What's the difference between a young women and a girl?

It can be offensive to talk about women as girls in a way that one wouldn't talk about men as boys. Something about being condescending.

It can be offensive to refer to a girl as a woman too

            Peace all.

Haha. I think the issue is mostly one of a double standard. Its ok to call a thirty year old woman a girl, but not a thirty year old man.

Also there is an issue in the media of women being referred to as mothers and grandmothers. Like a local small-town newspaper headline may say "67 year old grandmother obtains college degree" or "67 year old man obtains college degree", but never "67 year old grandfather".

It is basically defining that a woman's primary role is mothering/grandmothering, but not a man's. Another double standard. Does not bode over well where we live in a diverse world, where women and men should have the freedom to define their own roles.

Why would you call a thirty year old man a girl? confused

Guess I should have been clearer, but I think you know what I meant. Its ok to call a thirty year old woman, a girl, but not a thirty year old man, a boy. Hence Double standard

                Peace.

If you spoke to these girls like the respectful girls that they are then maybe I won't have to 'block' your arrogance and disrespect.

If they were muslimahs, then of course they wouldn't block me. Quran 801-8, 971

What's the difference between a young women and a girl?

Rights of property, marriage, etc etc... driving license... etc etc.

A girl does not have rights to her property until she has been tried for the age.

Yes you are absolutely correct. This naming doublespeak is almost like a back door into destroying women's rights, by calling them girls, and thus denying them the rights as if they were women.

Women and men having freedom to define their roles is all good and well, only if it's about themselves defining themselves is what I can accept. Not about people messing with words.

That's what we believe too. No one can overpower Allah as God is the greatest.

In regards to what? That God is the greatest? It's obvious. God created everything. Nothing can be greater. Common sense.
