Merry Christmas

Good question RA786
I don't celebrate anything religious and don't have a problem with others celebrating anything. They can celebrate what they want. I may not approve of the roots or lack of roots of some celebrations but it's not really a problem for me. Most people these days celebrate a different meaning to an old pagan celebration, for example, so they have good intentions and they share the greetings which is nice of them.
Sorry if nothing makes sense. I'm running out of brain juice ( -
Not to sound like an a***e, lol
but do any of you celebrate Ramadan and eid? or Do we critisize ramadan and eid for possibly being "Un-Quranic" or "Sunni Infultrated", but yet we think christmas is like super cool?
*i dont know just a thought... ! hmm
I think even if the Devil wears pretty dresses...doesnt mean Im going to take him/her out on a date.
Hmmm.
Well I don't exactly "celebrate" Ramadan, since I'm fasting. But it's fun to eat breakfast early in the morning together with my hubby.
Since my husband's family is Sunni, we do celebrate Eid, but it's more for my kids than for us. Any excuse to give the kids gifts is a fine one for me.
I do like the lights they put up for Christmas, and since I was raised celebrating Christmas I have some emotional attachment to it.To your question what to say - I say 'same to you' ... because if I go into "Oh, I don't celebrate Christmas" people are rather shocked and feel embarrassed (I'm talking about casual encounters). If it's someone closer than a casual encounter then they know I don't celebrate. ;D

I guess it was just me...
I felt after reading some posts and different threads, that many people like to Attack Sunni's and Shia's for the Abhoring dishonorable, utterly dispiciblue pagan ignorant tradtions and customs that have pleuged our entier world....
....Yet...when Christmas is mentioned is like "oh yeah, I love christimas, christmas is like really cool...so beautiful and amazing".But Hajj? No thats not beautiful thats ugly and stupid, Eid also...but christmas! wooo hooo grab the kids!
It just seemed to me at the moment that some of these "Quran ALoners" can get so worked up about how stupid sunni islam is yet they then favor westernized christian (pagan) celebrations instead.
Its rather Ironic how they may have been in a Sunni Ignorance and totally HATED ANYTHING that was pagan, commercialized, or western, and now just fliped it to abhor anything tradtional, arabian, and sunni.
I think a Pagan cellebration is a pegan celebration. no matter if it is Arabian Tradition or Western Tradition.
Granted Christmas is a pretty time, (Because of Lights and people Getting together)
But in all actuality, is this Actual Christmas that we like or is it just the Lights?Perhaps it would be cool if people had lights up all year arounbd at night, and if all year around people Ate with their families, and gave gifts, and put aside their defferences for the entire year.
How do we humans expect to make ANY progress toawrds peace and love, if for Centuries, all we have ever done is do it ONLY on Special Days.
Such as christmas, or eid, or ramadan, etc..I think it is the child-like fun and Joy that excites us. Perhaps if we had this child-like joy yearround, we wouldnt need pagan holidays to remind us of it once in a wile.
BUt either way, yeah christmas is FUN, and Enjoyable, BUt I am sure Isa bin maryum is going to be all like "are you serious bro? really?!!.
and I am going to be ther and say, yep Isa (jesus) I tried to say something on the Free-minds forum but......LOL laugh

I just like the pretty lights haha. And I like how people sit together for a meal with family and give gifts. And I like how they're more happy during this time (before they go into debt). Yeah it would be nice if people are always like this and the lights were always up, but then again it wouldn't feel as special. It would just seem normal.

I disagree with this way of thinking...
People have told me, "you know...it would suck if the world was Peaceful and Perfect...in fact it would suck to have "Heaven"....Because it would be broing and it would always be the same."
I dont think so...I think this is just the trick of the shytan.
Personnally, I think yes, though it would feel "Normal"...but would that mean it woundnt be fun?We dont need Violence, Adultery, and Haraam to make things exciting.
Peace can be fun and exciting...Eating with my family and cusins is ALWAYS fun and exciting...and We've been doing that for like years! lolBut seriously, Does the Moon/stars ever get Boring and "Normal"? Does the Sun Lose its Beauty? No...and they are Normal...
we've been seeing them for Millenia's.Its all about Perception. and what YOU percieve to be dull borging and "Normal"... Sometimes it is this View that Happiness, perfection or things like it cannot be attained in this life, that make it more difficult for us.
Its like saying we are going to lose the battle even before it began.

Peace All. -
Peace to all,
I personally see all these festivities as quality time spent with family. My grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles celebrate Christmas and my parents and siblings celebrate Eid. When people are happy, I'm happy. It's better to have peace within than be in conflict when each festive season comes around because you know that nothing you say to them is going to change their mind about what they believe.
So I'm kind of with Bebo on this one, just go with the flow. It's a nice break to end the year anyway! sun

I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice, but because it would be seen as a normal thing, it won't be something people look forward to and celebrate. I would prefer if it was like that every single day rather than just one day.

I have often thought that, too bad lights are not up for more than they are ... like having them up the entire winter. -

PeaceYou are mixing up Hajj & ramadan with christms & Eid. ???
-
I am not trying to "Mix them up"
I am just using them as examples in my explanation. I wanted to use them because I have seen many Quran Aloners Say that Hajj is a pagan ritual, and Even though there are Amazing, Spectacular, and enchanting Aspects of Hajj, they neglect or fail to mention them...and just talk about how Pagan, Idiotic, and meaningless the Circling of the Stone is at the Hajj Event.
These same "Quran Aloners" will probably do the same with "Eid" or anyother "Mainstream-Islamic" Festive.
These Same "Quran Aloners" will be so Strong against Celebrating Prophet Muhammad's Birthday, and feel so Strong about How "Off the path"
Traditional Sunni and Shia muslims are....Yet... will say how Beautiful Christmas is, how wonderful the Tree is How great the Presents are and how it is such a great day for people who like Jesus.
Even go as far to the point as to say that "Hey us Muslims believe i Jesus too"...As if to equate our View of Isa to the christian view. The incongruity of such an analogy is just bewildering. Are we to say that One "Middle eastern Tradition" is abhorring and intolerable wile then
hypocritically accepting a "Western Pagan" Holiday because of sentimental-Romanticizing false customs and Showcasings?I quite frankly am offended.
It could also be my Personal Biases. I grew up Christian and grew up in America with Christmas. Christmas in my view is nothing more than a Spectacle and a Performance. It is a Pagan originated Bandage that not only acts a masquerade over the deeply rooted problem but, it also creates more societal problems. For instance, The Entire Holiday is based on Glamorizing Lies, Gluttony, and Corporatism.
Now, Does the Lights look Pretty?....ok...yes the lights have an endearing charm...
But thats nothing more than a Mask, a part of the spectacle.perhaps I am Necessarily Biased... but also, Perhaps you all just have no Idea...Maybe you have never Grown up as a christian during Christmas.
My basic point is
Is it just me, or is there this biased attitude toward "Middle eastern Rituals" but a Love or Tolerance more for Westernized Rituals?and really, If we are ALL AWARE that it is NOT jesus's Birthday, Why do we accept or even engage in this holiday?
we Must be Tolerant yes, But we dont have to Condone it or glamorize it...*Its not Jesus's Birthday, *There is no Santa *its based off of Germanic odin beliefs along with naturalist pegans and mythological Romans,
So really, why do we even attempt to attribute any part of this with Isa Bin Mayum? You want lights? Put up some lights for Ramadan or something. Put up some lights the whole year if you want. Everyday could be fun and enjoyable. I am sorry for Venting...Its just I grew up seeing how Fake Christmas was for my family and friends and it really played a negitive impact on my view. brickwall yuck

Yeah i mainly like the lights, and snow.
But if we would act as if everyday was christmas then christmas wouldn't be special anymore. It would become like every other day and the chirstmas lights would be a headache for us rather than beauty. That would merely make the christmas magic disapear.
Now just because i like christmas doesnt make me any worse of a Muslim.

I don?t think if anyone here is celebrating x-mas they are only saying the lights are beautiful, now if i say that lady is beautiful dose it means I?m doing zina?? '(
-
There are aspects of many celebrations that I don't agree with but what I like about all of them, no matter what the true origins are, is that people are good to one another and spend time with those they love (even they should be like this all the time lol). However I do not celebrate anything that has pagan/ polytheistic roots or is baseless whether it is western or not.
I don't see the problem with celebrating Ramadan. I enjoy breaking fast with my family and watching shows they only bring in Ramadan. Pretty boring here in the UK but back home everything's all lit up and places are open till really late.I don?t think if anyone here is celebrating x-mas they are only saying the lights are beautiful, now if i say that lady is beautiful dose it means I?m doing zina?? Today is apparently Milad an-Nabi (birthday of prophet Mohammed (pbuh)). It is celebrated in many Islamic countries I assume. Is it right? Anyone have more info of its origins?

Is it right they even celebrate his birthday? Is this not against the core belief of not setting up partners to Allah.
2136 Say ?We believe in God and in what was sent down to us and
what was sent down to Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and
Jacob, and the Patriarchs, and what was given to Moses and Jesus,
and what was given to the prophets from their Lord; we do not
make a distinction between any of them and to Him we submit.?688 Such is the guidance of God, He guides with it whom He pleases
of His servants. And if they set up partners, then all that they had
worked would fall away from them.peace
