Haha. I think the issue is mostly one of a double standard. Its ok to call a thirty year old woman a girl, but not a thirty year old man.
Also there is an issue in the media of women being referred to as mothers and grandmothers. Like a local small-town newspaper headline may say "67 year old grandmother obtains college degree" or "67 year old man obtains college degree", but never "67 year old grandfather".
It is basically defining that a woman's primary role is mothering/grandmothering, but not a man's. Another double standard. Does not bode over well where we live in a diverse world, where women and men should have the freedom to define their own roles.

Yes you are absolutely correct. This naming doublespeak is almost like a back door into destroying women's rights, by calling them girls, and thus denying them the rights as if they were women.
Women and men having freedom to define their roles is all good and well, only if it's about themselves defining themselves is what I can accept. Not about people messing with words.

This was meant to be a discussion about taking of the Hijab in a personal light. I wanted advice from people who used to cover their hair and their experiences...
If people want to talk about the legitimacy of Sunni Hijab (which is actually not what this thread is generally about) they can begin a new separate thread..... If people want to glorify perfect Sunni women, they can go start a new thread...
