If anyone reads the tactics adopted by the Pagans of Mecca in the days of revelation of Grand Qur'aan, he will find similarity with the above approach of ayman. Qur'aan is everywhere talking about specific "My House" and Specific Location and Specific Purpose and aymen still insists "ANY" place. I therefore again suggest him to please start taking a lesson of Arabic from an excellent teacher luckily available on this Form, Sister Samia.
I am sure Samia knows all about the pagan in Mecca. We all do. We all see them mindlessly spinning seven times around a stone cube and kissing and fondling it and the Black Stone. One doesn't even need to know Arabic to see the pagan circus going on in Mecca. If the same exact thing was happening in your town, you would also call it pagan. The air in Mecca doesn't turn something pagan into something rational.

Therefore is to be read and understood with reference to the word and not with reference to anything. The perception infolded in the Root of is that of prominence and appearance. It is employed to refer to ankle bone which projects above the tarsus. It is used to refer to prominent and protuberant breasts of a woman. Such breast which is not protuberant Root is used and like of that particular breast are the orbits of sun and moon etc.
It is used to refer to a square/rectangle. . It is also employed for any quadruped, four leg mammals; four legs make a rectangle. And any thing square/rectangle has the peculiarity of prominence, visibility, raised above ground. When we say "My house" the perception conveyed is that of a physical structure having four walls, a roof and a door. Even from Layth's erroneous translation we can see that "al-masjid al-haram" is nothing other than "the truth from our lord". So our focal point should be the truth from our lord. In other words, as you said, the truth from our lord provides the principles around which we organize our lives. It is instituting the truth from our lord in our personal lives and govenment. So "al-masjid al-haram" is primarily an institution and not a superficial four walls and a roof.
- Those to whom We have given the Scripture know it as they know their own children; and a group of them hides the truth while they know.
Those who were given the book (not a map to Mecca or anywhere else) know it ("al-masjid al-haram" as they know their own children. No one here or anywhere knows Mecca or anything in it as they know their own children. On the other hand, deep inside those who were given the book know the truth from their lord but most of them hide it.

As for where I face during prayer, why the heck does it matter. It's not like you can ever even pinpoint the exact direction to Mecca's ka'ba. It will always be off.
And it's no wonder I've always realized PROSTRATING TO A DAMN CUBE borders on idol worship. Imo it's even worse that prostrating to a quran.

We, true Muslims, do not believe in directions; Jews and Christians sanctify directions. While we are inside the Masjid alharam we stand in the circle for the congregational prayer so that each one confronts, is face to face to Ka'aba. Thus all 360 directions are covered. And when you are away, then it is said confront/be face to face Masjidal haram, since there people say congregational prayers in a straight row because of which every one will not be face to face to Ka'aba.

Mazhar, what do you mean by covering 360 directions? It is believed that there were 360 idols in and arround kaabah.
We, true Muslims, do not believe in directions; Jews and Christians sanctify directions. While we are inside the Masjid alharam we stand in the circle for the congregational prayer so that each one confronts, is face to face to Ka'aba. Thus all 360 directions are covered. And when you are away, then it is said confront/be face to face Masjidal haram, since there people say congregational prayers in a straight row because of which every one will not be face to face to Ka'aba.

Alif; consonants of Arabic alphabet ( ‎, Laa'm and Mee'm. Initial letter Alif has no speech sound and is not conjoined with the succeeding consonants of the word, while Laam and Meem are conjoined, and both have above them ancillary glyph/prolongation sign/mark which extends/stretches the sound value of the letter to which it is added. It reflects that the Book in hand is in the language that has letters and other marks, representing that its writing system is letter-diacritic combination based, resulting in the combination of sounds that form a syllable, rather than a single sound.The prolongation mark reflects that the following letter is still with which it is joined resulting in pause as consonant ends with still resulting in natural pause in its pronunciation "Laa'm". And so has the consonant the prolongation sign suggesting that it is to be pronounced with stretched sound to make last still letter vivid in sound ending in natural pause "Mee'm- ". Prolongation sign will also appear when the following consonant is "Hamza, " which can distinctly and audibly be pronounced only if the preceding letter is pronounced elongate. It may be noted that the prolongation sign is not the equivalent nor it represents hamza followed by alif.

2 - You did not give a single proof (archeological or historical ) of mecca being known as a famous city before 8th century. the burden of proof is upon you.
3 - Quoting from your colorful website didn't help in any way the purpose of this discussion.
4 - Do you really believe that a muslim should circumvulate around a stone cube and kiss a black piece of meteorite ?? if so, you'll have a lot of trouble with your (sunni/shiaa) religion.Salam all

And when We appointed/declared/made "The House" the place of pilgrimage/return/assembly for people
and a place of safety/shelter/amnesty;
and for them to adopt the standing place of Iebra'heim as a standing/assembly place of sa'laat;
and We enjoined/imposed a pledge/duty upon Iebra'heim and Iesma'eile
that they should maintain/manage the cleanliness/sanctity of My House for those people who circle around it, and stay around it, and for the purpose of bowing and prostration of people.
Allah has appointed/declared the Sanctified House Al-Ka'abata enduringly a place of assembly/stay/congregation for the people.

Try to be honest with yourself don't you see that "bayt/ " means something else than a physical house ??
we you read all the occurences of this word in the quran, not a single time do you find that it doesn't mean a physical house ?
2 - if you understand that the stone cube in Mecca is the house of God (read it again at loud to see how it's ringing in your ear) then, why should one circle it from outside ?? why aren't we invited INside ?? if you invited me at your house, should i have dinner outside ??
