It depends, perhaps around 4000 years ago the word 'Israel' was known as a showbiz nickname for a guy called Jacob..
It is said that Jacob earned the nickname 'Israel' after he won a WWF match against The Defending Superboss named The Rock a.k.a Dwayne Johnson.
The big match is said to last the whole saturday night-time, aired live universe-wide, and it was a close-call.

The Rock managed to damage Jacob's thigh during the match.
Although Jacob's dramatically closes the match with a good chair smack-down towards The Rock forehead and won the match.
To commemorate those big smack down event; Jacob's descendant did not eat the sinew of the hip which is upon the hollow of the thigh up until now..
While his arch rival; descendants of The Rock still commemorate that event by paying homage to The Black Rock by encircling it 7 times once a year.

But now the word "Israel" refers to a country which actually more suitable to be named "Jewishtan".

    Salam / Peace

I advice the Palestinians to leave the land to the Israelis and the Arabs should welcome them wholeheartedly.

497 Those whom the Angels take, while they had wronged their souls; they said "What situation were you in?", they said "We were oppressed on Earth." They said "Was God's Earth not wide enough that you could emigrate in it?" To these their abode will be Hell; what a miserable destiny!

      Migrate from the tyrants. jedi

      Peace.

Yes, but that is talking about people whom the angels/controllers take while they wronged themselves and not just anyone.

If a Palestinian farmer or shephard is killed, will he go to hell because he didn't emigrate before when he had the chance? Yes the earth is spacious. Is it correct for me to imply that you meant the Arabs are not welcoming of the Palestinians, and that they should be?

I am not sure if this applies to a historical context (the early muslims) or applies always, but if it applies always, does the Qu'ran not say to fight those who come to evict you from your homes? And a person will go the hell for this?

Maybe if the person dies fighting oppression while committing the only unforgiveable sin (shirk) at the same time, sure. How about a muslim who does not die fighting oppression while simultaneously committing the only unforgiveable sin (shirk), but dies fighting against oppression and people trying to evict him or others from their homes, farms, neighbourhoods, grazing areas without comitting shirk, will they go to hell if they die doing this?

How about not even fighting physically, what about Palestinians who die for speaking out against their and/or the oppression in general (we are told to speak justly) not while committing shirk, or Palestinians who are killed completely randomly (for whatever reason, like an Israeli soldier in a bad mood or something or a stray bullet, artillery shell, inordinate airstrike etc.), without even saying anything or committing any acts of physical violence while not committing shirk? Are they going to hell too?

        Peace AK85,

You are right, the palestinians are stuck. I still don't know how God will judge the present world! Everyone seems to have his reasons and most have it out of good will! So I leave these complex judgements to God. But palestinians is better to show mercy to themselves and leave. Thats the best strategy right now in my opinion. They have to get rid of the palestinian identity, it is not quranic anyway.

        Peace.

Interesting concept. I believe that as God created the universe, then the whole universe must be Holy Land

There is a problem with this argument..

          http//www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=8XmtW_fIj68

          http//www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=iNpufW3_yVs

It's synonymous with the term "Existence".. You're arguing for the impossible because you can not create that which you require to exist. And of course there is this problem with that argument as well

          EXISTENCE BOOK OF ORIGINS
          http//thejackelscolumn.wordpress.com/2013/11/02/existence-book-of-origins/

Regardless, the topic of Yahweh being a volcano GOD is an interesting one because it's most likely true. And no it's not likely a volcano in Arabia giving Exodus is most likely in reference to the Thera Eruption. Yes the super volcanic eruption in which triggered the collapse of the bronze age.. The revelation of yahweh is mostly the merger of moon and mountain god worship.. Yahweh is one of the sons of EL to whom gets equated with El Shaddai the GOD of Abraham. Abraham to whom came from Ur, a place where the moon god Sin was worshiped. A deity in which Abraham's father and likely his grandfather worshiped. He comes to the city Shaddai and makes the Patron deity his primary deity. El Shaddai is also known as the usurper and attested to his shining mountain. He became a moon mountain GOD as god of the mountains who dwells at Mt Sinai. There is a ton of evidence supporting this.. I joined this fora admittedly to address this topic because some of you might be interested in the evidence in which supports that hypothesis. I outlined this over 3 articles here, and it goes pretty deep

          Part 1

          Part 3
          http//thejackelscolumn.wordpress.com/2013/03/15/yahweh-the-rock-of-israel/

And I've recently come across further evidence to which I will place in citation in the first article as an update sometime this week here

            Salaam,

It might be a good theory that Canaan is the mountain range which Mecca is neighbor to, but it does not fit my theory of Pharisees = Persians. However my mind is always open to alternatives. However, I doubt that Abraham traveled from Ur to Canaan where Mecca is with his wife and all of his possessions, but I have not excluded the possibility altogether. For Abraham is, according to the Jewish scriptures at least, told to have traveled and spent time in Canaan and then went up to Har(r)an in today's south Turkey, north of Iraq. Somehow I feel that today's Mecca is a fraud but it is difficult to prove true or false because of hypocritical people possessing these lands and preventing honest excavation. The Kaaba' is a building which was originally formed like a typical cathedral as per evidence next to the present building and relatively obvious historical records that the building was rebuilt a few hundred years ago to make a cube out of it for some reason. It is a pretty tiny building that is being used in worship and it is like walking around a storage shed instead of something representing God. Compare this building to the grand temples of God in the north and it looks like a joke. Even without being knowledgeable in Arabic I can tell that the circumvention thought to be mentioned in Qur'an means to encompass the building, i.e. travel to the location. It seems to have been a location much like a monk's abbey where you contemplate and purify yourself that you may become closer to God. The ritualistic walking around the building several times seems more like something from Paganism and that God is a neanderthal god which needs to be "triggered" by a certain behavior, like the riddles in adventure video games.

The Phillistines seems to have been a hostile tribal people overall and they would not have let safe passage to strangers and I am sure they lived east of northern Egypt and up towards today's Israel and even possessed these lands.

Even if Israel was a promised people they have more than forfeited their rights by now even if there exists an old covenant. However anyone can choose to take up on God's covenant and become prosperous. The Children of Israel as per Qur'an is an example God brings up in Qur'an of a people who repeatedly have failed to heed the Message or become forgetful of the Covenant of God.

As we can see in Qur'an there is a Messenger and way of God for each community. The Israeli rules and restrictions were active for those who followed these teachings while certain teachings were active for those who chose to follow Qur'an, the renewed Message anno 7th century, which fundamental part remained the same however as always.

But we are told to follow the creed of Abraham so it is this sign we are to follow; it is before Israel's time and the Jewish Covenant about the prosperity of Moses' people, so Abraham was not really part of this and why God said Abraham was neither Jew nor Christian. Obviously it is an opener and encouragement that you do not have to be sad because you were not born in the Israeli tribes but in your own people with your own chances, and also show that people in the past were not so righteous just because they were part of a covenant. Well, it also acted as a clear warning to those who follow the Jewish and Christian Faith, that part of the Message.

Basically, if one understands Qur'an, the Message is not as difficult as people make it, this has remained the same even if the details might have differed between people

            http//farm6.staticflickr.com/5546/10816793444_18c10caea7.jpg

Sorry if I spam this diagram, but it is my way of showing the simplicity of the Message.

            God bless you

              Greetings and Peace, all group

Why a volcano and not an asteroid?

What timeframe are we looking at? Lot (Peace upon all Prophets) was a nephew of Abraham, so this should set some time frame...perhaps circa 4,000 years ago?

I've seen a few of these; these are samples for consideration.

Btw, has anyone done anything similar based only on AQ? I have only found chronology for when verses were revealed.

              ALLAH knows best.

              peace

                Salaam,

According to one Jewish source Abraham and Lot lived approximately 2000BC. That was in a translation of the Book of Jasher. It seemed like relatively well-founded information using historical sources to pinpoint the series of events.

                God bless you

Interestingly this documentary attributes the series of events during moses to volcanic ash cloud

                  http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwnrjU67Dag

Since there is no volcano in Egypt they found one 500 miles away in a greek island called Santorini!!!

I will have to watch those tomorrow after work. And if you not the references in my articles, evidence includes much of Egypt being buried in ash, and that the Therah eruption would have been visible to the entire Levant region as far east as Israel. Even more interesting is the linked source in the second article in which goes over the time of the Exodus to which would directly be in line with the Eruption of Therah, and it even explains the apposing accounts by the Egyptians and the Evicted Hyksos to whom were likely those mentioned in Exodus and a part of the pre-Israelites. Here the Egyptians saw it as a military victory while those evicted painted it as being led to the promise land.. Both which are depicting the very same event.. It wasn't a god that caused the chaos of the era, it was the Eruption of THera. Yahweh is essentially a volcano god, a god of the mountains... And lets face it, if we lived in that era and witnessed a civilization ending super volcanic eruption more than 1,000 times as powerful as the Mt Saint Helen's eruption, we would probably believed it was GOD... Not even the nuclear bombs dropped on Japan could remotely compare to this event in which shaped the evolution of modern religion. If Thera hadn't erupted, the Abrahamic religions of today wouldn't even exist.

Why a volcano and not an asteroid?

Simply because the descriptions given are not consistent with asteroids (not even remotely close).. And neither is the actual hard evidence outside scripture. All the evidence clearly points to a volcanic eruption. Even Psalms 18 depicts this very context, and even to the point where GOD is not only the spirit of the volcanic mountain, but the volcanic mountain itself.. When you read the bible in this context, it actually makes coherent sense.. Even revelations to which references back to Exodus makes complete sense to what they are actually inferring to.. This is anthropomorphism and animism of the most powerful eruption human kind has ever witnessed as far we are aware of. To them it would have been the most powerful thing in their era..

If you are looking for the time period of Exodus, I would strongly recommend reading the source

                      http//www.bibleandscience.com/archaeology/exodusdate.htm

You also need to consider that Exodus is written post event, and that could range 1 to a few hundred years.. But it's clear that the event in question is most assuredly in reference to the Thera eruption and the aftermath...
