? Is that even possible?

But the moon splitting isn't theoretically possible. I believe that science and religion are in harmony. peace

half of it landing behind a mountain and the other half landing in someone's backyard?!?
what, they mean like... actual HALF of the moon? how big do they think it is? hehe
All Muslims believe in that
oh, well, then it must be true. what a strong argument hehehe

Exactly, you beat me to it... Science and religion should be compatible and harmonized. It's completely ridiculous and unrealistic to assume that the actual moon (which is HUGE, I might add) split in half and fell to the earth, one half of it landing behind a mountain and the other half of it landing in someone's backyard. That story doesn't make any sense, and it's incompatible with science and reality...

handshake One of my class mates in school told me that the world was flat. I told him "what were you studying from your science text books all these years". And he tells me "there is a hadhith that says this" and I said "That is BS"

salaam brother
some miracles might seem incompatible with our reality that doesn't mean they never happened or untrue.
