    Salaamun Alaikum,
Dear brothers and sisters in Islam,

Can we translate each and every word of Al-Quraan in our own language?

There might be some verses where we have to use the specific words as for Salaam.

"And if those who believe in Our revelations come to you, then Say Peace be upon you,(?) our Lord has decreed mercy upon Himself, that any of you who commits sin out of ignorance and then repents afterwards and amends, then He is Forgiving, Merciful." 654

    Or it should be

"And if those who believe in Our revelations come to you, then Say Salaamun 'Alaikum, our Lord has decreed mercy upon Himself, that any of you who commits sin out of ignorance and then repents afterwards and amends, then He is Forgiving, Merciful." 654

I believe that we must have to use the same words "Salaamun 'Alaikum" as mentioned in the verse above.

If not, then can we use the same "Peace" even if we see one person who believes or two or more than that?

    See how Allah explains

Salaamun 'Alaikum for more than 2 persons 654, 1324

    Salaaman for one 1169, 1552, 5125

Salaamun 'Ala .............. for other two with names 37120

Salaamun 'Ala........... for other one 37109, 3713, 1915

    Salaamun 'Ala......... for others 37181

Salaamun or Salaamun 'Alaikum even in Jannah 746, 1010, 1423

Salaamun 'Alaikum while taking our souls 1632

By refering to these and many more verses only Salaamun or Salaaman or Salaamin has been taught to us. I don't know where As-Salaamu Alaikum came from.

Except for the one who wants to wish ourself as AlSalaamu 'Alaiyya 1933

In the verse related to orders like do this or don't do this are all literal. In this case, we have to use the words chosen by Allah.

Am I right here? Any suggestion are most welcome.

    Regards,

    MMKhan

I am not sure I understand the question. The God speaks of "those" who come to us, which I assume is Plural, we should say "Peace be upon you" (plural). By deduction, we understand that if it is only one person, we use singular. In English, it will be the same anyway.

Have I understood your question correctly?

        Peace be upon you,

Peace be upon you too brother,

Have I understood your question correctly?

        Yes, you do.

But I still dought how can we translate every thing in every language? But still I am not sure about saying so... but trying to understand it.

That means we have to or can say "Namastay" in Hindi instead of Salaam?

        Regards,

        MMKhan

          Salam mmkhan

sure you can. God did not create only one language... and what counts is the intention.

All languages are human inventions. The Divine "message" is written down in these crude, inadequate human languages as oppose to being written down in a Divine Language.

If there is a such things as a Divine Language then I would say it is the Language of Silence and the words would be Images and Symbols -)

            Regards,

Yes, you can say "Namastay", "Hetep", "Shalom", or any word form any language that translates to "salaam".

Even when you say "salaam", what are you thinking in your head? All information is still translated in your mind.

Still not convinced brother. If you or anyone can quote any verse from Al-Quraan that will be easy to understand it.

We are still not on the hard, rocky, concrete grounds.

                  Peace be upon you MMKhan,

I guess lets start this way, the God has stated in many places for us to "SAY" certain things. Why do you take ONE WORD and restrict it to Arabic? Peace is a state of mind. Letters are symbols that convey subjective ideas to the mind of man. Each method of symbolism (languages) conveys the same subjective idea with different symbols, which is to say that this idea is the VERY SAME at the top of the pyramid , if you will, while seperate at the lower levels.

ONE manifest through many. Beautiful how the God explains itself!

But the first step is to figure out why you only state that one Arabic word must remain arabic while the others don't. This should get the juices flowing for you.

Hmmmmmmm........ "Say" things must have to say exactly same, I believe. But about the language.. .No. It does not have to.

OK ok... as I quoted above Salaamun, Salaaman, etc.. for one or more people are different. Can we translate all of them just to Peace?

May Allah guide me and all to the right path.

                    Regards,
