    Peace be upon you Layla,

Excellent post, I agree with everything. Just wanted to respond to one part.

I also wonder to what extent translate what is generally considered proper names (e.g Isa, Musa, Bakka, Makka, As-Safa, etc) and in what contexts and according to what rules?

I think that each word must be examined to the very ROOT. We cannot take anything for granted because if we do, we are only following our "fathers footsteps , even if shaytaan was leading "him" astray.

The Mind (nafs) must be guarded and purified from these methods of slavery that have been and are being used against the people. We cannot fear the idea of intense study thinking we will be struck with a lightning bolt. The God encourages the use of the intellect.

Thank you for bringing the needed energy to this forum. D

          Peace all,

I know this is an old thread but an idea just dawned on me. Perhaps kha-ta-ma in 3340 refers to the "stamp" of the prophets, and not the "seal".

          The occurences of kha-ta-ma
          27, 646, 4523
          3665, 4224
          8325
          3340
          8326

          Peace,
          Tay

              Peace lk,

I believe there is a difference. "Seal" has mulitple meanings but one in particular is generally considered in this context, and that is, something that cordons off what is behind it. "Seal" and "stamp" are synonyms, and both words are used in translating "khatama" and it's derivatives in the Qur'an. So, to say "Muhammad is the stamp of the prophets" does not make sense. But, to say, "One who is praiseworthy is the stamp of the prophets" does make sense.

              Peace,
              Tay
