    541

541 The Hour draws near, and the moon is split.
542 And if they see a sign, they turn away and say Ongoing magic!

as Nasa is bombing the Moon this Friday afternoon... Allah knows, we will see...

maybe a more correct translation could be if it has not happened yet
541 The Hour draws near, and the moon is / has cracked.

541 is just a general warning, in my opinion. The whole chapter is about the warnings and how the quran fits into this equation.

5416-17 sum up the themes of this chapter.

                Peace,
                Respectfully.

All i can say is this God AllWise knows best.
I personally don't think that all the weapons on Earth could split moon in pieces, let alone in half but i guess we'll just have to wait and see, won't we?

I propose we all watch The Abyss, director's cut.
                Collectivly.
                God bless you.
                Salam.

                    Peace,

What about the concept of translating "inshaqqa al qamaaru" as 'the matter has become manifest'?

There are other ways of interpreting this other than the moon was split in half. It could mean that a piece of the moon was removed; it could refer to some type of eclipse, where only part of the moon was seen; it could mean that the moon is "passed", or moved along; it could even mean that there's an opening, or a channel, on the moon somewhere. And it might not even be referring to the moon at all...

                    Peace,

                    Ahmad

I like your thinking Ahmad Bilal.

Inshaqq is ALWAYS used in connection with the hour or the 'inevitable' day -- all 5 references. Root shiin-qaf-qaf. 8026 is a good reference for sh-q-q, showing that it means something being cracked open, when referring to celestial objects.

                      inshaqqa vb. (7)

I think it's talking about how great of a day/time it will be, emphasizing its importance i.e. the moon will be overwhelmed and hence, 'split'.

no matter what they do, they can never do more than the equivalent of a pin prick on the moon's surface, and that's a far cry from splitting it open

BTW, "inshaqq" does not (necessarily) mean "splitting in two" - see 8026 and 5044.

I am no longer a Sunna-rejecter. See 4:59-65, 62:2-4, 3:31, 4:156, 7:157 Messenger teaches and is to be followed and obeyed. Examples of revelation received which is not in the Qur'an: 3:123-126, 33:37, 2:187, 66:3, 62:9.

We should not try to befool the readers. That is why some persons are reluctant to post actual Arabic verses. The do not rely upon the "Quran" but the translation by so and so.(their imaams).

                            (

Neither of these verses use the the word "inshaqqa".
                            Rk methodology must be stopped.

Instead of assigning meanings as "asunder", "broken into two pieces" to the Root please consider "cleft", "indentation", Urdu/Persian word and the meanings of the verse might become evident

                              "And the Moon has cratered".

This is no different from those who listen to their imams (posing as linguists) who say something is 'wau of state' without ever producing evidence, lol.

There is a difference between "Shaqqa" and "inshaqqa". These are entirely differnt form of the roots "Sheen " qaaf' qaaf".
I refer to RK because he said that Allah Lied in the Quran that it was protected for ever while it had not been protected for 1400 years. Is this not a LIE ?

Kinda gravedigging but i think this already happened, this is a metaphor i believe, and i think the moon has split in 1969 when the scientists (Neil Armstrong and others) took 21kg moon rocks from it.

It happens on judgement day. "And the moon is split" refers to a certain state of mind, often how "moon" is used in western poetic writings aswell. A better translation might be "and the moon was half".
