ARE WOMEN ALLOWED TO INITIATE DIVORCE?
-
salam zerda. i give you the hukum of allah.
Quran 434
Quran 2228
allah is the law.
Salam Zerda,
Here is the hukum of Allah
49.13 O mankind, We created you from a male and female, and We made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Surely, the most honourable among you in the sight of God is the most righteous. God is Knowledgeable, Expert.

salam arnab. you display a characteristics common to new readers of the quran. cut/copy/pasting large sections of dictionaries and lexicons, do not demonstrate depth of study or knowledge, all it demonstrates is computer skills. taking one word out of a dictionary, because it suits your motives, refusing to study the implications of its use, is not quran study.
Salam Al Araf,
In any form of debate one must present clear evidence and sources to support their understanding. I have noticed you rarely do anything other than state your opinion using your traditional understanding without any resources to back your claims except that you simply "claim it" and expect others to accept your claim without contestation.
let me begin with your claim that nisa is not a woman, but simply a person delayed. fahad examined the implications for the claim it means a person delayed, and produced a list of verses that are reduced to incomprehensibility. because your definition reduces verses to incomprehensible, your definition cannot be correct. one verse in particular defies your definition and there is no way around it.
Quran 2222.
men do not menstruate, only women menstruate. this verse says the nisa menstruate. reasonably it is impossible that nisa are men. reasonably nisa can only mean women.
I cannot say that I necessarily agree that almaheedi means menstration at this time. But, let's say for the sake of argument that almaheedi actually means menstration.
Why do you insist that nisa means exclusively women?
IF as you claim, nisa means women, then
A woman is unclean/unpure the moment she washes her hands because she is touching repeatedly her hands as she washes (56)
Furthermore, if we go by your understanding, alatheena aminoo does not include women since they are instructed not to touch them if they want to be "purified" for salat. And, under your understanding the majority of verses in the Quran are ordinances and laws for men and not women.
This is utter nonsense.
now you throw another random word as a definition for talaq, because it suits your motives, refusing to study the implications of its use. the result is an another incomprehensible.
you claim that talaq means to go on ones way, quit, be free from bond etc.. without studying the implications of these uses in the quran. you present these multiple definitions, not because you know what talaq means, but because you do not know what it means, therefore throwing multiple words from cut/copy/paste is your solution.
Am I to understand, that in your opinion, well documented evidence in support for my understanding as well as the fact that the definitions are concordant with the usage in the Quran, is not acceptable because YOU have decided that your flawed traditional and misogynistic view (unsupported by evidence) of quranic verses is superior?
let us examine your implication that a woman who has a nikah with a man is as you claim, free to go on ones way, quit, or simply to be free from bond. this is not a novel issue, allah has already issued a judgment with regard to this claim.
Quran 543.
allah commands us to examine the torah for his judgments, and those who turn away are not believers. therefore i turn to the torah as he commands. what does the torah say regarding your claims that a wife may consider herself free to go on her way, quit, or simply be free from bond.
"speak unto the children of israel, and say unto them, if any man's wife go aside and commit a tresspass against him" Torah, Numbers 511
That verse is out of context and refers to trespasseses while married... not divorce. Anyone who reads the verses in context (even in English) can see this.
"when the woman drinks the water, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, the curse bearing water shall enter her body to poison her, and her belly shall swell, and her sexual organs shall rupture the woman will be a curse among her people" Torah, Numbers 527
"this is the law of jealousies, when a wife goeth aside to another instead of her husband, and is defiled" Torah, Numbers 528
any wife who claims she may go aside from her husband, i give her this bitter water to drink. may allah issue and enforce his judgments.
Again, these verses are in regards to adultery not divorce.
Salam,
Arnab -
do you mean sheman ;D
SALAM,
for some reason when i clicked on this thread it took me to the second page instead of the fifth one so i read hoping to get an understanding of what the thread s about, anticipating a post from you since your name was the last on it,looooool
i read 3 pages and i think your comment is most valuable for those who have no life and a decent punishment for those who have work tomorrow but found it more important to read YOUR post. -
I should have posted this query in the Matrimony section but I think this could attract more attention here.
Are women allowed to initiate divorce in the light of the Quran? Thanks in advance for your answers.

salam farida. i have seen your sense on other threads, nonsense.
justice, is allah's judgment wherein there is no error. only the unjust dispute, rant, and rage aginst the judgment of allah. i recall you ranting and raging when reminded of the judgment of allah. go your way.
allah is the truth.
Salam and Peace on you.
A momin of Allah is a civilized person, never talks in a way which is diametrically against The Teachings of The Exalted Quran.

4128 "If a woman has reason to fear ill-treatment or even a lack of interest from her husband, neither of them will be blamed if they come to a peaceful settlement, for peace is best. Selfishness is always present in human souls. If you do good and are mindful of God, He is well aware of all that you do."
435 "If you have reason to fear that a problem might occur between married couples, appoint one arbiter from among his family and one arbiter from among her family. If they both want to set things right, God may bring about their reconciliation. God is all-knowing, fully aware. "
From these signs I would say - yes! Women most definitely can initiate a divorce settlement. Why wouldn't a woman be able to make such a decision? If a woman were being beaten or mentally abused wouldn't it be in keeping with God's fair and just system (deen) to allow that woman to leave the marriage?
-
The question is even simpler than that
Where are women int he Qur'an forbidden to initiate divorce?
Anything that is not mentionned as forbidden, when it deals with women, must be tken that if it is not expressly instructed is foridden? How so? Men are the forbidders instead of God?
Are men idolaters of themselves?

The Indian thinker Ashghar Ali Engineering, who died not long ago, pointed out tht the Qur'an adresses men int erms of duties nd women in terms of rights.
Male egocentricity has indeed turned tht into making the Qur?n a boys club males are addressed because they count, omen are not addressed because they do not count.
Accoding to Ashghar Engineer nd according to anybody whot akes care of reading that is written, mles are addressed because they are told to comply with what tis ordered them by God. God is not giving them a spaceial right to divorce or giving them a special right to marry non muslim women, and many other things, God merely tell them that if they divorce they should do this and this this and that, and that if they marry non muslim women they must do this and that... Not to give them privileges, but to imopose of them duties.
Male vanity is boundless and those men who fall into that abyss are certainly not like males who have a sense of manliness and self respect and modesty. The world and women, most patently do not need boys clubbers but real honest men who are aware of their duties and feel pride in fulfilling them loyaly.

I was thinking this myself the other day, when I was having a discussion on the status of men and women in the Qur'an. Men are being given directives and warnings not to transgress the limits set by our rabb. Yet men seem to be of the impression that God is instructing them because women have a lower status, and therefore need to be treated like that of a child. Mmmm don't get me started!

Sometimes GOD is not even talking to men or about men,yet in their arrogance they take the subjectivity if it means "pride" and "honour" to them. I said if it means it to them,I did not say GOD meant whatsoever. Most of the times we just give the meanings our own twist!!!!
Men,yes men( Or the biggest majority) needed to be given what the brave women put up with in life, then we will see how "strong" and "mighty" it will make them feel?
Ok ,so there are some women who also need lessons. We all need lessons. Our attitude of "different" races/gender/tribes/...needs adjusting and deregulated!
"Ya aayuha Al-Naas"...GOD is talking to all of us!
"Inna khalknakum min Dakarin Wa Untha...Yes both sexes involved in reproducing us-Humans_...... etc..
.Inna Akramakum inda Allah Atqaakum." Yes indeed those who are peaceful/good/No gender bias... are Atqaakum" -simply the best!- Remember here the opposite of "Atqaakum" is "Aadakum" - opressors"-!!!!
"wa taawanu ala Al-birri wa Al-Taqwa, Wala Taawanu Ala Al-Ithmi wa Al-uudwan". Opposit of Taqwa is Uudwan( oppression). i.e Compete in Al-birri and Taqwa brothers and sisters!!!!!Anyway, my rant again.
GOD bless you all.
Peace. -
