No where in the Quran does it call the children of Israel 'Israel'. Thats a silly nationalist word that is wrong and has no relation to the Quran. Israel is a man. There is no clear evidence in the Quran that he is Jacob. But as usual, as everything in the Quran is apparently vague, you can deduce from the general knowledge of the abrahamic religions.

The whole area of ancient Midian of Western Arabia bordering the Red Sea
with ancient ruins and Jebel Tur/Mt Sinai which has been found and is

It depends, perhaps around 4000 years ago the word 'Israel' was known as a showbiz nickname for a guy called Jacob..
