Those who take partners
-
I apologize in advance for not giving the scriptural references, if someone recognizes the verses I mention I would appreciate if you post the references.
Ok we are all familiar with the only sin God will not forgive, those who take partners with Allah.
Now...what I wanted to discuss is what goes through the minds of muslims when they read this verse.
I'm sure most Sunni muslims think to themselves "Oh I don't have to worry about this, this is for the Christians and the polytheists"
I agree, this is for those Christians who have strong belief in the trinity and for the polytheists.
However this is also for Muslims, specifically Sunnis and Shi'ites.
It's obvious why its for Shi'ites yet Sunnis may not realize why it is for them at first...they put such a huge emphasis on hadith/sunnah that they are taking the sayings of the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) (which he himself forbade but that is for another thread) and putting them ON PAR with the Qu'ran, or as a legitimate and ACCEPTED source of legislation with the Qu'ran.
We ALL know that Allah rebukes those who take anyone else as a judge besides Him, or those who implore others except Him for help, guidance etc.
Now at first Sunnis will think "Oh, I don't implore the Shia imams for help, this verse doesn't apply to me."
They could not be more wrong. They implore those they entrust with the authority to issue fatwas for what is lawful and unlawful. They refer to the sayings of the prophet (pbuh) for what is lawful and unlawful. By their own admission, these are the sayings of the prophet Muhammad (pbuh), they do not refer to the hadiths as the sayings of the messenger of Allah (automatically meaning the sayings of Allah, then again that is Qu'ran and not hadith). Of course they say and will say "Oh but this is not just any man, it is the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) so we are allowed to follow his sayings."
Yet they admonish those (Christians) who do the SAME thing they (Sunnis), elevate Jesus (pbuh) as a judge and intercessor/partner with Allah...
This is hypocrisy. This is rejection of the Qu'ran. The Arabs are the worst in rejection and hypocrisy.
Conclusion God is all knowing. He knows the future, and knows what Sunnis and Shi'ites were going to do. He knew Shi'ites and Sunnis would ascribe partners with Allah.
Qu'ran = God
Hadith = Man (It doesn't matter if that man is the prophet Muhammad (pbuh))
As for "Oh he is not just any man..." That is incorrect, he specifically SAYS I am a man like you.
And if he wasn't, why would God ask us to pray for him and pray for his forgiveness? Why would we have to pray for someone who is perfect?
Sunnis, this verse is for you as well.
Repent before it is too late.
And Allah knows best.

Peace!
4213 He has decreed for you the same system He ordained for Noah, and what We inspired to you, and what We ordained for Abraham, Moses, and Jesus You shall uphold this system, and do not divide in it. Intolerable for the polytheists is what you invite them towards. God chooses for Himself whoever He wills; He guides to Himself those who repent.
The truth is the system, it's clear, it guides to righteousness and peace, it promotes freedom and equivalence. It is also a nonprofit system, and there is no controlling the mass nor fascism in it. It's Monotheism and being righteous. Completely submitting to God Alone.
The contrast to this system is falsehood, it's built on complexity, materialism, control, trickery, fear, greed and desire... polytheism, vile, evil.I don't see any authority given by God to any other narration to be accepted after the Quran. On the contrary many examples are given in the Quran of each nations perpetual failure to uphold the system. Man seems to ascribe partners in this system after God gives them luxuries and ease. These partners can now add political strategy and fairy tale lies to guide the majority of the people who are weak and impatient. I have a tough time trusting people
I don't think God Almighty left anything at all out of the Quran.
May God guide us.

Peace AK85,
Thank you for posting your thoughts. I believe 448 is the verse you're looking for?
I find 622-24 particularly enlightening on the issue i.e. idolators are not aware (and deny in the strongest language) that they had committed shrik. It must noted that this is not limited to any group, for it is but a humble reminder. -

I just feel that Sunnis should take particular heed though, because perhaps they may feell that it couldn't possibly apply to them

God expects a peacefull society. Everyone worships their own idols and take partners with HIM.
Idols need not be a physical object, it can be anything that causes ego in ones mind and makes him think "I am different than others, or my way is the best way".
Racism, groupism, nationalism etc etc...everything are form of idols and causes fights and were against a peacefull(islamic) society.

There is no such thing as anything but Allah. Allah is the only reality, therefore how can you have other "Allah"s without being an idiot, blind to truth?

About those who in this world identify themselves as "Christians" and in Arabic as Nisara, this verdict of Allah must not be overlooked.

And indeed you the Messenger will find nearer in loving association for those who accepted/believed such people who identified themselves saying "We are Nisa'ara"They are the only people who have affection, love and sympathy for Believers. We should acknowledge and respect this.

Well, personally, I see a lot of "We" going on in the surahs, as Al Lah addresses the Prophet and the people through him, peace be upon them all. I can only think to myself that "partner" is a bit misleading in translation. We're talking about a society that is heavily engaged in social interaction within the marketplace (and caravan) on a daily basis so, perhaps, there is a clue here as to a better interpretation or translation.
And perhaps, then, this is the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit that Isa is quoted as referring to in the canonical Gospels.
It is also the only "unforgiveable sin".God is one. That is the only real addition to the discussion which I can offer at present.

Mark 329
But it was just a conjecture.
I'm very skeptical about any religious text I read anymore. -

Chapter5Thank you very much for bringing this up, this interests me a great deal and I am going to study this verse and look at commentary on it. May God be pleased with you.

The highlights above are from me.
Salaam Dear AK85,
I do appreciate all your views in this post and second them all, but I am not sure if I've run into such a verse in The Qur'aan in which WE are told to pray for forgiveness of the Prophet. On the other hand, in verse 4719, GOD commands the Prophet to ask for forgiveness of his own sin and also for men and women believers as well. Let me know if you can pinpoint the verse you mentioned above.
Peace,
Khalil -

brother I have been searching this morning before I went to work and now that i have come back but I cannot find it. If I erred it is because my memory did not serve me well, but for now I am reasonably certain that I saw this verse in which Allah asks the believers to pray for the prophet's (pbuh) forgiveness. I know there are verses which say to ask God to bless him, but I remembered this ayat specifically because it mentioned asking Allah to forgive him

Dear Brother AK85,
Don't bother, like I menitoned before, I do not think there is any verse in The Qur'aan through which GOD(swt) directing the believers to implore Him to forgive the Prophet, but the vice versa.
Anyways, it is very impotant to ALWAYS ducument the word of GOD very accurately whenever we reffer to it. The word of GOD MUST NOT be treated as HEARSAY nonsense, like hadith or sunnah, and... routinely used by the sectarians. We must practice patience in that regard, and then, when reached certainty, then act upon it.
In the words of the preacher, "not a sermon, just a thought." ;D

With Salaam,
KhalilSalaam and thank you for your advice, I have actually already began to take heed in another forum I frequent in regards to providing the documentation and patiently collecting the references before I make arguments. I will do this in the future as well. Once again thank you for your sound advice, I acted in haste to make this point and was swallowed by my fervour. This was wrong and I will be patient in the future, as God as has instructed me to in many ayats.
Salaam and thank you once again with sincerity for your advice
