6145 Say, "I do not find in what is inspired to me forbidden except that it be already dead, or blood poured forth, or the meat of pig, for it is foul/unclean; or what is corruptly dedicated to other than God." Whoever is forced without seeking disobedience or transgression, then your Lord is Forgiving, Compassionate.
6146 For those who are Jewish, We forbade all that have claws; and from the cattle and the sheep We forbade their fat except what is attached to the back, or entrails, or mixed with bone. That is a punishment for their rebellion, and We are truthful.

Why not? If God forbids it, he forbids it.
Nevertheless, there are some diseases linked to pork. Search "Trichinose" on google. -
I believe my translation says we shouldn't touch the carcass either (the dead body of a pig). But I don't see anything about a pig being dirty in and of itself when it's alive, as long as we don't eat it.

Nope, I have Muhammad Asad's translation. And since I didn't go look up the verses I was just going by memory - I must have read some other translation online somewhere, and that's where I came up with the carcass prohibition. My apologies.

If you read the entire verse, you will find that if the meat is not eaten in a state of sin then the act is to be overlooked.
This would imply something deeper than a simple case of uncleanliness, as do most verses in the Qur'an (and Hadith) when they are read in light of context, locale and historical setting (i.e. reality).
Truth is not exclusive to deity and stands with or without humans to lay claim to it --
but free to all who would see it for, simply, what it is.Give the Prophet a little credit, Peace Be Upon Him.

The Holy Qur'an, like so many sacred expressions which have, over so many years, been dissected like labratory animals in the noble attempt to transmit their truths into a common language -- is nothing short of a musical ode or, rather, a collection of them, intended to inspire the partaker in a manor which only a musical ode can hope to achieve.
To further dissect its meaning in such an ignoble manner, in the attempt to understand those truths, is to ultimately break from the harmony of them, thereby distracting from and distorting those truths and the original intention behind the message.
I am, by no means, suggesting that my translation of Al-Fatiha is the verbatim reflection of the Arabic, but... Al-Fatiha rhymes, people!
