Brother I do not feel any objectionable thing in it. All of them are HIS names. One can choose anyone.

    7180
(7180) Allah has the most excellent names. *141 So call on Him by His names and shun those who distort them. They shall soon be requited for their deeds

In the mosques it is the name of "Allah" which is mentioned mainly.

Had Allah not repelled one people by means of another people, monasteries, churches, synagogues *82 and mosques, wherein the name of Allah is often mentioned, would have been demolished

      Peace Brother Q

I do not find find the use of "allahumma" as objectionable at all , we could pray to God in any language we feel like as you know The God understands all languages . I just said that I am curious about the use of "allahumma" considering that most prophets and messengers in the Qur'an used to address God with either "Rabbi" or "Rabbana" . The use of "Allahumma" in the Qur'an is always immediately followed by either Rabbi or Rabbana , you can verify this for yourself .

As for mentioning mainly God in the Masjid , I am sure 7218 is very clear on that subject . Most "Muhammadans" are not satisfied with the mention of God only but happy if you add another name to it , 3945 .

      Peace

        Peace,

If I am not mistaken , the 5 times occurrence of "allhumma" was all said by Isa Ibn Mariam and even then it is followed by rabbana .
        Any thought from anyone ?

        Read...

        326
        Shakir
Say O Allah, Master of the Kingdom! Thou givest the kingdom to whomsoever Thou pleasest and takest away the kingdom from whomsoever Thou pleasest, and Thou exaltest whom Thou pleasest and abasest whom Thou pleasest in Thine hand is the good; surety, Thou hast power over all things.

        5114
        Shakir
Isa the son of Marium said O Allah, our Lord! send down to us food from heaven which should be to us an ever-recurring happiness, to the first of us and to the last of us, and a sign from Thee, and grant us means of subsistence, and Thou art the best of the Providers.

        832
        Shakir
And when they said O Allah! if this is the truth from Thee, then rain upon us stones from heaven or inflict on us a painful punishment.

        1010
        Shakir
Their cry in it shall be Glory to Thee, O Allah! and their greeting in it shall be Peace; and the last of their cry shall be Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.

        3946
        Shakir
Say O Allah! Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen! Thou (only) judgest between Thy servants as to that wherein they differ.

Show me in these verses where is word "Rabb" after Allah-humma. Is this not better our claims should be supported by due evidence ?

Interesting information. Would you please elaborate with some example what do they "add" the other name ?

            Peace "Q_student",

Interesting information. Would you please elaborate with some example what do they "add" the other name ?

JK- First in the adhaan "ashadu 'an la ilaaha ilallah... AHSHADU 'ANA MUHAMMADANAR RASOOLULLAH....". Then most of the time we hear "allahmuma salli 'ala Muhammad wa 'ala ahli Muhammad". The lots of "imaamul anbiyi" and "sallalaahau 'alihi wasalam" int the middle and in the end another "sallu" specifically mentioning Muhammad. They almost cannot mention GOD without also mentioning Muhammad along with Him(see 3945). I think this should be eneough to call them flagrant idolators. GOD Bless!

I stand corrected . Allahumma did occur 5 times but only once followed by "Rabbana" . It is why I said " you can verify this for yourself " . As for adding to God's name ? Look at "The Sahadah" , Qur'an .....and Sunnah etc . We are here to learn Bro handshake

              Peace

Actually discussion was about Allahumma and Rabbanaa. But You have pointed out another aspect. Thanks for it.
Do you want to say ,"If in one sentence there is name of Allah and in another sentence there is name of another creation ,this is idolatory' i.e Shirk? " Did I get your point correctly ?

JK- NO but when you are mentioning GOD's name as a remembrance i.e. zikrullah then at tht time theres no palce for other names. When your saying the call to prayer it is the time to remember GOD ONLY NOT the malaaikah, not the jinn, not Muhammad or anyone else. GOD Bless!
