GOD wants you to be aware that HE exists, he alone is to be worshipped, and that leading a righteous path will lead to eternal Salvation.

    This is my understanding.

      Salaam,

it sounds like your God is insecure, needs constant reassurance through your worship, why is that?

What evidence have you to prove your God is a man?

As a God is a male designate it opposite is Goddess, can your God have children?

It sounds to me that you are a Christian?

GOD is neither Male nor female. In Arabic 'the GOD' is translated as 'Allah'

            Salaam,

only in modern Arabic is Allah translated as God, and it is a male designation, otherwise you would not have Goddess, but as you are quiet clearly Christian it has no relevance to you in any case.

I am not christian. I was born muslim in a 100% muslim country. (atleast that's what the government claims.) Do not make false accusations. it will only ruin your name not mine.

my country is called Maldives. Google search it if you like.

After pondering for quite a while, I come to a conclusion that what God wants is for us to serve Him, that is done by serving mankind. Remember, God is free from all needs, it is us who needs something. Besides, The Steep Path in 9012-17 is all about your devotion to mankind

                Salaam.

                  Salaam,

you are correct BornAgain, we are created to serve the creation itself, in as far as we are the custodians of the world, and to help, protect and advance our fellow man.

                  Salaam Munzir Ali,

I do not think the Maldives is an Islamic country in the slightest, it could be classified as a Christianised Muslim enclave of the modern banking system, you can not be born a Muslim, it is a way of life, not a label, you could be born into a community that was based on the correct Islamic model and then you could be Muslim, but none exist, additionally you could never be 'a' Muslim as it is a physical act, not a title to apply to yourself, you could only ever be Muslim.

From reading your comments and opinions, I have no doubt of your Christian leanings, but you are young, if you consider Christianity to be so appealing why do you say you are not Christian?

You believe in a God, so a personification of a male sky God, as the Christians.
You believe in worship and adoration to a sky God, as the Christians.
You believe in blind faith over firm reasoned and evidence based belief, as the Christians.

I am not attacking you just wondering why you think you are Muslim, do you live Muslim?

If I am a Christian, then half the people here are Christian. Do you know what I think? I think you are a hardcore Athiest. >(

Abdun Nur makes some good points, actually.

Munzir Ali, why does God want something?

How do you know that he wants something?

How did you figure out what that something was?

Those are some questions for you to think about.

My understanding is, I don't know what God is. Or what Allah is. Maybe Abdun Nur can offer some insight into that.

I have to say, your country is incredibly beautiful! I had never even heard of it before... Larger population than Iceland, though.

And BTW, it's not explicitly said that God "wants us" to worship him, however, it is explicitly said what the DEVIL wants

The devil wants to provoke animosity and hatred among you through intoxicants and gambling, and to distract you from remembering GOD, and from observing the Contact Prayers (Salat). Will you then refrain?

If the devil wants you NOT to pray or remember God (worship), then it's pretty opposite that God recommends the opposite of what the devil wants, (i.e., for you to worship and remember Him). However, this is not really a desire from God, but He only wants what's best for us, not a NEED from God, for Allah needs NOTHING from us.

However, it's not God's desire for us all to be guided

GOD points out the paths, including the wrong ones. If He willed, He could have guided all of you.

you have a point to make, or just write non-sense as a pass time, I explain my perspective based on physical evidence, you have no explanation of anything at all, a mind of conjecture and learned confusion, as is evident from your comments.

                                      Salam alaykom ,
I just want to show a point Abdun that you're wrong about the does someone bron Muslim ? In fact Yes all the people in the world born Muslims, but according to the parents religion jewish or christians or whatver made the childs devaite from the true instinct which is Islam (the prophet peace be upon him said " " that's mean that we born at the beginning Muslims and our fathers changed it and the environment changed it . as I see that you misunderstood the word Muslim which means in english he who submits to Allah and while we born submiting to Allah, we're Muslims from the birth .
One more thing I see that you have a problem with the word God, as an arabic man I know that Allah is unique word with no plural but that doesn't mean that I can say God as others definning it as Allah, because after all Allah is an arabic word , the important that who said God must know that God is the Creator "again the important is knowing that Allah is the creator whether he said God or Lord .

and about what God wants from us is shows that the person who wrote this Thread his knowledge about Islam is a little bit superficial , because God is uneed of anything, but he care if we worship him which makes it a purpose of the existence not what he wants ...so to change the title of the thread is worshiipping God is the purpose of the existence justifying what I say by this Surat from Qur'an " ", which means in english that God or Allah created us for worshipping him "as a purpose of the existence".

                                        Salaam,

You could argue that a new born baby is Muslim as they only eat, defecate and sleep, so just as animals could be construed as Muslim a new born baby would be also, of course as a human being, it is a state of action, a new born baby has little action, so I am not wrong.

Anyone who would believe in a personified God would by default believe in blind worship and adoration to that personification, I do not believe in any God, there is no evidence at all for a personified God, a creation of the religious.

There is a creator, but not one sitting back governing a creation that was built in permanence, as is understood within the personified God universe.

Without any doubt at all the very last thing the creator would require, would be worship and adoration, it would be an insult to the creator and crime against yourself and the community you exist within, I don't expect you to understand that as your mind is filled with religion, but I am not a Christianised Muslim, you exchange thoughtful action for thoughtless worship, what hope is there?

                                          Salaam,
You could argue that a new born baby is Muslim as they only eat, defecate and sleep, so just as animals could be construed as Muslim a new born baby would be also, of course as a human being, it is a state of action, a new born baby has little action, so I am not wrong.

No, you're still comitting some mistakes "I'm not trying to show you that you're wrong as I someone wants to defeat you" Anyways ..who said that the baby has a little action ? how do you define action for a baby? .

According to some research that the baby knows that there is a creator because they have the ability to know that these things around him can't be designed from nothing, by instinct they knew that there is a designer which is for adults Allah . this instinct according to us "muslims" is the instinct of Islam "the submition to allah" .

I think this website can make you understand some difference between an animal and a baby human. http//www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/religion/3512686/Children-are-born-believers-in-God-academic-claims.html

Anyone who would believe in a personified God would by default believe in blind worship and adoration to that personification, I do not believe in any God, there is no evidence at all for a personified God, a creation of the religious.

I think you have a problem with understand the non-personnification of Allah and the personnification of humankind ? you mixed both of the terms.
when we said Allah sees us and hears us, is that mean that he has the same eyes as we know them or the same ears as we have , No that doesn't mean that and it's not personnification. the situation of seeing and hearing not like the human seeing or hearing because we can't imagine it and it's beyond our minds .the only personnification that we can do is the personnification of inanimate matters "the clouds cry " cry is a personnification of clouds, we gave it as a description one of our adjectives issues is the term crying.

Again what I said is not personnification.

I really don't understand what do you mean ? I don't know whether you're a Muslim or a christianized Muslim or a christian or an atheist? I've talked to all of them and sorry to say that you're none of them .so here is my question what religion are you believing in ? or who are you literally?.
the sura from Quran is clear and what the prophet peace be upon him did is clear for me as an arabic man, I don't know what ethnicity are you ? but sure you've problem with understand the meanings of the word in arabic. ah one more thing I think I have one question for you "are you a secular?"
