My question is, who is wrong here history or Alkitab?

Just want to share a clarification for my mistake. Although, unintentional but worthy of correction. Above in red, I really meant to say "My question is who is wrong here history or traditional translations of AlKitab as both seem to be at odds here. Of course, I cannot even imagine the real AlKitab to be wrong.

    Peace.

    Bada

Peace San, your conclusion based on your understanding is that in this Sura addressee is "this person referred to as "you" in the sura was an orphan, misguided, and poor".

Hence conclusion is, this "you" has to be exalted prophet himself.

Well, that is/was your conclusion, bro Badar. As i said before, i do not accept the argument that the sura is addressed to the Prophet alone.

And in the case that the Prophet was one of those addressed--wasn't the Prophet a human? What is wrong with him being misguided in the past, then guided by his Creator?

As for your clarified question in red, sorry i have little or no knowledge ) of both the "history" and "traditional translations of Alkitab" you referred to. I think the actions implied in the verses 9-11 are the ones need observing--'to apply in real life' like you said. I'm not trying to teach or anything here, but, maybe, while you are seeking for your answer you can try to do something related to the verses 9-11. God knows best--you might find the answer sooner. Just a suggestion, dear brother Badar, for us and for myself too.

      Peace,

Well, that is/was your conclusion, bro Badar. As i said before, i do not accept the argument that the sura is addressed to the Prophet alone.

As I understand, the translation done by Brother Badar, does not indicate, that it is addressed to the Prophet. If his decoding of the old classical arabic is correct, based on the application of use of Jazm, etc etc, as utilised by them in www.servantofthelight.com, then it is obvious that it is a totally different topic being discussed here.
It is the same principle used by them at the above site, in their other translations so far done, and as is exemplified by them in Surah Lahab also, where it shows that it has nothing to do with the hate speech of God against an uncle of the Prophet and his wife, as is widely believed, but in reality, is shown to offer a great guiding principle for all humanity. If their application of the principles of Jazm, Teshdeed, etc etc., is correct, then the following translation of Surah Lahab would be correct, rather than the widely believed concept of this being addressed to an uncle of the Prophet

        Surah 111 1

One who has severed utterly from all bonds of union with the guiding rope (Quran). They suffered the ruin of breaking into small pieces and perished for ever. Such a human?s refusal will lead them to be in a state, like an emotive burning with thirst, being a state of ruin and as dead.

        Surah 111 2

Such a person will not profit at all. One who is proud and heeds themselves high above others for whatever wealth they have collected and gained.

        Surah 111 3

Such a person has deluded and deceived themselves, and caused themselves to fall into destruction. So kindle a fire to ransom yourself from the evil of such persons. Persons, who?s unwillingness to change will lead them to be in a state, like an emotive burning with thirst, being a state of ruin and as dead.

        Surah 111 4

Have no self pity, after passing beyond the right and straight course open to you. That is the course in my decree towards you. The one that incites urges and instigates.

        Surah 111 5

On account of this, to save your neck without delay tie yourself with the guiding rope from me (Quran), then to continue your guided journey laboriously and energetically.

        Back To Surah List

I hope and pray for the right guidance and understaning for all of us, and commend all those who are trying to understand the things as might have been understood by the Prophet and his companions. Hope they are guided correctly, so all can benefit. It might be of benefit for us to compare this translation with multiple other translations available at www.openburhan.com. But more beneficial for all of us would be to understand their method of translation and cross check it to make sure that they are right and we do not follow them blindly, like most of us have been following blindly all other translation method from the past, where instead of linguistics, history and Ahadith have been used more to explain the verses, as if God is dependent on these stories to make himself clear.

Peace, kn, i was replying to his reply to me

Hence conclusion is, this "you" has to be exalted prophet himself.

That to me, seems like he was concluding after my conclusion--which is why i would clarify as above.

I have no argument against the Quran as the guide for all humanity. Whatever the context of the verses is, there is always something that can be taken as a guidance, hence why i rather focus on the actions that can be taken. Especially since the actions in 939-11 is directly applicable to all of us.

          Peace

I don't know if I can help much to contribute to the topic of this thread, but for me personally, when I first read Surah Ad-Dhuha, I wasn't even thinking of Prophet Muhammad, just mankind in general.

, I feel so strongly about that Surah... I'm not an orphan by the way; but at one point in my life, I felt lost and everything in the world did not seem enough for me (I kept thinking I didn't have enough money, even though I did, and that I was poor). It was horrible... and then I got my way out of traditional Islam/Sunnism and became who I am now, you can say I received a guidance. And I feel wonderful, and enriched. This is the one surah that I keep reciting every day and it is also the one who compels me to give some of my money for the needy (different to the past where I spent none even though I earned more... and spent more for useless things lol).

Thank you, that tells a lot for on all three verses 937, 17 and 7179

Let me withdraw some translations in my previous post

                    Surah 93 7

"And not found you, misguided, then guided"

                    Surah 93 8

"And not found you, poor, then enriched"

this person referred to as "you" in the sura was an orphan, misguided, and poor.

"Lost" and "in need" (taken from http//quran.uk.net/WordByWord.aspx?chapter=93&verse=7) may be more accurate than "misguided" and "poor" (taken from "English-Literal" translation)

Please forgive me for any confusion caused by inaccurate translations above.

                    Peace,

It is from . Erring, straying etc is the result and the cause is unmindfulness, indifference to the surroundings, non responsive, absorption in something that makes people unmindful as to what is happening around. Straying is by design and will and that is the extreme meaning/eventuality of the Root .

Yes, Daad Lam Lam, i noticed the tashdid hence my question above. OK, so the nuance may not be 'catched' accurately by either 'lost' or 'misguided' but 'lost' seems more fitting than the two. IMO.

But it may be noted that the word is "Active participle". He is doing an act or seeking and what he is doing/seeking has been responded as mentioned at the end of verse, relating to the act done.

So what do you suggest for a translation that's as short as possible but still retain the nuance adequately?

                                "Pursuing", "Seeking", "Searching"?

or if not in a single word, what about

                                "Pursuing/Seeking/Searching until lost"?

                                Peace,
