    So it goes like this

    1. Prophet Adam was created to live on earth as its ruler/governor/viceroy
    2. He performed righteous deeds and was rewarded heaven afterward.
    3. He broke God's commandment and sent back to earth, but he repented, and was promised heaven if he made up for his sins (so he had to start all over again).

I can agree with point 1 as there's quranic verse to back the claim but points 2 and 3 is very far fetched as there's no verse from my research to suggest this.

    PEACE

Where do you get the idea that Adam is a prophet from?
I'd say that Adam is one person, allegorically. There is no doubt, however, that he stands for all of makind, though.

359 The likeness of Jesus, according to God, is like that of Adam. He created him (Adam) from dust, then He said to him, "Be," so he is.

Pay close attention to the usage of the present tense of the last word (i.e. "is&quot.

I am no longer a Sunna-rejecter. See 4:59-65, 62:2-4, 3:31, 4:156, 7:157 Messenger teaches and is to be followed and obeyed. Examples of revelation received which is not in the Qur'an: 3:123-126, 33:37, 2:187, 66:3, 62:9.

        Peace,

It seems a bit strange reading the above verse if we hold the view that Prophet Adam was punished by being cast out to earth. I mean, God says that he intended to 'place a viceroy on earth', which is Prophet Adam... and that happened BEFORE Prophet Adam sinned. So it doesn't fit to me nor does it make sense that God created Prophet Adam knowing that he would be punished later. So I actually think that Prophet Adam was first created on earth, contrary to the popular beliefs that he was created in heaven.

The Qur'aan doesn't say that Adam was created in the heavens, it says that he was created and placed on the earth. He obviously wasn't the first species of his kind... When the scripture says that Adam was cast "down", it doesn't necessarily mean that he was sent down to another planet or down from the sky. It could also mean that he was lowered in status or position, that he was relieved of his honor and prestige, or even that he was humbled or humiliated. The idea that Adam was in the heavens, and he was cast down to the earth (from space) because of his sin is not Qur'aanic... Unless you believe that Adam was an alien...

So, you're saying that Adam ate from a restricted tree WHILE IN THE HEAVENS? Are there trees in the sky?

Also, the Qur'aan says that, once someone dies, that person is FORBIDDEN from returning to our plane of existence here on earth. Therefore, Adam couldn't have started on earth, gone to heaven after death, committed a crime in his new form, and then gone BACK to the earth as a punishment. That concept sounds almost like reincarnation...

Where does it say that heaven is in the sky?

adam - mankind or single human? Or Ground / Soil?

In Hebrew; "Adam" is the masculine form of the word "adamah" meaning ground or earth and related to the words adom (red), admoni (ruddy) and dam (blood)

"1.some verses mention 'children/descendants of adam'"

Which allegorically could also mean the descendants FROM Ground / Soil / Earth..

Where does it say that heaven is in the sky?

The word used for heaven in Arabic is "samaa", which literally means SKY, or what is above you...

Now, if you're trying to compare the heavens (the sky) and the paradise ("jannah&quot, then that's a completely different topic of discussion.

This doesn't change the context. In the Qur'aan, Adam is said to have been shaped from "black mud", actually being formed from the ground. Therefore, even if you say that "children of adam" means children of the earth, it doesn't change the fact that Adam was a real person. It just implies that he came from the earth, like all the rest of humanity, something that the Qur'aan says pretty clearly...

On a side note, if "children of adam" means that people literally came from the ground (adam = ground, soil), then how do you explain the character Adam having a wife? Were the angels (governing forces) told to prostrate to the soil or dirt? How are Iblees and 'the ground' enemies of eachother?

The statement of "Adam being shaped from black mud" explains the background why the new species is named Adam in Arabic/Hebrew or "Mud/Soil" in English. The "shaping of human from 'mud' as basic material" could infact happens for million of years... with many 'in-between' species.. also known as 'evolution'.

He is also the first earthly species which advanced enough to possess the ability to put a 'labelling' around concept and things (also called naming, which Quran explicitly state that God teaches Adam the name of things) and also the ability to differentiate between "good" and "bad".

It's also interesting to see that "Adam Eve" could also means "To Lived The Earth" as "Eve"/"Hawwa" (Arabic) / "Hayya" (Hebrew) means "live / to live".

While Iblees is said in the Quran to be 'shaped' from "smokeless fire"... take a look around where can we found a 'smokeless fire'..
Take a look at the sky during clear daylight! Yes the Sun is a smokeless fire!
Sun is actually a huge ball of Hydrogen and Helium.. 'gasses' material..

It could be that Iblees = A living being with gases form..
While "Adam Eve" / "The Being To Lived The Earth" = A living being with solid / earth form..

                    Salam / Peace

                      Peace ;
Wherever Allah wanted to refer to "mankind" Allah clearly used the word "Bani Adama".
