Coffee?

Peace
Well Coffee is a "drug" if it has caffeine in it. It obviously has an addiction potential. It effects the central nervous system (therefore psychoactive), as a stimulant, whose main effect is an increase in alertness.
The Oxford English Dictionary classifies intoxicants as something that causes someone to lose their faculties.
As, I have never heard of coffee causing one to lose their facilities, I would say, no its not an intoxicant.

Assalamu Alaykum
Just wanted to ask, can coffee be seen as an intoxicant?
Responses will be apreciated, thanks in advance
SalamPeace,
Respectfully.Just ask yourself, how do you feel after you drink it?
I feel fine.Just gotta add more sugar, because the taste can be sometimes very bitter.
In fact, coffee helps drunk people regain their state, right?Peace.

it depends...
maybe some people who drink too much they can't handle it anymore and can't think streight without it...
with me it used to be with a small chain i used to spin around my fingers.... a chain... it's nothing, yet i was so obsessed with it that when i lose it i can't think or do anything else until i find it again, hehe... silly really -
Salaam,
Personally, I avoid drinking coffee after I've experienced what it could do to me. I work as a coffee maker and I used to drink 4-5 shots of coffee per day. When I didn't drink it 'on-time', I got really cranky and could not concentrate on anything at all. At one stage I decided to stop drinking it all together, for three days I couldn't stay awake and I had THE worst headache ever (so I was just on my bed all the time, it was like I was half-dead or something). Anyway, I'm off coffee for good now and it has been a blessing D. At least, I can feel fresh in the morning and I don't have to spend $6.00 per day (price of 2 coffees) which will amount to about $2000 per year for something that will stain my teeth p.
Anywaaayy... back on the topic. Coffee IS a legalised drug, however, if you can keep your consciousness with , then I don't see the need to avoid drinking it.
Salaam.

I find that coffee affects different people differently. If I need to sleep coffee makes me sleep better, but if I do not want to sleep it rescues me from that state where you cannot sleep but cannot be feel completely alert. It sorts the situation, makes sleep or makes me not sleep, but I am not in the middle. I also find that the quality of the coffee makes agreat deal of difference, first in the taste and the pleasure of drinking it and then in the body. A good aromatic but not strong acid coffee makes the body fitter, bad offee is bad for the stomach.

One reason I love coffee is that its caffeine (like the caffeine in chocolate, or soda, or anything else) allows me to be more productive and ward off sleep. I especially love it with good baklawa.

I Love Coffee, I drink it everyday, and wish to not only Grow my own Coffee Field but also have my own Cafe.
(inshallah).Personally, I think that Anything could be made into a deliberate Intoxication.
Carrots are a wonderful food, too much of it and it can harm your body.
Same with Meat, or Water, or Coffee or anything. The English word "Intoxicant" can really mean many things. It can mean Physical Intoxication,Mental, or Spiritual depending on what your looking at.
I would say that Coffee (in small amounts) isnt that harmful mentally, but could be harmful physically. To me, I think Alcohol is an Intoxicant and then Anything else that is taken to much and harms you is also.

Salaam,
I love Coffee lol, but I am trying to stop drinking it less. I used to hate it in the beginning and then started liking it after few years. Now I can't stop it. In Some sites it says it has a lot of benefits and then some say it does not. -\ -
I have stopped drinking coffee regularly. Bad crap, gives a good mood temporarily until X hours later when you get a downer.

I insist that the quality of the coffe, the roasting, the preparation and the amounts used in the preparation have a lot to do with liking coffe and coffee benefits.
I do not like the most acid, not good quality I think coffee nor too concentrated, nor roasted with sugar I think they do it. I find a great difference between a natural roasted aromatic no too strong coffee and the opposite. The natatural roaste aromatic and not strong, I enjoy it a lot and it does good, you feel like after a good measured (as to quantities), and it is modt definitely the best final for satisfactory meal. You feel like a million and no undesired effects.
I used to drink three cups a day later I didn't like the third, so now I am at two cups a day that enjoy very much.It is not intoxicant at all, but of course drinking ten cups of coffee a day same as drinking ten cups of tea, I would not advise, except in exceptional cirumstances.
Coffee is a blessing, no wonder it has conquered the world.

I remeber when I was young I visited my grandma, she had made a big pot of coffee, and I had to drink it all so that it would not be wasted. Afterwards, I felt as if I had drunken much alcohol, my head was dizzy. So yes it can be intoxinating.
I used to drink coffee regularly and when one day I did not have one, I got headache. To avoi that, I urgently had to get my coffee, be it bad quality, and felt like a drug addict looking for the next shot. So now I try to drink coffee only once in a few days, and the very best, home-made one.
