So basically, once in a while I like to smoke shisha with some friends - more of socialsing thing for me. I dont feel like it's harming my body and Im most certaintly not addicted to it. I just like the flavours and the relaxationg i get from it. But is it considered haraam? I know it's a arab tradition right?

    Peace.

    Ramdan Kareem by the way.

I am not sure if it is unlawful. However, it is unhealthier/more dangerous than you might think. http//news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/8214097.stm

      I know it's a arab tradition right?

Killing baby daughters/infanticide was an arab tradition, wearing a beard is an arab tradition, idolatry is an arab tradition, wearing a turban/head-cover is an arab tradtion, etc...

I am no longer a Sunna-rejecter. See 4:59-65, 62:2-4, 3:31, 4:156, 7:157 Messenger teaches and is to be followed and obeyed. Examples of revelation received which is not in the Qur'an: 3:123-126, 33:37, 2:187, 66:3, 62:9.

I personally dont have anthing against smoking shisha. I guess once a month wont do you much harm.

              It's tobacco, isn't it?
I'd say it's haraam and against The Quran.

7157 Those who follow the Gentile messenger prophet whom they find written for them in the Torah and the Gospel; he orders them to kindness, and prohibits them from evil, and he makes lawful for them the good things, and he makes unlawful for them the evil things, and he removes their burden and the shackles that are upon them. So those who believe in him, and support him, and help him persevere, and follow the light that was sent down with him; these are the successful ones.

2195 And spend in the cause of God, but do not throw your resources to disaster. And do good, for God loves those who do good.

429 O you who believe, do not consume your money between you unjustly, unless it is through a trade which is mutually agreed by you. And do not kill yourselves; God is Merciful towards you.

1726 And give the relative his due, and the poor, and the wayfarer; and do not waste excessively.
1727 Those who waste excessively are brothers to the devils, and the devil was to his Lord a rejecter.

Sister, i care about all people and especially about their health. I really hate it when people destroy their health because health is one of the blessings that The Exalted God The Most Merciful has given us and is still extending it, even after and during the time of our destruction of it.

Save your money, sister, it's recession, i know what i'm tlaking about.
Save your money for healthy food, for your rent, for a movie ticket, for clothes, for a vacation, for education, more importantly, save the money and give it to the poor

2215 They ask you what they should spend, say What you spend out of goodness should go to your family and the relatives and the orphans, and the needy, and the wayfarer. And any good you do, God is fully aware of it.

No offence but i've seen some sunni women in London smoking sheehs and considering the fact that they're wearing lots of make up (sometimes waaaay too much) the sheehs amakes them look really unattractive.

Then again, it's your body, your choice.
May God guide you to what is better then sheehs and give you more wisdom.
              God bless you.
              Peace.

I don't see any verse stating forbidden for you....etc on smoking. It's a dangerous ground making something haraam when The God hasn't.

Why waste money on sheesha, when you can earn Paradise by giving charity?
Read my previous post again and see what exactly i qouted.

I have read your post respectably. Waste is a relative term that you or I cannot label who is doing what wastefully. Waste money and giving money are not acronyms so you cannot relate the two together. Taking and giving are more relative, hence your justification of smoking on that basis is very weak brother.

                    PEACE

Just wanted to say that throwing out a word like 'haram' is very risky. Be careful to denounce something as haram that is not explicitly done so in the quran.

                      Shaky grounds.

It?s pretty bad for you actually.. Worse than the cigs. Some people pass out from smoking it.

                          Now the haram/halal issue

Quran doesn?t say ?smoking hooka/shisha/argila/pipe smoke is haram?. I think people need to draw away from haram halal statements and think of the issue in a different way, such as

"Will this be good for me? Will this be bad for me? If it's bad avoid it, if it is good enjoin it."

Is inflicting harm upon yourself a form of oppression? If so there answer is there.

We are given freedom from The God to choose what we want to do. If someone wants to smoke I believe he won't be punished in the next life but in this life through cancer etc. But I guess most things in excess can have repercussions so we all learn differently.

Sheehsa, cigarettes, alcohol, cigares, illegal drugs, pork and such things would be bad for me, i would waste my money and at the moment i don't want to invest money in the abyss.

me too. actually that brought something to my attention, is not tisreef a term used in the Quran? being wasteful. In that case, cigs/hooka etc could be a form of tisreef maybe?

Yep we are given the freedom to choose so we should be wise. I'm not sure about punishment.
me too. actually that brought something to my attention, is not tisreef a term used in the Quran? being wasteful. In that case, cigs/hooka etc could be a form of tisreef maybe?

Srif (seen-ra-fa) is over-indulgence/being excessive/ to act immoderately.

Is driving good for the environment?

Is using a cellphone/mobile good for our brains?

Is eating out good for us? Snacking?

Most things have their pros and cons.
